Tried out the Orb XL with the Source Nails in it. Have some insight that might help.
First, I must say that hitting the Quartz nail like a "load and go" vape pen is incredibly good. Cleaner taste than any other vape pen system I've used, even better than the Quartz Terra donut.
I put the Quartz nail in the Orb XL on my iStick Pico. Set to TC-Ni mode (temperature control - nickel wire, just guessing at Nail wire material), locked in resistance at ~0.58ohms, set max wattage at 10.4W, temp at 350F. I'm taking 10-20 second draws. For low temp vaping, this is amazing. 20 second draws I'm getting large amounts of vapor that's still quite cool and smooth.
After inspecting the Source Nails, I think there's cause for people having issues, especially those who like to high temp dab. The nail's heater underneath the bowl looks like it possibly could be the exact same ceramic donut as the Source Terra.
The Source Terra donut is well known to break when powered above 15W long term. On Source's FAQ, their recommended wattage settings for dabbing on the Source Nail ranges from 17-35W. If users are running on the high end then breaking the nail heaters in less than a month may be frequent.
If this is true then it seems like these Source Nails may break often for their original purpose: high temp dabbing. The positive take away is that these Source Nails are great for use in a vape pen system for low temp vaping on the go.
One concern I still have is melting gasket seals. All of my older Orb 3 coils/Terras developed melted silicone gaskets, which results in horrible taste and arguably health safety issues. Source claims to have fixed this on the Source Nails by using higher temperature resistant Teflon gaskets. I will continue monitoring for this issue.
Finally, I wish there were smaller/lighter mouthpieces (and non-glass) for the Source Nail. The Orb XL is heavier than my iStick Pico with battery! This thing is a beast inside your pocket dragging your pants down.
