I use Newport when I can but I ran out.
Yea that power 5 is garbage but cheap. Nice run though. Do you blow into a Pyrex dish or right on the sil pad? Do you use low heat or what? Do you mess with it a lot or not at all?

You should always run into a pyrex dish. Purge in pads is fine in a vac as far as I know, but the actual first run with the butane should always be into pyrex or a (safe) metal dish.

Even before my vac I didn't, aside from popping bubbles. You'll end up just mixing in your butane.

Going straight to the slick mat is fine if its been winterized i blast into a mason jar let the butane purge out and pour in warm everclear to remelt then winterize/filter. Then its straight to the slick sheet. Everclear/Iso will not break down the slicksheet however butane will.

Pretty sure it has to do with the heat level when purging. Too high heat makes a waxy crumble like that IIRC. I'm sure someone will correct me though.Not the most amazingly clear or super high yield, but I ran about 20g of material and yielded a little over 3.5 of this really powdery dusty flakey stuff
I wonder if I did something wrong/why i ended up with this rather than chunks of shatter

Sadly got a bit warmer and I didn't get to tend to it as much as I hoped so this batch came out a bit darker than I hoped, but DAMN is it powerful!

Girl Scout Cookies CO2 Extract. Yumm.
Great for vaping and other fun and medicinal activities. There's about 400 gr here @ 10% ratio. The lighter terpenes and flavinoids are fully present. No post-processing (yet).
FYI the last set of honeycomb pix was of Blue Dream mixed hydrocarbon extract. Getting about 18% from select close trim.
All our work is tested for solvent residue and has no detectable residue of any kind. All pure ingredients and organic herb. Typical potency is aroud 85% THC.
Nothing is heated above 90F and then only briefly. All is vacuum purged. Lots of THCA and CBDA so these extracts are great for medicine.
Loving the craftsmanship you all strive to achieve. Some great pics of shatter and glass here. Gives me that warm holiday feeling....

I made this for vacuum purging.
I used EVERCLEAR and ISO before to make wax.
BHO so far is easy to extract.
Heat purge + vacuum purge.
I never run out of SHATTER!
BHO 7X easy to work with.
I built my vacuum purge for less than $200.
CO2 would cost you about $5,000 and is very dangerous!

The problem is the SHATTER i like is $90/gram.
I can make the same quality with a can of 7x Butane.

@ataxian from what I read heat purge is really only thing needed but I have a hand pump so I might as wel vac it two or three times forsafety sake? I can't spend 200 on a vac pump setup at this point but I only like to do small runs awayway 10-17 grams so I don't really think I need the vac pump just yet

Vac pump makes a WORLD of difference, you *can* do heat but it will take 12 hours or more just to try and reach that same level. A hand pump will leave you out a few bucks and you'll have a sore hand for the most part. I'm glad I finally got a pump.

Mine was about $2,000 at the store that sells them however I built mine myself for less than $200.
I can make TOP SHELF SHATTER in less than 30 minutes.
I load carts that never clog.
I'm sure you could do it cheaper?
VACUUM PURGE I believe is essential!
I can make a bunch or just a weeks supply.

I wired mine for 220V however 110V is what most people do.
My wood shop had 220V already.
I made funiture EXOTIC WOOD veneers so I had this laying around.
After my wife asked why I spent so much money on medicine I had to think outside the box!
So I make my on SHATTER.
ISO or EVERCLEAR worked however not as well as BHO.
I purge to achieve the flavor profile and health benefit!
I'm going to do this my next batch!
