Nice lookin' shop. These guys are going to be swamped.

Prices are going to be high due to the cost of packaging and mandatory testing. Will definitely be higher then medical.

I've been shopping medmen for three years now and have always found them to be a great experience to visit and they stock top shelf products (and lesser if that is what you seek).

It is not Colorado prices, but they are a great outfit.

I am a cali medical holder, but unfortunately will not be in town when the new year rolls in... Likely wont back in Cali until mid 2018.

Fortunately though, Colorado is keeping me in good spirits!

Went shopping at few dispensaries in OC area. From the Earth already started prepackaging their herbs, no touching but still can look and smell. They said only difference between rec and medical will be the tax charged.

I just checked the online newspapers of places like San Diego and Palm Springs. It is nearing the end of the day and I didn't see any issues mentioned of people running mad in the streets, nor of people handing out joints to elementary kids, or reports of car pile-ups on the highways. California didn't even start sliding into the ocean yet.

There's a new dispensary that has just opened up in CA. On Weedmaps, it says it is a part of the legal medical marijuana under the city's statutes and the details list the requirement of needing an original recommendation and state ID.

However, in the review section, some were complaining about pricing. When you look at the prices listed, they seem about market-rate for legal medical. The complaints had to do with taxation on top of the listed prices. One said he paid an $8 tax on top of $50 worth of "everything" while another had to pay $30 tax on top of $50 worth of "weed".

The response to the later complaint from the shop was:

"This is what happens when people are so eager to get recreational marijuana and don't care about anything else in the law. 2018 will bring a 30% tax increase in pricing thanks to state and local laws. BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU ASK FOR....... YOU JUST MIGHT GET IT!!!!!"​

The problem is, the review and response by the owner seems to indicate recreational taxation is going to be the standard for everyone; even in a legal medical shop. The law would exempt the 15% excise tax (And, I assume any local tax on top.) for medical marijuana user WHO HAS THE STATE IDENTIFICATION CARD. A recommendation is not enough. Also, you need to ask about prices and if the tax is included or not. Especially when the purported tax is not to be implemented until 2018, even places you are used to may be in a bit of a flux until recreational rules become clear.

Like the current systems or not, it is a huge step forward from where we were in the 90's with regards to MJ policy

It rubbed me the wrong way too. In this age, I'll bet the green juggernaut is going to run right over people in the industry who treat customers like that. It might have worked when the risk they were taking was so great to make the attitude acceptable. Now, they have to compete for the user's business rather than the users trying to find a seller. The balance of power has changed a bit as we are no longer buying the risk from the supply chain when we buy weed, but buying permission from the government through taxes.

We shall see which works out better for the consumer, paying for risk or paying for permission.

I've gone back to delivery services, as the ones I use seem to be eating the taxes, so their prices are unchanged.

It might be any of a number of things you shouldn't worry about. I bought a coffee maker for the office a couple of days ago. In the "installation" (plugging in) instructions, they referenced another envelope in the box for installations in California. There, was a warning sticker about BPA like the one you saw that was supposed to be affixed.

It's just a matter of time before the pot shops get sued for non-disclosure. Anything remotely carcinogenic will be labeled. The fight over cannabis on that issue will be wonderful indeed.

I confirmed from a source there, that the warnings is due to PGRs in the product. I guess many places around California have posted warnings about carcinogens present.
