I always just plug the holes (easy guys) of my glass pieces with my fingers when shaking with ISO and salt.
Is there something better I can make or buy to make things easier and get a better seal on the holes?
They sell the cork stoppers at most Ace Hardware stores.
They come in all sizes and are very inexpensive... like a less than dime each (for small sizes)
Once again Vitolo is spot on! Although I thing rubber stoppers (from the same source) are a better plan. Stuff doesn't 'soak into them' and make a mess.
I also think you should rethink getting all that ISO on your skin. "High proof' versions (like we need for cleaning) can strip the oils from your skin, causing irritation, cracking and all sorts of skin infections/afflictions. At the very least wash up and apply lotion?
You should also consider changing from ISO to PBW, a custom detergent developed for the Breweries (Coor specifically) to wash out just the sort of baked on hydrocarbon junk we face. It's OK on the skin (although it too is harsh WRT skin oils) and 'green' so it (unlike ISO) can be dumped down the drain with clear conscience. Great stuff, you can get it at Amazon or home brewery shops:
https://www.amazon.com/PBW-Five-Sta...7738270&sr=8-1&keywords=powdered+brewery+wash
We've got a very informative thread on the stuff going, Dub-T did it:
http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/pbw-the-chemistry-of-clean.7854/
Check it out. Works better, is cheaper to use, easier to buy, safe to skin and the environment and won't burn the house down......what's not to like.
BTW, put a teaspoon in the dishwasher, it wipes out that 'hard water haze' that builds up toot sweet. The stuff is designed to work well in the hardest water there is.
