Revitalize old bone dry bud to fresh like it was when it was just cured.

To my fellow vaporists just wanted to share something i found to make vaping easier.

I store my herb in a cigar humidor (12x12x4 box with cedar lining inside) I found doing this takes very dry bud and revitalizes it. I like to keep the humidor around 50% humdification. And found i can achieve it for a week or 2 by using a new sponge cut in half and wetted with distilled water. best to place it on plastic surface like an old baggie or whatever you find to suit the need that will fit in humidor.

been doing this for 2-3months and all my herb is fresh like when i first got it. buds feel sticky stems are stronger like when fresh.

Pretty neat tip! I've always re-vitalized my herb via orange or banana peel. Haven't had to re-vitalize in years though.

You can use Boveda packs to make this much easier, and it last longer. You can use c-vault storage unit that utilized the boveda packs also.

sure ya could but why would you want to?

1 gallon distilled water $2.00 purchased 3mos ago still 3/4 left in it.
4 pack sponges $2.00 1 cut in half to use and 3 and 1/2 for whatever else ya might need them for

I had a few Humidors but I do like those C-vault units looked good for herb use.

But what I have now works.

For someone who wants to try If ya dont have a humidor handy and dont mind paying for humidty packs that last 2-3 mos. The C-vault's do look like they could do the job just need the right sized packet to use in them.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend a humidor. You do run the risk of transferring the flavour of the cedar wood to your herb, and the humidity can be a challenge to maintain, as they are designed for maintaining humidity in cigars, which require a higher moisture content.

Great if you can get it to work for you, but those are a few things to consider before running out and buying a humidor.

I have a cvault, and I did notice when I first bought it and tried it out with some pretty dry stuff that "the stuff" looked, felt, and (maybe) even smelled better a few days after being in the vault. A good way to revitalize.

Yeah, I think I'm going to get a couple cvault containers. I'm using mason jars right now, and although they're better than a plastic Baggie, they're not that great for longer term storage. I usually buy an half ounce of top grade at a time. I'm not a heavy user so a half oz. will usually last me about 3 months. Can the Cvault keep herb fresh for that period of time? I was also wondering how easy it is to clean the containers.....

The boveda packs last about 2 months, apparently if the herb is still curing though they last alot less. The magic is in the Boveda pack though, not the Cvault, although they are nice. You could achieve the same results with a mason jar and some 62% Boveda packs. The Cvault says it is dishwasher safe but it is easy to clean anyways, I find resin doesn't stick to it as much as a glass jar.

Do you recommend using the Boveda packs in a mason jar with newly bought fresh herb, or do you wait a couple weeks and add the pack to revitalize when the weed starts to dry?

I use blimpies - just got to watch for it getting too moist, usually put one in my jar overnight and the next day its perfect.

Yeah you might as well. The point of drying and curing is to slowly get the bud to 10-13% Moisture content and keep it there. Assuming your bud is pretty fresh and moist when you get it, as long as it's dry enough to be sealed airtight, you want to use the packs immediately. Only if the bud was still curing and needs to be burped would you not really need them yet. I haven't tested it but the company claims you can use them for curing too, so I don't think there is really too early a time to start storing your cannabis with Boveda packs. You certainly don't want to risk waiting too long and the cannabis getting below 10% moisture content.

For awhile I was just using some leftover Boveda packs from my cigar days, and popping those in a glass jar. Works well for keeping things fresh. Nowadays I don't worry about it all that much. Seems the glass jars keep it just dry enough for the vapes I have.

Get an acoustic guitar humidifier like this. If you have any music shops in your area they will carry them for sure. Just tape that to the lid of a glass jar and let it sit for a day or two.

If you constantly get unacceptably dry herbs though, then you should invest in a CVault. They have a built in humidification system that keeps the moisture in the container exactly at the right level for months on end and the replacement packs are just two bucks. PlanetVape sells them

Other than it being very dry and brittle, does anything negative happen when you get below 10%?

I put a nugget from the cannabis cup in a container with a boveda packet in it and it totally messed up the flavor of the bud. These were handed out at the cup, I picked up several as did some friends and it did the same to the others as well. It dulls the taste to nearly nothing.

Just lemon peels easy. Since I store mine unground and unshred in black jars in fridge. I just add peel. Makes it really easy. Most easy method used.

Adding Lemon or Orange Peels is a great way to add organic matter that breaks down into mold. Definitely a bad idea, it causes mold had it happen when I was 16... never again.

I use a humidor and also keep it at 50% humidity, been using it for months never any mold. Also I use distilled water to prevent any organic sediment or anything from tap water.


Also a humidor is sweet for determining if you are being scammed, Ive called out my guy for giving me wet bud. When you have multiple dealers it pays to let them know you are on to their bullshit dampening tactics. Recently I had received a half and in 20 minutes inside the humidor the meter was over 65% !!! Was not happy, he had the nerve to say it was over 14... Of course it was, you added 2 grams of water. Since my guy is twice removed from a grower, I wouldnt buy the notion he got an uncured batch from the grower.

i don't like it when it is "explosively" dry and it turns to powder and when it is so fine there isn't much surface area to come in contact with the heat. just my opinion

gotcha, so we're talking corpse-mummy dry? Where I live in Cali, constant cool fog so nothing ever gets dry here.
