Good question.. im also interested in the answer to this.. i just started buying things and went 14mm...For years, all I ever wanted were 14mm rigs and it has allowed me to amass a little collection of 14mm bangers that I really love.
Are there any benefits to downsizing to a 10mm rig/joints? Does it improve flavor? Does anyone in here only use 10mm rigs, and why?
looking at a new rig from Evol Empire and am stuck on the fence... either get the lava/azul piece that grabbed my attention, or get a larger clear one with 14mm joints and larger volume.
I think I am going with my gut, and the lava/azul piece with 10mm joints... time to hit up 710 for some new 10mm bangers!
Well... I locked it in!
Cant fucking believe I am going to own an EVOL!
the first piece you see in this video is it...
I tried to put cost aside, the micro color was the same cost as the largest in clear...
Yo that's sick, the hollow foot action is so cool. Always wanted a hollow foot piece, great visuals.Well... I locked it in!

I'm thinking to buy a ball vape, the qaroma lite. I would just buy it in 14mm, I don't think 18mm will benefit me, since i don't want to get huge hits and 14mm is large enough for the most... Would you suggest getting the 18mm chamber too since it'd be only 20-25 bucks more? I'd rather invest the money in a 14mm kickhole chamber...
I totally get where you're coming from with the caps making more of a difference than the joint size. It's true that the right cap can significantly alter the experience.I like the 10s but once capped, I find it really difficult to discern- especially if you have different caps, I find they make far more of a difference in experience than the joint size.
Buckets are the same size, 25 or 30mm so you can take the same size dabs on either.
I do favor the 14s for cleaning as I do not dunk and it is easier to qtip up the stems.
At this point, I recommend buying on aesthetics. If you like a clean small setup get a 10mm rig. If you enjoy multiple joints and building a rig, grab some adapters. But after all this, I don't recommend buying based on joint size if you are expecting performance change. I find much more notable changes with different banger/cap combinations.
Here is the real general tip too, 14mm rigs tend to be slightly larger/heavier and generally tolerate enails better if that is what you favor.
The smaller rigs won't tolerate much weight without tipping over.
I have had the opportunity to try some real small 10mm rigs and while I commend the flavor experience, I did not like how much heat the whole piece absorbs after a 10 second torching.
Don't see many 18mm bangers....so no 18mm...???....
