I want to post a significant development in this thread. I have found a method of getting rid of the things growing in my glass from the cranberry extract. My present solution may not be practical for most BUT it should lead to a solution that will work for everyone I hope.
Many of you know that I drink electronically restructured (ionized) water from a weird looking machine that allows me to select the PH I want. Now, I drink alkaline water for health reasons and had been vaping through it for a while. It was interesting but not mentionable UNTIL I decided to turn the PH down and make some acid water.
Now on the machine they show the acid water being used for cleaning nasties (see photo below) so it should not come as a surprise to me but I found out that if I use acid ionized water, with a PH of like 3 or 4 when I mix up my vaping fluid, that nothing has grown in my glass for over a week. The water seems fresher and nicer as well and seems more robust in its ability to handle activity without becoming fouled.
OK so low PH or acid water kills mold/bacteria etc . . . duh. Seems obvious now . . .
So I realize not everyone can go out and buy a $1700 water ionizer BUT we should be able to use citric acid or vinegar or something, hopefully without taste or hazard, to lower the PH in vitro and achieve a similar result. That is what I will be working on in the next few weeks as I continue to confirm what I see working so well in my lab right now. Please keep in mind that I combine this with regular cleaning and sanitation of my glass which I feel is really important.
