Sticky Brick Labs Vaporizer

Seriously considering adding a Sticky Brick Labs vape to my arsenal... however, I doubt I’ll use it that much considering I have the Milaana 2 and several other top vapes. So my question is, with those of you who own multiple vaporizers, is it a worthwhile investment to get one of these? Will I get any other form of enjoyment out of using one? I kind of like the thought of taking this vape camping or fishing since it doesn’t require any batteries, but then there’s always the Dynavap... Let me know your thoughts on how much you really love your SB. Thanks

I have a bunch of vapes, but when I really want a big bowl fast, the brick is what I reach for!

When I need to die fast and hard then I reach for my stickybrick ... I wondered about getting a bigger bong for it but then again I dont wanna need to get a wheelchair for even more crippling hits from that monster!

Pretty sure I taken nearly half a gram hits from it and stayed baked for 4 hours

To be fair, I think this Q would be easier to answer if we knew which other vapes you have as an option.

This said, I'm a huge fan. There is a degree of user control that you really can't find in other vapes which is the source of the higher than normal learning curve. Sometimes I just want to push a button and be done with it. Other times, I want to slow down a little and control my experience and that's when I reach for my SBL vapes.

The only people that I know who do not like SBL vapes are those who gave up too soon or just have an aversion to butane powered vapes. Bonus is that they are also aesthetically pleasing and Kenny (the creator) is genuinely a good dude and I like supporting good people.

If you have more specific Qs, I am happy to try to answer. Good luck with taming the VAS!

After cleaning the SB & it dries, is it ok to use sticky butter in the chamber area?

I don’t know for sure but I would avoid using sticky butter in the chamber area. It may not be safe at high temperatures.

So my question is, with those of you who own multiple vaporizers, is it a worthwhile investment to get one of these?

Sticky Bricks are great even for owners of multiple vapes. Butane backups are great to have, and Bricks will give a different experience to your Vapcap. You will get more convection, and bigger hits with less time and butane used for each hit. I love my Vapcap but it’s a totally different experience to my Brick.

A Sticky Brick is more like a flame powered Milaana. Completely unregulated and capable of flavor chasing or massive hits. It’s also my vape of choice when I need to medicate now. There is zero heat up time or waiting, and it is very quick and easy to load the chamber. I can be totally wrecked by the time my Vapcap is just starting to click.

Just putting this out there: how sweet would a bubbler attachment on the OG be? :o:brow::love:

I actually asked Kenny about this when the bubbler for the SBJ/runt was released. He just needs to know from you all that there is demand before he can commit to ordering and selling these. He really does appreciate feedback and is pretty responsive to emails.

Just wondering what people's thoughts are on using the mini bubbler with the sticky brick runt?

It's a match made in heaven it seems. The bubbler works perfectly with the runt due to the way that you reload the vape. It still allows the vape to stand up thus preventing the bubbler from leaking water. Much harder to do this with an SBJ. I love using my SBJ with a WPA though and even more so than a Maxx with a whip attachment. This all said, I rarely use my runt with the bubbler. The hits are smooth enough for me and honestly, I reach for my SBL vapes when I want a little scratch in the back of the throat. I'm not sure if that makes sense but I expect to cough when using my SBL vapes and I don't necessarily mind. Also, the vapor doesn't need cooling really. Its a very reasonable temp when it hits your mouth.

for the other sbj users ... you can tell a noticeable difference between carbed and non-carbed right?

Absolutely. Very noticeable in my experience.

i did replace tho-rings and it seemed to help ... the gradual increase in restriction probably was at play as well

I have found that when I am starting to notice a drop off in vapor production, 90% of the time, the culprit is the screen. A lot of resin builds up on the bottom of the screen so its hidden from plain site. The build up is gradual too so the increase in draw restriction is also very gradual. When you replace the screen, the difference in restriction can be drastically different from the last hit taken before replacing screen.

After cleaning the SB & it dries, is it ok to use sticky butter in the chamber area?

I have personally never deep cleaned any of my bricks. I honestly don't think its necessary. This said, I still perform minor cleaning maintenance. I scrape the air path of resin debris and toss in with my AVB but I never try to fully clean the brick with water or ISO (or any other type of alcohol or cleaning solution). I think the bricks need to be "seasoned" with resin to mitigate the small wood flavor and if you deep clean you essentially need to start that process over again. For what its worth, my SBJ has seen a lot of action. For reference, my SBJ was my dailer driver for about 10 months. It was used at least 5 days a week and multiple times a day. The stem is literally just golden resin coated all over. Air path has golden resin sitting at the bottom (different from the black resin debris that can't be dabbed) which I regularly dab with a nectar collector.

Quick, fast and hits like a brick! Vapor is fairly cool and really smooth. Very easy to inhale too much. When newbies are trying my brick, I put a cardboard cutout around the glass intake to protect the wood from being torched.

Ahh I see, so the more you use the brick and the more resin build up, you get less taste of wood in the vapor ? Sticky Brick truly does offer some of the most amazing taste on the first two hits, after that it's mostly wooden flavor for me, that's why I don't use it as often ! Think it's time to break it in more

Absolutely. My trusty SBJ that I've run a significant amount of material through has absolutely zero wood after taste. My Maxx which isn't used as often does still have a slight taste to it. I don't want anyone to mistake what I'm saying. Routine maintenance in terms of clearing the air path of the dark crumbly resin is a must as well as changing the screens on a regular basis.

Plus you can dab the reclaim easily with a nectar collector:

There are a lot of variations but they can be had very inexpensively.

I've owned nearly every Sticky Brick product ( besides the flipbrick ) and if theres ONE vape that I always regretted getting rid of it was my Jr, I had the basic walnut, and because I'd always use my Hydrobrick more, everytime I'd use the SBJ I wouldent get the same amazing flavor I did from the Hydrobrick, obviously Walnut is one of the most noticeable woods in terms of taste, so I ended up getting rid of it, everytime i see an exotic wood Jr or just the Jr in general, I have so much regret in getting rid of mine, it was so portable compared to the OG and Runt

Hi. I just got an email from SBL about 25% off sale! I just ordered a Maxx from Puff It Up should be here soon otherwise I'd buy it now from Sticky Brick. Story of my life. Lol

The Maxx was the best decision I made. You will not regret yours.

Once you've mastered your dry-rip technique, and not a moment before, do I recommend checking out this hydrotube:

Thanks for the tip! I'm interested in dry mainly for flavor but im curious about the water option for sure. I will make sure to master the dry before I move on to the hydro.
I'm really excited!

@flammy, you mention people with an aversion to butane-powered vapes may not like a SBL vape. I don't really like the fuss of my DynaVap M but I am damned curious about these things. I've looked at the process, it looks "simple" enough, are you referring more to the experience (i.e. the throat hit, etc.) of it than the process of using it? I just didn't like having to roll my M over the torch and the small bowl size.

Hey bud, not wanting to jump in on @flammy s response, but it sounds like you are in the same situation as I was so maybe this will help.

I went from an omni to a SBrunt. I feel comfortable with a torch, so the handling between the omni and the SBrunt felt realitvely the same. Point torch at want you want to get hot and go.

As far as sensitivity to butane, I've only seen one person on one of these SBL threads talk about they have an aversion to butane, so I couldn't speak to that.

My primary reason for getting a runt was because an omni bowl is too small for an around the house daily driver. I was loading it 3 - 4 full bowls sometimes before getting where I wanted to be. Now, with the brick, I can pack a bowl all I want, but I can barely take two rips Back-to-back without getting annihilated. That much of a difference.

Technique wise, the best piece of advice I would have gotten early on was said by @Ramahs. Master it dry first. I went straight to wpa, kept combusting, went to dry, got a little better, back to wpa and combustion, etc. I think I've mastered dry, but it took a min. And I sold the wpa because I didn't like it! Now I want another.

Sorry this long, I'm ripped.

Also...any length of hose between the brick and the glass always caused a delayed visual feedback that I found made it a pain in the ass to use my brick with a glass piece.

Well...I thought that before I acquired this hydrotube for my Maxx. The visual feedback is a lot closer to the standard dry glass mouthpiece, and it didn't take too much practice before I had the hang of it.

Still, learn to use it dry without scorching first, then you will scorch a bit less when learning to use with glass. That's my humble opinion at least.

Yeah see that's the biggest issue I have with the DynaVap, the bowl's just too damn small. It doesn't get me to where I want to be without 3-6 heat cycles. :( It wouldn't be as big a deal but for the heating process. I recently picked up a Splinter Z and it's suiting my needs much better! :D It's nice to just hit a button but I do sometimes miss that manual control you get from butane.

Thanks kevin and @Ramahs, my interest in one of these just grows. I found a Leopardwood SBJr and my heart stopped, it was so beautiful.

Edit:

Question. How fast do you start to get vapour when you heat this guy?

Instantly. My technique is somewhat different from others, in that I use a triple flame torch with the restrictor disk in. But as soon as I line up the torch with the intake, it's go time.

This is a really tough question to answer. My comment about people having an aversion to butane comes from general advice inquiries that I see over on Reddit. Whether that aversion is logical is something that I can't speak for. I believe it just comes from the fact that some simply prefer pushing a button rather than dealing with a torch. And to be fair, an SBL vape will be harder to use in certain situations vs a dynavap. For instance, if I am in a room with a ceiling fan and I am sitting to close to that fan, the breeze from the fan will affect the flame of the torch to where I can't get a reasonable hit.

The process does look simple and some get it right away but there are so many different variables involved in getting the brick to hit correctly. Type of lighter used, length of flame, distance of flame tip to intake, angle of flame relative to intake, draw speed, whether or not draw speed is pulsed, whether or not the distance of flame to intake is changed during draw, etc. For me, these are all the reasons why I like the brick. I love the amount of control that I have with my SBLs.

This all said, the bricks can hit extremely hard and with great flavor and efficiency. If your issue if bowl size, that won't be a problem with a brick. The bowls are plenty big and I honestly never fill them all the way. Additionally, because of how big the bowl is and the way its positioned, its the best whole bud vape that I have. Sometimes, I don't care to grind and I will just toss a nug into the bowl. Rip it a couple of times and then break it up and stir and vape until cashed. The flavor when using this method on the first hit is pretty nice since you're not losing anything through the grind process.

If you're considering a brick, this a good time. SBL will be having a 3 year anniversary sale 6/3-6/5 and offering 25% off (Promo Code is 3YEARS). I would recommend the Jr. as a first brick. If you like using water pieces, I would highly recommend the WPA but I don't recommend the bubbler with the Jr. (I do for the runt). This said, you really shouldn't start using a WPA until you have somewhat mastered the technique natively.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have more Qs.

This vape has the most varied user experience that I've ever seen so the more input that is provided, the better. Thanks for jumping in there.

Whoa, thanks flammy. That's pretty much what I wanted to know. The bowl size was definitely the biggest issue I had with the DynaVap; most everything else you listed is either attractive or not an issue to me. Cos I started with the M I feel like using an electronic one is cheating, lmao! I sure wish I hadn't just spent over $200CAD on a Splinter Z and an XL8R stem or I'd be hitting up that sale for god damned sure, you better believe.

And yeah I've heard the user experience from this thing can vary wildly. I just love the aesthetic and the idea of dialing in just the right vape for me. If I don't want to fuss then I can just hit my Splinter.

Thanks again. :)

Can you talk more about this @flammy? I have been interested in the bubbler for my Runt. I sold the wpa because I got too frustrated early on, before I mastered dry. Wish I would have held on to it.

Thanks bud.

So I've had my new purple heart wood hydro maxx about 2 days of limited use and I'm finally getting consistent hits without combustion. It's definitely not s easy for me as I thought it would be. I was too aggressive and combusted often. I have a big torch like one for food prep and that is awkward. I want one like the vape critic uses in the video about the maxx. Small and he puts it right over the intake like lighting a bong. Looks easy peasy Hits with this beast are the biggest I've ever gotten from a vape. Just huge. Less is more when putting herb in too. I love it. Like so many here have said better than I can there is a learning curve but it's not steep and it's so worth the effort. I will get a hydratube someday but for now dry is awesome. I'm a huge fan of this vape. Thanks for all the input from members here who give such good info and opinions.
