Here is something I bet most haven't tried? It is an old family recipe, or maybe it is a common Asian recipe? I don't know... but give it a shot! you might like it
First... start steaming a serving of short grain rice. The typical rice you find at a Chinese restaurant. If you don't have a rice cooker.... get one, they're awesome!
While the rice is cooking...
I like to mince a couple pieces of garlic, and get that going in a little olive oil. Just before the garlic starts browning, I will add an egg or two and let that side cook until I can easily give it a quick flip and sear the other side while trying not to break the yolk. (Any over easy egg works for this recipe, I just like garlic.)
Take the eggs, and set them to the side. Cook up a couple pieces of bacon, or preferably, have a few pieces cooked on the crispier side and cooled off a bit, so that they are easy to crumble.
Take finished rice, put it in a bowl.
Add bacon, crumble over rice if you like.
Add the two over easy eggs.
Add soy sauce (Just a few dashes)
Add ketchup (Just a few squirts)
Start mixing it all up, you want the yolks to run into the hot steaming rice... this is the best part!
Taste it...
Likely add a bit more soy sauce and ketchup to achieve preferred concentration. Or maybe not, but it's always easier to err on adding less at first before adding more, if you know what I mean!
Prepare to enjoy something amazing!
