Im intersted in how many people prefer rosin rather than bubble, BHO, etc.
Can it be added to this thread's poll? Or should we consider the "other" option as rosin. Lol.

I like rosin way better than a lot of BHO but there are some producers who put out some killer meds. I'm just a squish newbie so once I get this dialed in I doubt I'll ever even consider BHO to be a contender. When I first answered this survey it was shatter, but I havent had any shatter in at least 2 years.

I like the taste of Bho over rosin too, but 'psychologically' like rosin because I don't have to worry about solvents. Rosin has a deep earthy but muted flavor (ime) which some ppl may like
To me rosin tastes closer to the starting material, BHO tastes like candy, sweet, exaggerated.

It all comes down to extract artist. Ive had some shatter that tastes like a steele worker's ballsack. Others that were unequalled in their perfection (violla comes to mind).
I have found store bought rosin to taste the worst. Perhaps they use too high a heat searching for better yields... was not a fan.

I'd say so. I hated rosin until I pressed my own, though I've seen lots of high end brands on Instagram doing rosin so the stores are selling it, just smaller batches I guess.

Most places are not pressing flowers like you guys at home do. They make bubble then press the bubble into rosin.
Add in the fact of shadier stores using trim runs to make bubble before pressing, and it's easy to see why some peope rave over rosin and some people are like, "this doesn't look like what I see on Instagram".
I have had some rosin done by reputable companies that was nice, but nothing in store ever compared to what I, or friends, have achieved by pressing straight flower. But the time and yields by pressing flower vs making/pressing bubble, are more than likely why you don't see the results of Instagram or even what some of our folks here have done on their own. Personally I prefer bho shatter. The nice thing about 'store bought' is that it has been tested for residue solvents. At least our dispensary carries tested products.

There is a problem with concentrating weed grown with pesticides.
You're not just concentrating the cannabis, but also the toxins.
Recently it's been found that the use of insects in grow rooms to combat mites is a problem.
Who would've thought their feces were extremely toxic. Then you concentrate them 100x.
So cannabis that passes most tests can make errl that does not pass tests.
So growers and manufacturers are dealing with this issue.
Some are using only cannabis tested as organic to make their errl out of
The shatter/errl/wax I often get is certified by SC labs to be residue and pesticide free, although I think there are 'acceptable limits' in the evaluation.
Nonetheless, this IS a serious issue with concentrates.
Also, keep in mind, OMRI or any other standard is 'safe to eat', not necessarily to smoke or vape.
That's my thought anyway.
Many farmers who thought they were growing organic are failing testing.
There are a lot of factors. Like where your soil comes from, and of course the ferts.
If something is 99% organic -- multiply that 1% by 100x when you make concentrates.
Doing this is making errl that fails tests.
I hope everyone out there is doing it safely.
Rosin appears to be the purest choice, although rosin made from chemical weed.......is chemical rosin.
So using organically grown cannabis is important. Again though, cannabis that tests OK may still make concentrates that won't pass.
I'm glad you brought this up. I'm in California myself however where I'm living the dispensaries are very strict and have passed surprise tests.

I use the Vista vape for party & the Lavabox M
with donuts with co2 oil & shatter mix.
This stuff is softesh but will crumble if I squeeze
it in my fingers, seems nice consistancy.
Can I use the QDC coils ?

Is it full melt? If so you can use a donut coil but a real one like the QDC (if we are talking about yocan wax pen style coils).
If you need to make that bubble "fult melt" to dab it in a waxpen, or dilute it into something for your e-juice style mix. Then look up hair straightener rosin. But you only need very low heat, like 160f to press out bubble hash. You also want a 25 micron screen or filter. You can use a hash pressing screen to do this into parchment paper.
