Should I get a DBV?

Hey everyone,

Vaping has quickly taken me by storm. I started off with an Iolite and have an MZ on the way (got a friend to order it for me from the US). I've been reading up on the forums about how the MZ/PD is great for controlled amounts and efficiency. Bowl sizes are tiny to make sure you can't have too much at one go. I'm looking for something completely the opposite now. I want a vaporizer that can give me some monster hits for the end of day. I don't want to have to rely on rolling joints just to get completely wrecked.

I have about $200 to play with. The black DBV will cost me around $220 with shipping and tax to my doorstep in Toronto from vaporizers.ca.

Does anyone have any recommendations for some hard hitting vapes for the same price range?

Considering the exchange rate I would highly recommend you look south of the border. For 220$ you should be able to buy one in a local headshop. I'm sure more then one store carry those in TO.

Good call. I checked out Vape World and can get it for under $200 cdn including shipping costs with the FC coupon. I'll probably look around for another day and if I can't find anything else, I'll order from here.

Last time I looked, vapeworld was the only dealer NOT charging $20 more for a black DBV. So if you want black, it's a no brainer. And black or not, you won't find a better price for a new DBV than 12% off.

Hi Max,

You're right, I couldn't find a better deal with 12% off. I just purchased it today. The price has been raised like the other sites, but the black version just blends in too nicely with my furniture and electronics.

This means I now am the owner of an IO, MZ, and DBV. Too bad I only am holding the IO as we speak. Waiting is the hardest part.

All that you need is to get a bag vaporizer and you will have all your bases covered! The Launch Box is more portable than the iOlite... but for the time being you are definitely well catered by those devices that you bought. :D

Bag delivery is nice if you can afford another $200+, but personally, my herbalAire just collects dust unless we have company over where it's just easier to let them suck a bag. I tend to go through more herb with bags and don't get much enjoyment from it. After a while it just gets boring. Every hit is the same and diluted, like light beer. :/

If you like or already own some glass i recommend the $20 down stem for Da Buddha.

It cools the vapor down some more making for smooth hits as well as filtering any partials.

You also have the same advantage that a bong has when smoking with regards to filling the chamber and taking big rips.

Just got it in. Way sturdier than I thought. Blown away after two bowls. Combusted one by accident. So baked.

hey beez...have you tried an ssv? I know you love your buddha, and I am about to get an ssv. But I wonder if the ssv is worth the extra $$. I just wonder how much better the ssv is than the buddha with regards to hit thickness and ease of use.

I helped someone select a vaporizer but they are not a friend and I only tried when they got it and helped explain how to set it up. I think their son was more interested in it then the person needing it was. Anyways my experience is very limited with only one wand vaped so I would not say I have any hands on experience with it to give an insightful perspective based on that alone.

I can say what I understand about it and ive spoken to at length with various SSV owners and from my very limited experience with it I believe the differences mainly to be dependent upon your vaping mannerisms. The SSV I believe is capable of stronger draws but only when used with an experienced vapist who knows when to turn and rotate the wand which is more important with the SSV than the DBV and I believe it is due to a narrower air stream in SSV in comparison the DBV.

I did notice it was more important to stir with the SSV but like I said, its hard to truly say one way or another with just one wand. I would say if they were vehicles, the SSV is a manual and the DBV is an automatic version of the same high performance car.

Personally, I think the design is more important. I like the DBV having the temperature dial on the same side facing me as I vape and I like the hands free aspect of the DBV. Though the main choice in me going with the DBV was the price but I have seen people state they chose the SSV due to aesthetics.

The few comparisons I have seen rate them very close and I agree. For a new vapist I would imagine they would have a bit of a learning curve more so than with the DBV, particularly at the points when one should stir and when to rotate the wand but for an experienced vapist I think it adds to the dimension as its like "your" cooking out the vapor where the DBV is more evenly vaped through its design.

I hope that helped and I recommend contacting Tokin for a good comparison. I believe he uses a DBV and an SSV.

For an average user, I would say and believe the performance to be negligible.
