I always thought his 'stash was fake...lol

Yea, but they look like half the size of a 18650...wonder why they didn't just go for one.
My guess would be the two batteries equal 7.4 watts and the heater probably needs a higher wattage to perform up to par. All speculation of course!

I have to leave this board. I can't afford every new vape and now I really want this. The only thing that is keeping me from ordering is the no return. At some point it will end up at PIU and I can wait given that I hope to get the Zion somewhat soon.

There is actually a 30 day money back guarantee. If you don't like it 7th floor will refund you within the 1st 30 days.

Those are 18350s and this is undoubtedly the correct answer. The problem with stacked batteries is that it is important to keep the charges matched. If they aren't, the strong battery will reverse charge the weak one and this will likely result in destroying the battery at the least, and in extreme cases could cause overheating and a real disaster.

So what's the advantage to having two stacked batteries to a single 18650?

Yes!! You should always keep the batteries "married" meaning you always use the same two batteries either in the device or charging. Basically think of 2 batteries as 1. This will ensure both batteries are being equally drained or charged at the same rate.

It's nice that 7th floor is giving a charger with the vape but I would get one with a display so you know exactly what your batteries are charged/drained to.

@Likes2vape answered that. 18650s are either 3.7V (Li-ion) or 3.2V (LiFePO4) but this heater clearly needs more volts. The down side (aside from the safety issue) is shorter battery life since 18350s have a lower mAH capacity.
My bad...I read undoubtedly INCORRECT, when it was undoubtedly CORRECT.

it's still early. That makes perfect sense.

It seems like 18650s are everywhere...I low key rooting for standardization.

Jumped on the pre-order bandwagon today. Usually I dislike pre-order situations but the fact it is 7th Floor and that they are offering a 30 day money-back guarantee I can't see how a person could possibly go wrong.

I contacted 7th Floor regarding the color and they said they were not ready yet but will be before it ships. Accessories will be available too! Either way I feel very good about this purchase.

Thanks for the information about the colour. I was wondering about the colour too but was just going to trust 7th floor to sort it out.
This will be the best Valentines ever. First the arrival of my Sidekick and then the release of the Deadpool movie.

Hey no one knows the answer to my earlier question. What is that small black rectangle below the intake/ventilation holes on the side of the Sidekick?

Great video but is it just me or did Steve only get like 5 hits off that one bowl?

I was going to say the same thing. Little concerned that he got such few hits. If they were very milky it''d be one thing but they looked average sized.

That being said, I like the ease of cleaning this unit and the stirring tool that's already embedded in the top is a pretty neat feature. Hopefully we get more insight on the amount of hits and how strong they are from other videos when this releases.

His enthusiasm and clear passion for this product is contagious. It's clear a lot of thought and a lot of work went into this thing, I'm excited to see first impressions when it's out in the wild.

Oh yeah Damiana! Thanks for pointing that out. There is zero chance I will be using Damiana. When I heard him say it I just thought I was the name of the strain, like blueberry, NY Diesel, or Pineapple Express.

That's what I thought as well. I just figured he didn't get many hits as he didn't put much in but it makes more sense if it wasn't mj.

I love the fact you can use it with or with out the cooling rod. I wonder if it makes a big difference in draw restriction?

Edit: theres a new video of SSV Steve showing off the efast batteries they are using in the sidekick.

When Steve says 20 to 25 minute run-time on these batteries tells me what I needed to know. This relatively short run-time for me means about 2 or 3 sessions at the most per charge. This is okay with me if the batteries deliver strong power performance throughout the entire 20 to 25 minute run-time with 'very little' taper off. Two or three solid sessions per charge is something I can live with. I am primarily a 'lone vaper' so with two sets of batteries and I would easily be set for an entire day. I still have questions and they are especially still about battery run-time and how I will manage it. But why would you sweat anything about the Sidekick when you have this?

"The SideKick features the ability to do what no other vaporizer on the market can do, and will leave you will be so happy with your purchase! If not, we will refund you money within the first 30 days if you are not as happy as we are with this amazing portable vaporizer."
That statement is a lot of security and a reason to give the Sidekick a try. There is literally nothing to lose. Besides, it is important to mention it is a 7th Floor product and I am not aware of a 7th Floor product that is not excellent. I am very happy to take a roll of the dice on this vape.

:2c:
I don't remember what video it was but I'm sure Steve said the Sidekick should have a 60 minute run time. Although maybe I just read that somewhere because I have been reading as much as I can about the Sidekick. The anticipation for my Sidekick is killing me.

I think he meant with the 2 sets of batteries being included with the unit that you get a 60 minute run time.

Aside from liking the convection table top units from 7th Floor, what interests people in this rather pricy Chinese made conduction vape?

The stir attachment seems rather gimmicky in a conduction vape (I could see the use for one in a convection vape, though) and cooling rod seems to be a solution in search of a problem (except for the very few people who are extremely heat sensitive).

High price, conduction, made in China, short runtime, six month warranty unless you register with them (then two years); what am I missing that makes people think that this will be a winner?

You need to remember he was vaping Damiana and not our beloved maryjane
Are you SURE about this? the way he said it made it seem like it was for legal purposes.

I don't know too much ...but I don't think Colorado is known for its damniana...so why would he urge people to visit Colorado FOR the damniana?

I can see it being useful, they way it was used in the video DID seem a bit gimmicky though.

When I first saw it I was thinking that it was a similar idea to the mightys cooling unit.

If so...this is an advantage. Aside from 'cooling' the vapor, it also adds some baseline draw resistance that is key to producing satisfying hits for beginners who aren't vape savvy enough to implement their own draw technique and makes using the device fool/beginner proof.

made in China, ?
While I understand the intent, the impact sounds slightly prejudice. We all hate these 'Chinese vapes' and want things built in America, but the reality is EVERYTHING is made in China. Probably the devices we are logging on to post comments here as well. It's just life in a perversely obese capitalistic society.

I'm not really sure why people are under the impression that you can't create a new vape without reinventing the wheel. Vapes are vapes, it's a method of transferring heat to your herb. Let people make their imaginations.
This vape offers a portable from a company many of us are proud to be a part of
This vape offers sleek design and a sleek retractable stem
This vape offers a custom cooling vortex rod for YOUR enjoyment
This vape offers a very fast heatup conduction style vape
This vape offers full temp range directly from the vape itself
Has the potential to be very accurate with it's temperature readings.

You guys do realize that many vapes have attempted to make good vapes, that offer unique spins to their vapes, but they don't make work out, because the heat to the herb is 100% the most important part of a vape. How well and consistently it can heat the herb is what will determine if this vape beats other vapes. It can have all these gadgets, but if it doesn't perfect their heating system then the vape is not going to be used by many FC members, as the vape itself is the most important feature.

It's like, if you guys don't get halogen lights in your portable vape you're gunna be upset, cmon! This just offers a different selection. There's more than three log vapes out in the world...really? really? Let there be more than a few conduction vapes.

I have owned:
Arizer Solo, liked it but reliability was an issue. Battery doesn't charge and the case started cracking.
Arizer Air, liked it even more but even more reliability issues. Battery doesn't charge on two different units. I didn't know about the external charger option.
Pax 2, hated it from the first day. I couldn't get it to produce decent amount of vapor. I read something about a rolled screen trick?
My friends own:
Iolite, do not like it. The butane made the vapor crazy hot.
Divinci Ascent, it's okay but not good enough for me to buy one. Cleaning seems difficult.
The 7th Floor Sidekick on paper has everything I wanted in a portable vaporizer.
Stir my herb. Which is something I always do.
Removable batteries with an external charger.
Removable parts for cleaning.
A bubbler attachment.
I own a Silver Surfer and have been happy with it for over 10 years. I can't say this is the Sidekick is the best vaporizer ever because I haven't tried it yet but I can still be excited about my new purchase. I think what most people are excited about is the unknown. Most of my vaporizers I was excited about before I got them. You don't really know how things are going to work out until you personally try them.

Do you find the stated 20 to 25 minute run-time exciting? If you were to take this vape on a camping trip you would need a cool two dozen worth of batteries. The run-time is so ultra short it should be a considered a crime.

:2c:
Not only is 20-25 min pretty dang short but he pretty clearly stated in the previous video that it was an hour, which he said was very competitive with other portables. That's a huge difference and I think they kind of need to explain what the hell the deal is with that. Run-time is a significant measuring stick for a portable.

Oh and I don't find the stirring feature a gimmick at all. That's an awesome feature, imho.

:2c:

It's a crime for any vape that has a price tag of over $200 with their "discount" to only run 20mins. The funny thing is they actually want $300 for this vape. This is another vape that does nothing any more special than any other vape out there for it's price and some folks got sucked into a marketing ploy with his "enthusiasm". Also, I think that's a pretty big way to mislead folks by saying an hour run time to now you need 2-3 sets of batteries for a hour run time. Sorry no vape is worth a pocket or a bag full of batteries to get through the day.
