Source Orb Pen Vape

So whats the deal with the new Source portable e-nail? Is this just another in the line of Boosts and other knockoffs?

Looks like another 510 attachment. The bowl looks like a metal cup ( it does look similar to the h nail) with the heating coils under thus nothing touching coils (?)... it's only an assumption. It's supposed to be sub-ohm so the cup should get hot enough.

With their 50 percent off 420 sale I though what the heck and sprung for the pre sale of the attachment. I have many box mods that will work with this. I will be using the cuboid mini by joyetech 70w Temp control (usually 28-30 bucks online).

I wasn't a fan of the H Nail but having this as an attachment is kinda cool. And with their 420 sale it could be worth it (on coils too!).

Wish there was more user feedback and comparitive analysis before the sale is over... not sure this is for me but I don't want to miss the deal as I won't buy at full price...

I was going to do one oil purchase for 420, Omicron v4 or this?

Well, the 50% got me so I preordered the 510 attachment kit. $40 bucks. I've spent more on several grams than this sale. I just wonder how long pre-order will take.

I will report when I get mine. Maybe others have prototypes can give us feedback.

Couldn't resist the deal. Does anyone know for sure if the quartz terra for the v3 orb uses gr1 Titanium? Also, in all the pictures ive seen it seems like there is still a ceramic donut. Can anyone confirm/deny? Might be waiting a couple weeks so I will probably come up with more questions. Any concerns or tips with the v3 and quartz terra? I have had a v2 orb for almost exactly a year and it works well but is scratched to shit. Id also like to try the quartz terras anyway out of concern with the quality of the ceramic terras. Other than that though its been easy to use and the terras last forever.

There's still a ceramic donut in the v3 Terra's but the piece under the donut is made of quartz.

I'm not too sure about the actual construction of the Terra's in general though.

The Quartz Terra i've been using has performed like a champ and has great flavor, but I never tried the original ceramic Terra.

just started trying the quartz terra donut... its fantastic, taste is better than my older and well used double ceramic coil. not as immediate clouds but give it a 3 second warmup and it pulls big ones. I found this atomizer to take a bit of priming before producing big clouds. First rounds with it were not great, but after I loaded a good amount into it she came around and just started killin it!

Wow, any vids or pics of this? I'm curious what these fires look like

Just like the cherried balls of resin we used to smoke when we were young, ran out of weed, and decided to harvest resin from our old reliable pipe.

Eventually a gunk that reminds me of old weed resin starts to cake around the wick and you must either clean or burn it off with higher voltage cycles for a while, and that will sometimes combust, like resin can. It isn't explosive or anything. Pretty controlled and down deep in the atty, but I have noticed that if you let it gunk up too much before you burn it off, it is more likely to kill your atty with the burning resin cherry.

I hope that helps.

Anyone got tips for reducing splatter with the donut attys?

I like to prime it 1st before use .
Pulse/press the button to melt the concentrates into oil .
Then add the chimney part and hit .
I can't eliminate the splatters either , you just have to adapt .

I've suggested to add a mini chimney to attach to
the atty itself . So the splatters can drip back down onto the atty .

It seems like a standard issue with ALL donut attys ...

I finally had to clean my Orb XL today. It cleaned up really nice. It made me appreciate the overall design of the unit more. I unscrewed every part possible and have it near brand spanking new again. I even learned how to better clean the atty's. Looking forward to getting off work to enjoy some of those strong hits. Still using the triple coil why I wait for my replacement Orb bottom with the V3 threading so I can switch to the quartz terras.

The only minor issue after cleaning was it seems the paint can come off pretty easy. I got the Flosstradamus kit so mine is black and there are parts where the paint is coming off. I don't buy pieces simply for looks so I don't much care. A plain metal finish would be a better look.

Priming before use definitely helps with splatter however some is inevitable, but source parts are generally easy to reclaim from. I need to get some quartz terras soon, I've only used the ceramic ones.

I'm quite curious about the enail as well... missed the 420 sale & don't wanna drop $$ until I see a decent amount of reviews.

Since I typically clean via a lengthy ISO soak I never buy the colored parts, only the metal ones. Haven't had any issues cleaning the chrome pieces this way. I can't speak to the black chrome or gold ones though.

OK, so I love this pen. BUT, the charger is a piece of shit. My original charger broke after a couple weeks. The round metal piece came loose and broke off. I told them about it and they said they would send another, but it's out of stock ATM. So I ordered another from Amazon, same thing happened. I am able to stick the metal piece back in on this one and make it work, but it takes some doing.

I know these are only 2 bucks, but they suck. Does anyone know of another brand maybe that is better?

I use my phone USB charger. I don't trust the quality of vape chargers at all.

Yea, but it's the part where the pen screws into:

My bad, I got the Volt box mod so my usb works. I just realized I gotta use one of those with my puffco. I'd email Source. They should guarantee those for some length of time.

EDIT: Out of stock? My god you would think they would realize that isn't something that should get back ordered.

Just had a what the hell moment and went back to try a double wicked atty, after having fallen in love and pretty much exclusively switched to the double ceramics for the last several months.

I don't really know why I moved away from these so long ago, it is wonderful. Great big clouds, no spatter at all. Just have to be more mindful with the button to not get too hot it burns.

I dunno if my usage of the terra's is typical but I use a water tube attachment and start by priming the terra's until I know the concentrate is melted and the donut is beginning to get hot before I even take a draw. Then when vapor production begins I let the heat rip and start taking a draw while the terra gets very hot.

Using this method i get huge milky clouds that are almost(but not quite) as good as a torch and nail using the quartz terra's. Works very well for me, but I think the water attachment is necessary for this method to be comfortable.

Been loving my Orb with Terra's for a little while now.
Just got some Quartz Terra's and I don't know if it's because they are so new but they really seem to go through the concentrates faster than the original Terra's. Has anyone else noticed this?
They do help with some of the splatter since they are a bit deeper than the ceramics.

I always thought it had to do with the property differences of a ceramic cup versus a quartz cup. The ceramic cup spreads heat around more evenly, so any splatter on the walls drips back down onto the donut, and any melted below the donut can wick back up the walls into the donut.

With quartz it seems like it doesn't absorb heat like ceramic does. Splatter on the cup walls even a couple millimeters above the donut doesn't melt. When your load is finished and you can't vape more, some concentrate is still pooled around the bottom of the cup.

I still prefer the quartz Terra as I like the taste, it cleans to new condition after an iso soak, and any splatter gets reclaimed from cleaning for edibles.

BTW I've been spending a lot of time reading the Divine Tribe thread on FC, and it has great info about using temp control box mods with the Divine Tribe donut. I just ordered a TC boxmod and hope to apply this knowledge to use my Source Terra in TC mode.

Sorry for interrupting the conversation but @Ville23 requested some photos for size comparison of attys and different box mods. Thought I'd reply in this forum because this may help you all too.

The first one has the Source 3 on MiniVolt (council of vape), the 3 on Cubiod Mini (joyetech, sub ohm, temp control up to 70w) the eStick that comes with the Flosstradamus, and the source XL on regular sized Cuboid ( sub ohm, up to 150w [OMG!], TC).

Btw, waiting on the e nail attachment. Will report. **edit ... Lol I mentioned that erlier. Chalk it up to wake n bake!***

Ok, again, sorry for the interruption.

How are you liking the 150w cuboid? That's the mod I think I wanna pair with a 510 enail.

I love it. I think it will be a great counter weight for the enail. I love the fact that it takes two 18650 batteries so I can have back ups ready and charge on the go with an external charger. If you know how other joyetech TC mods work, such as the menu system, you'd find the interface similar. The upgradable firmware is a plus which is available boosting this beast to 200w. Really over kill but a plus if you vape regular ejuice.

The pluses: good stable base if you hook it up to a whip to an oil rig (I'm guessing that would help with the enail attachment down the line.), 2 swappable batteries.
Minuses: haven't had a problem yet unless you count lack of stealth. Which I'm not worried about it since I just use it at home hook up to my oil rig.
Hope that helps :leaf:

I'm very curious about this thing, it's odd that they haven't released any specifics on this enail when they're shipping on Monday.

I heard rumors on instagram that the full kit will come with a carb cap and a case for it, but I've seen neither of those things in any pictures or videos. Haven't even seen what their quartz or ceramic nail attachments look like.

I definitely like the idea of a portable enail powered by a smaller battery but we'll have to see how it turns out in practice.
