Full disclosure: There is a small crack in the wood, as pictured. I took off the bottom plate to flip the orientation of the power cord, and the crack occurred when I was screwing the bottom plate back on. It has been that way for a long time and the crack is not getting any worse and the unit functions exactly as it did before the crack. See pictures.
