Sneakerheads

Any sneakerheads? I used to be all about having nice shoes/variety and kind of fell out of it for awhile....have needed to up my style game recently....

Went to the mall for some Christmas shopping and copped these Jordans :D

I walked in, these first ones that caught my eye, saw the price, immediately dismissed. Find another style that's cheaper, don't have my size. Find another style that's cheaper, don't have my size, find this style in a different color that was marked down, don't have my size....

Guy comes out and says, "We do have, X,Y,Z in your size" and these were one of them....took it as a sign

I could tell after I got home I started another addiction into another expensive niche hobby like vaporizers

1987 is the year i got serious about sneakers, thanks to the nike air.

went to the mall and got one of the first boxes. was my first nike shoe, previous to that i was all about reebok high tops, nothing else would do. anyhow i laced em up, got to the parking lot and said "i'll meet you at home mom", my feet never touched the ground...i was AIR running like i was being chased by rambo and balboa at the same time.

apart from hiking boots that air was the best quality shoe ive ever owned, had it for years and never deflated or tore. they were tossed in the trash due to smell one day when i was at school.

i like brooks running shoes now, mostly sit though. wish they lasted longer, shoe store tells me i should replace every 6-8 months, seems excessive to me.

I realllllly dig these. Went to casino, said "I want to win enough to buy a new pair of kicks" and I did :) so I got these.

They feel like wearing socks....and feel like I'm walking on air. And they surprisingly warm, it's 0 degrees by me and my feet feel fine! Whatever the knit material is, its stretchy and just like conforms to your foot. I really dig em!

Better photos there, idk it was hard for me to get the lighting right they really pop though. With black jeans, it's A-1 look lol.

I got to admit I really like the feeling of wearing expensive ass sneakers lol. It's akin to having that dope glass piece, that really nice vaporizer, etc. It's materialistic but feels good treating yourself to nice shit.

Looking to cop a nice pair of boots but idk. Winter is here but it won't be for long.

I see your Ashes of Lebron and raise you my new Adidas' Ultraboost all terrain

Those are sick, love the colorway. Heard great things about the boosts, probably will be my next pair once it gets a bit warmer

EDIT: Lol, they have an end of year clearance and I just bought some Burgundy Boosts Uncaged

I tried getting a pair of the Blue Tint Yeezy's a few weeks ago, never had tried to cop a shoe on drop. Learned a lot, get the CC info autoloaded in chrome, address autoloaded, get a page monitor, etc. I actually managed to add to cart but by time I put my address in they were sold out....like 30-45 seconds :/

Hmmm $220 seems a bit steep for adidas running shoes. Imo. I think I’d take the Lebron’s all day. Just my likes though. To each their own.
Yeah, the Lebron bottoms just didn't appeal to me. Quality is definitely there but if not for a little football pool windfall...I probably wouldnt of dropped the $$ on these or any other expensive sneaker.

Got OT from November and a reaaaaly nice Christmas bonus, I'm cashed out on vaporizers and vape accessories  so had to treat myself somewhere

I am but a simple man, my outfits are jeans + tshirt/hoody or shorts in summer. Basic stuff. I justify the shoes as an accessories that will upgrade any outfit, rather than spend $$ on just one outfit. That's what I tell myself anyways ;)

I love the white with black speckles but I wish it stopped there, I dig the bubbles for feel but I'd rather it just be white/black sole for style.

These are what I copped earlier, definitely a spur of moment decision. They had some red ones that caught my eye but too loud. Everything else too basic to justify the sale. Didn't see these til last minute they perfect balance. $126 for $180 shoe is a deal!

Not my photo but best I saw.

Now I'm seriously done for a minute though

If I were to be totally honest with myself I would’ve remembered my parents shelling out at least $100 for my soccer/basketball shoes when I was a teen/preteen. That was over 30 years ago. So $200 now a days is actually not that bad considering.

Nice pickup @HellsWindStaff !! I am wondering how those "bubbles" will hold up over time. Think it might make em harder to keep clean, but dunno.

One thing I've noticed over the years is that it seems all the new shoes will have like a really cool aesthitics, but then just 1 or 2 funky things about them that kill the look for me. I hearken back to the days of the OG Jordans.
@crawdad's shoe above, to me, reminds me of say a Classic car('68 Chevelle, '70 Camaro, etc). I just love the lines, the style, and such. Not that I can't appreciate the modern style. It's just something about shoes from that OG Jordan era that grab me.

Edit: Gotdammit...wasted hours looking at vintage Nikes all over the interweb

If you're not running religiously you could just monitor the bottom of the shoe for wear before replacing. If you're not running/walking a bunch they should last you a year or more. If the sole is wearing down to where the different color under the sole's top coating is visible it's time to get new shoes. If you're running them you shouldn't wait quite that long. Brooks has a reputation for being great for the hardcore runner but having a short shoe life for runners.

I run quite a bit, have been at it for decades and I'm also f'n old... so I take my running shoes seriously. Wrong shoe can mess me up for weeks or more.

I've tried other companies but Brooks is my go to (Adrenaline model) for years now. Read recently that Brooks' niche are the hard core runners. Tried other manufacturers and learned the hard way to stay with what doesn't cause me pain or injury versus whatever the "new thing" is. Some years I buy the new Adrenaline model for $120 but usually I buy a previous year if they treated me well because I know they work for me and are way cheaper.

Brook's changes up something each model year which is another reason I buy several pairs of the previous year's model once the new year's version comes out. If I have experience with the model I'm looking to buy I do it online otherwise I go to a running store where they let me try them out before I buy them.

Brook's has been doing the same pricing for years....just before the new year's version comes out the previous year's version go from $120 to $90. Once the new year's version are out the previous year's version go from $90 to $70-$80. Just ordered two pair of the Adrenaline 17s for $78 with free shipping directly from Brooks.

^ sounds about right, when i went into the store last to get the same exact brooks as i had previously the lady brought out the "new" version of it, totally different color scheme and i hated it...then showed me my old model which was discounted about 30-40 bucks so grabbed that one....addiction 12.

i'll go ahead and admit that i spent about 10 years getting lame ass new balance shoes since they were so cheap, they are quite the comfort shoe for sitting or walking to the fridge. ive yet to try those "are those socks or shoes" shoes.

Know what ya mean @crawdad.

I've been fitted at "running" stores where they put you on a treadmill and videotape your gait, take a watermark of your feet and work with you to find the right shoe. They even let me take them out to run them for a mile or so. These stores can cost a bit more but once I get the recommendation and shoes from them I purchase the next pair on-line.

Where I've gotten hurt was thinking I had been running long enough to "try" new types of shoes. Mostly because I was bored with the same ol' shoe. Minimalist and same support shoes from other manufacturers...... These new types of shoes felt great initially....lighter, good bounce, etc. A few weeks later - need to talk to Dr. Sholls. I'm beyond the point of shooting for personal records and just enjoy the run so I'm not enticed to try the latest thing.
