So here's another music thread but this one's a little different. Post up the songs that really hits you on an emotional level. Ones that bring a smile, ones that make you shake your head and wonder why you never heard this before, ones that give you goosebumps or...... just ones that simply brings up a tear.

Eva Cassidy recorded this Sting cover as she was dying from cancer at the age of 33. Not many people have ever heard of her but this was a voice that never should have left us. A voice that is just simply pure.

Indeed she left too early, I have her whole "Live at Blues Alley" album on my iPhone as selected songs which I listen to everyday. Her live performance was amazing!

This one touches me - it’s a tribute to the men, women and dogs (at end) who serve or have served in the military. And for those who haven’t, it’s a reminder of the sacrifices made for the freedom and safety of others.

Here are a couple from my favorite band, McDermott’s 2 Hours. The first one is about a young girl Nick (the singer/guitarist/songwriter) knew who died...I think I like the demo version he sent me even more than the album version but I’m not sure I should share that, and the second is about war photography.

If you like either, check out more McDermott’s 2 Hours and McDermott’s 2 Hours v Levellers albums; tons of great stuff, and while it’s not all as sad it’s all meaningful and about real people and real life, not just fluff.

Wanted to reiterate that this thread is not just about the lyrics that my move you but the voice, or the musical composition that moves you on an emotional level as well.

Remember Amy Lee from Evanescence who sang those gothic operatic songs like My Immortal and Bring me to life? (I miss that band). Well, she's no longer doing that but what she is doing is writing and singing children's songs. Talk about a 180 but her voice and her musical composition is still as recognizable on these songs as it was back when she doing much darker stuff.
