Not sure who the original designer of this piece is, I believe @RastaBuddhaTao and Trilhouse were somewhere at the beginning of the process, and I see another company picking up the format on a new vape, but the original thinker behind this deserves some credit, some reward, or at least some love.

Sending love,

I don't think RBT was involved. It was Triihouse who developed and sold the original model. As the makers of the Dreamwood Dobby which is a European version of this kind of vape mention, it was really nice of Triihouse not to patent it so that Stickybricks and the Dobby vapes can be made.

In my opinion the Junior is its own thing with several unique design elements. It's wholly a creation of @StickyBricks.

It could be said that Triihouse was using a method that the Vapor Genie originally developed. The Lotus is another direct draw butane device that possibly inspired Triihouse. This style of vaping goes back to DIY lightbulb vapes of old days when you think about it. Everything is a remix!

I'm just glad Sticky Brick Labs is putting out such amazing products and providing amazing customer service as well! This method of vaping has too much potential to let it lie dormant.

Awesome post @Adobewan ! The power of the torch! From zero to melt your face off in less than five seconds! Hopefully not literally! That would be really bad aim!
Oh so right Bro! I forgot to mention the instant, on-demand heat and vapor!

It was very nice of them, unprecedented openness in a messed up world, I just hope the original designer has been appropriately compensated. As is often the case, the idea is the commodity, here more than most cases due to the elegant simplicity.

I ordered an Iroka (looks like it's more commonly known as iroko online, but they seem interchangeable) SB Jr. from PuffItUp on Sunday, and tracking says it should be here tomorrow. I've read all the pages in this thread, and I'm dying to get my hands on my own brick. My DD is an e-nano that I use through water. Looking forward to the raw power of a log and the portability of butane. Will report back when it's been thoroughly broken in! I have a lot of technique in my head, now I just need the practice. Vacationing in the GA mountains this upcoming week, and this SBJr should be the perfect companion!

If I had one slight request, it would be that SBL works on their wood/grain display game when it comes to stock pictures. Nothing gets my VAS going like a hand-made piece of wood (double entendres anyone?). What's the point of offering so many beautiful options if they all look so similar and almost indistinguishable on SBL or PIU? I had to scour the internet to find 2 other people who'd posted pictures of their Irokas to get an idea. Obviously, there is a ton of variation on how each piece will look, even within the same species, but can you hook a guy/the internet up with some sticky brick porn? Just pick a looker from each species and show me some details and angles when I'm online shopping. :brow:

It was a tough choice between the rock maple, iroka, and the ever beautiful spalted maple on PIU. I doubt you could go wrong with any of them though!

I completely agree with you, most of the detailed photos which shows off wood grain are from the owners. Before my purchase and even now whenever I see a nice unit I'll always ask what wood it is bc it looks nothing like the sales sites

The postman was kind enough to drop off my Jr. today, and I think it might be one of the most beautiful chunks of wood I've ever seen. The Iroka grain glows gold when you catch it at the right angle, and i can't stop looking at it!

I'm afraid I am having some issues with it so far though. My problem is that it's incredibly difficult to get it to vaporize, not combust. I keep reading these reports of easy combustion and needing to be conscious of your flame, but I'm having difficulty getting thick vapor even when I'm shoving the flame much further down the intake than I know I should be/what seems typical. I can shove almost the entire inner flame well past the elbow of the intake and not only do I not combust, my herbs aren't even that dark. I've gotten a couple of big rips, but I'm just a bit confused. For the most part, I'm just getting the strong taste of wood, which I imagine is because the flame is going so far down into the intake. I'm covering the carb, the air intake is open, I'm drawing in the mouthpiece (have tried different speeds) and yet I'm still struggling to get consistently large draws.

I've tried varying the strength of my flame too. With a 3/4" inner flame, I can stick the inner flame in until it touches the back of the glass elbow. I see videos of people barely inserting the tip of their inner flame into the intake and pulling heavy clouds with a lower flame level than I am using. I've even tried using my double torch I have for cigars and still can't even combust. I may be high, but I know this doesn't seem right lol.

Welcome @seajetHour
Sorry you're having issues with one of my new favorite vapes.
Just to be sure, you're loading your material onto and covering the screen beneath the 90° elbow, and firing your torch into the 45° flared intake, correct?
What is the state of your material? Wet, dry, green, brown? IME dry green crystal covered material will make for the best result.

One more simple one to rule it out....You're covering the carb hole right?

I'm covering the carb hole, it's loaded in the correct chamber. I'm just going to keep at it and see if it isn't just still my learning curve. I've been experimenting with different angles of holding the flame and I'm getting some better results, it's just the lack of consistency. Like I said, I've gotten some big rips and it's producing vapor.

I'm mostly just confused as to why I can't seem to possibly induce combustion. That seems to suggest there is something different that's affecting it, but I'll keep experimenting. It's a unique piece, maybe I just need to learn my own? I'll report back after I've run more than just a few loads through.

If you're trying to combust just to see if you can, try slowing down your draw speed.

Hey! We appreciate your support!

Combustion can come from many different factors Including your material.

Flame length, and draw speed are the two things I would work on the most. It does have a learning curve but you will get the hang of it in no time.

Try circling it around the inside the Intake while you're heating/drawing.
When you slow your draw down, slow it down to the point as if you were sipping very hot coffee and that should start forming some vapor. Try that out and let us know how it goes! Welcome to the Sticky Brick Labs club!

I pulled off the intake and noticed that the little hole between the intake and the chamber hasn't been drilled very cleanly. It was a bit splintered and the hole was partially clogged. I scraped off and smoothed out the edges and have run a few bowls since. It has been performing much better, and responding to heat without needing to hold the flame nearly as close as before.

That and I'm already learning the technique a bit. And my brick rips now! No more problems getting a thick vapor.

Well, a couple days later and I'm loving my jr. No more heat or flame issues at all since I cleared out the intake hole, and a thin layer of carbon seems to be building up to help the transfer of heat. I build a vapor long before the flame comes close to the intake now, and I've gotten some e-nano size clouds! This little thing is a power house, and it's so fun to use!

I see people recommending adding a screen to the intake portion of bricks above the chamber. I'm interested in doing this more to keep bud from falling out of the intake when I don't finish a bowl and I'm not careful. The stock screens that came with mine seem to be too small to make a snug fit/to stay in the metal cylinder. What screens/screen sizes has everybody been using?

Hi Guys, newcomer here. Just got my sbj in the mail a few days back and its brilliant.. However i have a slight issue as vapor seems to be escaping from the intake side. I had a look and it looks like where the 2 screws connect on 1 side has a crack and is creating a 1.5mm-2mm gap. Looks like the 2 screws were tightened too hard causing a split in the wood? Pic attached >>>

I don't have a backup of any of my vaps, I have enough that I can do without one, but that is beautiful. I love my SBJ, that's beautiful, and I don't have any maple...... Randy, sign me up! And add some Ti Woody love, kids college almost paid for, one wedding to worry about, time I enjoyed my passion!

Just would like to say I've received my replacement SBJ already (looks perfect!!). I am also very impressed with the delivery time too considering it was sent to Australia. Great customer service from SBL guys, a few of my friends will be getting their own SBJs too after trying mine.. Cheers for such a great product ;)

As for anyone sitting on the fence to purchase one, consider this.. I've been a bong smoker for 20+ years, the SBJ has finally converted me. Don't hesitate, just do it... Your lungs will thank you and you still get massive clouds using a jet lighter. My coughing is down 80-90%..
