Rusted screen?

Yesterday I used water to clean my screen on my vapor brothers whip, and today I realized that possibly could have been a poor decision in case my screen rusts. Theres a slightly brown spot in the middle of my screen, which is what I'm afraid of. On their official retailers site it does say to rinse the alcohol out with water, which leads me to believe that it should be safe. I know they're cheap to replace but I really don't feel like paying for something where the shipping costs more then the actual product, plus I don't feel like waiting :p . I tried sending them an e-mail but who knows how long it'll take to hear back. Is this anything to worry about?

Rusted screens are the leading cause of vaporizer related deaths and unfortunately there's nothing that can be done. If I were you I'd be very worried. :2c:

Ha thanks didn't realize rust was removable. But do you think that it may not even be rust in the first place?

I didn't know there were any vaporizer related deaths, let alone multiple causes for them. Are you just fucking with this guy or are there some articles I should read? Either way, breathing rust can't be a good idea!

I think he was joking...I hope :p . Anyways I did the cola and tinfoil trick I can't tell how well it worked, I can't decipher if its actually brown or if I'm way too worried about this. Anyway should I not rinse with water anymore even though it says it on their site? I'm surprisd this isnt a more common issue

Alcohol is a solvent and a much better cleaning agent for vaporizer or pipe parts. A quick rinse with hot water afterwards is a good idea, but you need to dry immediately. Any part that can't be dried with a cloth needs a good hard flow of air for drying purposes, like a hair dryer.

Rust is oxidized metal and breathing it is a bad idea. Even stainless steel can rust. In fact the shiny surface of stainless, that apparently resists rust, is actually a form of rust itself. It stays put though and resists other forms of rust. But it's always a good idea to keep stainless dry.

If the spot really is rust, I wouldn't use it. You can get a pack of 100 stainless steel screens from various online sources (including eBay) for about $6 w/free shipping, whatever size you need-probably 1/2" or 5/8".

Not if it's the typical brass or ss. I've never seen rust on an herb screen.
