SSV or Da Buddha

Well first post and didnt want to kill either of the DBV or SSV thread in the plug in section so thought I would ask here is the extra cash for the SSV worth it.

I know about construction costs etc compared between the two and asthetics dont really do much for me IE glass knob...etc...

so spend the extra cash and get the SSV or just go with the DBV as its the same thing effectively.

We don't discuss specific vaporizers in General Vaporization - moved to Ask FC.
Vaporization Discussion
Vapor related but not model specific

The SSV was worth the extra $ for me but plenty of people prefer the DBV regardless of cost. The SSV (standard connection) provides slightly richer hits and more control due to the narrow opening in the heater cover and the ability to move the wand around during a hit in order to expose more herb to the heat , while the DBV allows one hand free and more predictable hits, due to the locked in nature of the glass on glass connection. I've used both models and could live with either (used the SSV as my direct draw 'go to' vape for years), but I prefer the hit control that the SSV provides with the standard connection.

If you don't care about the frills. Go with the DBV. Great unit, right on par with the SSV. If you want the added control of the original SSV Heater cover and wand you can purchase those parts on ebay and still be in for less money than buying a SSV I believe. The parts will fit either unit.

Never tried the DBV but owned the SSV GG connection and prefer the SSV Standard over it.

Works great with my SSV EQ screen mod and VB Mini wand for better conservation. Removing the wand every hit lets me see how dark my material is and weather you need to stir or not.

True but that reminds me of the other main reason why I preferred the SSV. I set it up on an end table to the left of my chair where all I had to do was swivel my arm (with the whip) to connect to the vape. Resting my elbow on the chair arm allowed me to easily hold the whip in either the connected or disconnected position for a very easy vaping session. The hands free DBV, OTOH, was always worrying me with the connected whip every time I moved my 'whip arm'. So in my setup, the 'hands free' setup of the DBV was actually more hassle than the SSV. I'm sure with more time I'd have gotten more used to the DBV and the connected whip, but my SSV setup was so convenient it wasn't worth the effort to mess with the DBV anymore.

The SSV still does Hands free the same way the DBV does, except at a slight angle.

I enjoyed my SSV hands free GG for using with a bubbler, used a really short piece of whip. But for dry hit straight from a whip I prefer the Standard wand much more.

Also we currently have a FC member that has started blowing glass and is going to attempt a worked SSV mini wand (should be simple) that should be much more efficient than any stock SSV/DBV wand. But then again he can make DBV wands already.
