The Rubi is a small concentrate pen that uses refillable pods. It is similar in form to other new releases using this style of power source. The unique quality of the Rubi is that the pods are available empty. They are quite easy to fill, and I currently am running my 3rd refill in a pod. They seem to hold about .4-.5g. The power source charges via USB. Although the power source is relatively small, it will hold up to a full day of use before needing a recharge. Unsure of the internals of the pod, I have read/heard that there is a ceramic element wrapped in cotton. I don't bother trying to clean the pod before refilling, just top off the level as needed. The pod has a removable plug on its side to allow you to fill with a small gauge syringe. Welcome any fellow owners of this device.

I just got one and it’s pretty great. My local dispensary (MA) has pure distillate carts so seems healthier than the Pax Era carts. Only used it once so far, will report back after I’ve spent some time with it.

I've found distillate to be the best material to use in these pods as well as the glass and ceramic Ccell cartridges which I prefer due to the slight plastic taste from the Rubi pods.
I reached out to Kandypens suggesting a glass and ceramic pod and while they thought it was a good idea, there are no plans for that in the near future.
IMO Distillate is really a game changer in the pen vape arena. The potency is fantastic and the taste does not degrade to a burnt flavor at all. @V_for_Vaping are you finding that to be the case with the pre-filled?

@Adobewan Yes, a couple of our RMDs in MA sell the Rubi and one at least fills theirs with their distillate.
So far I haven’t used it enough to know how the flavor holds up. For now it still tastes really good and is super potent.

I've no experience with a Pod oxidizing, but I've scrubbed the interior of the pod with these rubber toothpicks, before using only distillate in them. You can reach most of the interior of the Pod, as well as "pipe clean" the holes in the mouthpiece with them.

Unfortunately, the plastic pod(I've already suggested glass pods to Kandypens), and the cotton in the coil(bummer!), wouldn't be ok soaking in ISO.
You might try a strong dish detergent with the Soft Picks, but be sure to rinse thoroughly and give it a day or more to dry out before using.

Thanks so much! I've had one person suggest vinegar, but I tried using white vinegar to clean the disposable syringe I used to fill the pods and it just made a mess, getting concentrate anywhere the vinegar touched. I'll def have to give those toothpicks a try.
As a side note, the oxidizing happened when I tried to use NETA Buddha's Sister shatter and EJmix ejuice liquid. I slightly heated them to get the shatter to dissolve into the mix, and then injected it into a pod. It worked well, but halfway down the pod began getting a dark color to it, and by the time I was finished the liquid went from an amber to almost solid black. The second pod I've prepared with the same mix doesn't even vape anymore, just dry hits - and it spits the ejuice back into your mouth sometimes. If anyone's had experience with this brand of ejuice or any suggestions on how to make this setup work better, I'd love it. But I know that's not what this thread was intended for - I'm just not sure where to post this. Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks!!!

I saw this either at VaporNation or at KandyPens: soak the pod in vinegar, rinse thoroughly and allow to dry.
I ruined a pod by trying to clean it with alcohol.
I've had the Rubi for about a month now, and it works great and produces beautiful clouds of vapor. I make my own oil and canna-juice at home, so I wanted a re-fillable tank/pod. But I've had some problems with the pods which, even at $5 a pop (officially $10!!), are expensive. They say they are leak-proof, but they aren't.
So I decided to purchase another pen with a re-fillable glass tank. I decided on the Kandypens Prism.

Thank you so much for the suggestion! Just for clarification, would that be white vinegar? I've also got Apple Cider vinegar. Also wouldn't this affect the cotton inside the pod, when you go to use it after cleaning and drying will it taste like vinegar? Ah well either way I'll give it a shot, can't hurt if I was already going to throw the pod away. Thanks again!

pearchaos, I did clean a pod with white vinegar, and could not get the stink out, so I tossed it. Cream City Vapes sells them 3 for $19 and with one of their coupons, I ended up paying $6 per pod.

My Prism pen arrived a couple of days ago; I also ordered the glass cartridge for my home made oil/juice. I LOVE THIS PEN!!! It works excellently on the lowest heat setting! As soon as my next grow is done, I will make some shatter to use in the ceramic atomizer, but this pen rocks. It's very solidly built and I personally prefer to use glass for my juice rather than plastic. The Rubi pen works well, but the pods are plastic and do tend to leak.
I got a 30% discount using vape critic's code from his website; can't beat the price with a stick!!!
So that's my two cents' worth. Very satisfied customer. Will report in another month or so to let you know if I'm still happy with it.

I found the reasons for the Rubi's leaking issue after about 5 pods. The problem is there is a black seal towards the bottom of the tank right below the air hole. Most of my leaks have come from that air hole and I think it is happening when that rubber seal gets to much heat. So either leaving the Rubi in sun or taking back to back hits will cause that seal to degrade causing it to possibly move and cause the leaking issues. I am no expert but after using a few pods they all have the same issue but when they do work , they work well and put out huge clouds. So if you have a Rubi just try not to take many back to back hits or have it in direct heat.

Just got my Rubi today. Took about a half hour to charge out of the box. I filled the refillable pod up with 1 gram of distillate which conveniently, is the exact capacity of the pod. ( 1 ml) It was easy to fill the pods with a syringe, although they include a helpful little squeeze bottle with a very small nozzle that fits nicely into the pod opening. I placed the little cap on the pod, "primed" it and took my first draw.
I've never used a "draw activated" vape before and it's a pleasure not having to deal with any buttons. I got a nice big cloud on my first draw. Very tasty. There's an 8 second shutoff which I found was more than adequate. First impressions: The Rubi is small, sleek, and lightweight...a fine performer. Using it with distillates, which have no odor, is the ultimate in vaping discreetly!
