Sticky Brick Junior by Sticky Brick Labs

Chicken #420

I and I be Irie Vaping with U and U in Zion, mon!
I received my Sticky Brick Jr. yesterday.
Holy hell this thing works great! Easy to use and maintain, with super dense clouds of tasty vape gravy! :)
The "woody" flavor is beginning to fade... that flavoring is probably the only negative of this vape.
Love it... I can't believe more people don't know about this option!

Welcome to the SB fam, heady times. That flavor and speed is mindblowing. I have to have at least one use of one of my bricks no matter what else I'm infatuated with at the moment, never falls out of rotation

Which wood do you have? I know some woods have a stronger flavor than others. The cherry one I have the wood taste is really nice. Kind of curious how they all compare.

You should seriously try the water attachment- amazing how good it is

The spalted maple is scented like fresh bamboo chopsticks to me, it's so subtle and pleasant. The walnut taste like chestnuts to me and has a richer flavor. This is all subjective of course, I have an Asian palate, someone else will have a whole different opinion

Really like how there are so many options. Id describe the cherry as basically tasting sweet. Its not overpowering or anything-Im really enjoying it. I was very close to choosing the walnut, that sounds great.

I bought the Spalted Maple version.
The "woody" taste is not strong, but it's there. Hoping it will eventually fade to nothing. Not that it's really strong or unpleasant... it's just... there.

Yeah... water attachment was ordered, should be here next week.

P.S. The wood looks GREAT on mine! Super pleased! :)

Mine is cherry (and I LOVE it!) and what I taste is a light scent of pine resin which I reckon is part of the natural wood treatment. I find it super subtle and nice but I can really see when someone doesn't like it. Btw: has anyone a recommendation for an alternative to the Sticky Labs Wood Milk? The european shop doesn't carry it so I'm looking for a source here. Maybe some international brand?

I don't know if it's available over there, but I've been using Clark's Cutting Board Oil and Wax for some time. Food safe and reasonably priced. If you can't find that, you can look for another brand.

Just got my sbj two days ago and I'm having a lot of trouble using it. I've read a ton and watched a lot of videos. I try to be super careful with my flame but each bowl I only get like 3-4 hits out of it before its black. I'm either getting not enough heat and no vapor or it heats up in one specific spot and turns black on that spot. Is something wrong with my sbj? I don't see why I'm getting the charring in one spot. I read some guy widened the heat hole with sandpaper idk if that would help. What do you guys think? Sorry for the long post

Morning @kushy9
Couple of suggestions: The quality and condition of your material will make a difference. If you only have access to material that doesn't vape well in any of your vaporizers, then you may be out of luck, but if you have healthy, green, frosty material, that's a plus.
You want the material to be dry, not moist.
Try stirring after each hit. You could go every two or three but until you get your technique worked out, try it each time. And don't let the occasional black spot discourage you.
Watch the angle of the intake glass while drawing, the blue flame should be just within the intake opening and you should intermittently see a bit of the flame slip down around the angle. Move your flame around the intake as it's firing, and when you feel the heat, pull the torch away from the intake 1/2 an inch to an inch. Don't turn it off(unless you're accidentally combusting) just move it away and toward the intake to regulate the heat.
There is a telltale jet engine sort of sound when the flame is properly traveling the glass airway.

Hope some of this helps!

Id follow the suggestions Adobewon made, also try adjusting your inhalation speed.

Start with the flame a good distance away and slowly move it closer until you find the spot where you get results you like. When I get darker spots its usually because I brought the flame to close.

Your issue doesn't sound like an intake hole issue to me- the sanding fix was for an intake hole that was charring. I doubt that is common.

Also..be sure you are using the carb correctly.

Ok, one more for ya, we're a helpful bunch :myday:

Cork your carb, pack light and fluffy full, then just tap it to even out. Set your flame low and about 2"away, start with a slow draw and bring in the flame a little bit at a time.....

You may not get anything the first few breaths, that's good, you're moving slow then. Continue in until you feel the heat and hover right there, take note of flame strength and distance from intake.

Stir after every hit, it lets you see what you're doing.

If you play slowly around where you feel heat, you'll get vapor, and once you start to feel it, it gets easier!

Hang in there and take a hit off another if you need to, it's ok

Ok I'm back and all I can say is wow. It was totally user error. I was putting the flame to far in trying to get a big cloud right away causing the one spot black charring. This time I kept the flame back way more and pulled lightly until I felt it rolling in. First hit was light but tasted so freaking good and just dried the herb. Did the same thing for the second hit and the vapor came rolling in like crazy. The herb was evenly heated and everything. I honestly forgot how many hits I got out of the bowl but it was a lot compared to how I was doing it before. It's all in the technique for sure. Thank you @MonkeyTime @sirwalter @Adobewan

yeah happy for you! I notice that when I'm at the right distance with the flame there's a subtle sound like a "whoosh" (sorry hard to discribe)! you know there's no sound and when at the perfect distance bim, the sticky brick jr is in action!! have you notice that to? listen carefully you will ear ;-)
ps: this device is absolutely the best (with the vapcap no need to other vaporizer for me)
