replacement for purple days? and DBV potentiometer question.

So, I haven't been on the forum much for a year or two, still been vaping, just haven't been following it as as much of an enthusiast as before.

Anyway, I was surprised a couple months ago when my cherished purple days died and I found out they had closed up shop. I also tried the myrtlezap website and chrome is telling me there is malware on the domain. So I'm not sure what's up with them.

So I'm mainly asking what if anything has filled the void left be purple days shutting down and are the myrtlezaps gone too?

Ideally i'd get something very similar, with a good reputation for light dosing / efficiency, i need to conserve. I've been running out way faster since going back to the DBV full time.

Also, to head off launch box replies, I already have one, looking for a plug-in.

I enjoy the buddha, but my wallet doesn't, plus the potentiometer is going in it, large dead areas on the dial. Anyone done the replacement themselves?

Thanks.

First off, welcome back!

This is an easy answer in my opionion, check out the Epic E-Nano thread! Conservative just like any other log and judging by the several videos, it's versatile for big hits (direct or thru glass). The thing that separates it from all other logs (STOCK) is that it's has a temperature dial! Previous PD owners are saying the E-Nano is superior but that's some big shoes to fill.

Also, check out the Underdog vaporizer. Very positive feedback over there and a little bit more tested since its been out longer. Both will only set you back $200~.

No answer on the DBV question but hope I helped man!

There are two other log vapes to consider too. The HI and the TT (Toasty Top). There is a wait list on these, but that should be getting taken care of in short order since Alan, the maker, has now moved.

The HI has more air flow (much like the Nano and UD) than the older style log vapes (PD, MZ). The TT, however, is a bit more of a restricted draw and would be more like the PD. The difference here (and with the Nano) is that there is no insulation used. Basically just wood and stainless steel (and some aluminum in the Nano). The charring problem of the PD and MZ have been eliminated with this new generation of log vapes too.

Unfortunately, the MZ and CRZ are no longer available either. Rick ran into some major trouble with the law that is still being sorted out. They will no longer be in business, however, no matter what the outcome.

Doesn't Dave (Underdog logs) do PD repairs? I think I remember hearing that around the time Purple Days closed.

What website were you on? I cannot find the CRZ homepage anywhere, I assume it got shut down. Maybe the one you were on is a fake?

No, he has stopped doing them. He found that the majority of the PD's coming in for repair were too badly charred to fix.

thanks for the quick replys, glad to see momofthegoons is still around, I will take a look at those new gen log vape threads, e-nano is an early favorite.

still hoping to hear from someone that has repaired a DBV, anyone know if the radio shack knob cleaner would work at all even?

Hey rabblerouser

You may want to try what I did with my DBV. I got an 18mm/14mm reducer for $20 at lhs (saw $10 online) and use a 14mm/14mm male/male gg adapter as the bowl/wand. 7th floor sells a 14mm wand for $19.99, but I think the 14/14 m/m adapter should work just as well. You just don't get wand hash, or at least as much. I bought one with a donut handle (better than post handle) from a lhs for $10. I also use a shortened (1/3 length) whip for a more direct hit.

This definitely increases the efficiency significantly. You can easily load bowls down to .01g. The problem that I found when I load bowls that small was that I had to turn the heat up to get a satisfying hit with it, and the taste wasn't that great. I am using about .05g bowls and get 1 great tasting choker, 1 good tasting choker, and 2 or 3 more decent hits. I set the temperature so that even the slowest hits don't combust and I get a light brown abv.

Another cool thing about this method is that you can switch back to the 18mm wand if you want more massive hits, which I sometimes want at night, or you have friends over and you need to load bigger bowls to pass around.

I haven't repaired the knob, but I'm sure they are reasonable from 7th Floor, and would be very easy to replace yourself.

Happy Vaping

Edit: In my original post I mentioned trying .01g bowls. These weren't weighed out, and I thought my previous eyeball estimates might be off. I only have a scale that goes to .1g, so to get a fairly accurate measurement, I ground up some Kandy Kush really fine and dropped a pile on the scale until it just tripped to .3g (could have gone to .1g or .2g, felt that .3g may be more accurate even with eyeballed 3 piles). I then started another pile until it tripped .4g. I split the smaller pile into 2 piles and add to the larger pile. I then split this pile into 3 eyeballed piles. This gives me .1g, which I halve, quarter, eighth, to give me .0125g, or 5/4 of .01g. What I thought were .01g bowls were closer to .006g, and is why I didn't get a good tasting hits.

I can get 1 pretty good tasting semi-choker hit from .01g, and a little more. I, personally, prefer to load larger (.05g) bowls and get one great tasting huge hit with several more decreasing (taste/size) hits.

thanks for the suggestion, i actually ordered an e-nano already, but that may let me get more use out of the DBV. I don't have to worry about turning it up, i have to use it on high already, because like halfway to 7/8ths of the way on the dial is dead. I operate in that upper eigth of the dial right now. Gonna wait till it dies totally probably before trying to replace the potentiometer or take it apart to try the knob cleaner.

I do think the great taste is gone out at the high temps i have to use.
