It seems they were sending out coupons for a free tub of this "Melt Butter Substitute" organic stuff. Didnt interest me until I read what was in it.

Each square of Rich & Creamy MELT Organic is truly good for you: certified organic, non-GMO (Non-GMO Project Verified), kosher and made with Fair Trade Fair for Life certified organic virgin coconut oil and Rainforest Alliance certified palm fruit oil.

I just picked some up but havent used it yet. Smells like coconut though! Anyone try this stuff yet?

Definitely interesting. I was reading the ingredients list and came accross something I've never seen before - "sunflower lecithin". Some kind of non-soy emulsifier I suppose.

I do like how it's balanced & not 100% unsaturated oils.
Still 35% saturated fat (from da coconut) which is good in my book.

Well I made a quick and dirty firecracker. Put a heaping tablespoon of top shelf ABV in with organic peanut butter, Reeses peanut butter cup minis, and a few spoons of that Melt stuff. Wrapped it in foil and put it in the toaster oven @325 for 20 minutes. Its in the freezer solidifying right now.

No idea when Ill get enough free time to eat it tho. Ill try tonight.

TBH ive never made an edible before and I only skimmed the thread on firecrackers here so.... did I do I right?

Looks good! Here's a recipe I've always had awesome success with! (Oven temps vary widely! Oven thermometers are relatively inexpensive and can let you know if your oven temps are so high that they start to boil off the goodies!)

I'm not picky when it comes to food, but I read somewhere that when a company wants to hide the nasty stuff in their ingredients, they will call them "natural flavor", these ingredients are legal to use in the food industry, but they don't have to disclose them for various reasons, why don't they let the public know? Did they run out of room in that little space where they wrote the ingredients? If that's the case, which I don't believe, then make the letters smaller.

Theres a legal difference between natural and organic (in the US as per the FDA). I see claims of organic on the carton. Did I miss something?

I see Natural Flavor as one of the ingredients, usually if one of the ingredient has questionable health related issues, it falls into natural ingredients, one of them is the infamous MSG., manufacturers don't have to disclose it under its name, but they hide it under natural ingredient and is perfectly legal, FDA sanctions that.

Edit: Sorry, Natural Flavors, not Natural ingredients. All I stated applies to Natural Flavors.

It has canola oil. I won't eat it.
And, yeah... "natural flavor" is usually bad news.

However, those two items are very small % of the ingredients, by my reading of the label, so if this was up against "margarine", I'd pick this flat out.

So, maybe instead of "I won't eat it", I'll correct that to "I don't think I'll buy that."

The oils are there so I don't see why it wouldn't work for medibles. I've used smart balance before in place of butter with fine results and the oils are similar minus the coconut oil as smart balance is olive oil based. I do love me some coconut oil though :)

Let us know how your experiments go.
