Ski Season - Which portable should I use?

Hey guys, so I'm new on this site, but I've lurked and done a lot of research here. I searched for threads relating to skiing and snowboarding, but really wasnt finding the information I want, so if you guys could possibly help it'd be much appreciated! Previously I had an MFLB and just wasnt a huge fan. Currently I have an Arizer Solo and absolutely love it. Works well at home, and I can take it with me to friends places and wherever else. Stealth wasn't a huge concern when I got it as I only planned to use it at home. However, it's the beginning of ski season for me and I wanted something that was possibly a bit more portable than the Arizer to take on the slopes. Now, between my ultra baggy coat and pants I think I have about 7000 ultra-deep pockets, and I also bring a ski pack. So Id easily be able to carry the Arizer, but in terms of usage it just seems a bit cumbersome. The long glass stems just kind of make it a pain, not to mention the unit itself is large for a portable.


So my question to you guys is, should I just stick with the Solo or would there be something I could use more easily? And if you advise I do stick with the Solo, are there at least some shorter stems to use, or something a bit more concealable? Ideally, I'd like to keep the price at about $150 or below, so I know there aren't a ton of options. Some of the ones I had been considering were the new Flowermate V5.0s or the Ascent(see a few on eBay go for around that price range) but would rather get some opinions from more experienced people. The one that I think best suits what Im looking for is the Flowermate, and the price is even more appealing. But let me know what you guys think!

Where are you going to use it? In the car, lodge, lift, or on the slopes? All of the above? A concentrate pen is the absolute best for use on or around the mountain assuming you can acquire or make concentrates. I'd avoid anything flame powered if you want to use it in windy conditions.

Look for a good used vape in the classifieds, your money will go so much farther!

Definitely looking to stay away from the torch lighters, just not something I really want to mess with even though I know they do have some awesome vaporizers. Hadnt considered the indica actually. Ill have to look up some about that. I also was considering a Pinnacle Pro if I could find one come up on eBay in my price range, but I do know that some of you guys have had issues with them which concerns me a bit.

Probably all of the above haha. And the Alfa does look REALLY appealing to me, I just was wondering if I was able to order one yet, as they do seem relatively new. Also, the $200 price tag is pretty steep.

I would avoid ebay for warranty prone vaporizers.. Stck to puffitup or other authorized sellers, they will most likely price match. Indica is great! Have you considered just a wooden stem for the solo?

I'd stay away from the pin pro for the slopes. Heating from cold you'd be lucky to get 3 full sessions unless you carry a battery pack.
I love my PnP but I hate the battery life.

You could check out @Edstnt he makes wooden stems for the Solo short ones too.

I was figuring I'd probably want to avoid them. And I had considered the wooden stem, and thats still in my list of options. A big reason I kind of wanted something different is because of the shape of the stem. I had brain surgery which effectively made me lose a lot of muscle control in one side of my face. Makes closing my lips around larger diameter cylindrical stems like the solo's very difficult for me, and even more difficult when it gets cold. Thats one reason the Flowermate 5.0s really appealed to me, was the flatter designed mouthpiece that is much easier for me to use. If someone made a stem like that, shorter with a flatter mouthpiece, for the solo it would be absolutely ideal. I have no idea if something like that exists though.

@Ed's TnT can likely make something to accommodate your needs. Ask him, I willing to bet that he could make exactly what you want and do it with style. Add a high capacity battery to the mix and you'll have a killer setup for the cold weather.

Just don't fall on that solo, I can't see that feeling too good.

I hear good things about the Imag+, but I've never used one. It looks like an e-cig, which would enable you taking on the lift or slopes.

I took my solo out in a McDonalds cup and just left it in my buddy's cup holder, and we'd just go "sip some McDonalds" whenever we needed a break from boarding :brow:

I usually carry a battery backup with me - they are pretty small these days, and most vapes that have a USB slot can charge and operate at the same time.

Greenskier - how would a whip work for you? I've been putting my Inhalater in my chest pocket (it was a test - working on a holder I can clip onto my jacket using a beener now) and leave the whip poking up. I can turn my head to the left and down and get a good grip on the whip and vape away without a lot of folk noticing. Great in cooler weather as the exhales blend right in with everyone else...

I'm not a skier, but I have the Indica portable. It would work well IMO on the slopes. It's compact and made of steel. It's easy to load with @Ratchett, the tool that was made to load the Indica from our dear FCer friend. The battery lasts for about 1 1/2 hours, maybe not as long in the cold.

It gives good vapor flavor and is very discreet looking. You could also use it as a hand warmer too.:tup:
