Recovering dabber getting into vaping

Hi all, I am a new member here, I found this site thru Vaporents. a little background, I smoked joints for probably 5 years before dabs started being popular. A few years ago I got a dab rig and I've just been dabbing. Well recently I realized I started dabbing because it was so much cheaper, but now I dab so much that I'm spending at least as much as I did when I was smoking a few joints every day.

I'm not sure if I want to go portable or desktop. I may buy a few used vapes and see how I like them out depending on what people think maybe I should check out. I've been lurking here for a couple days reading product threads but after a few days of reading them all, it just seems like they're all really good!

My only goals are that it's pretty much "ready to go" at any time, I'm spoiled with being able to heat up an e-nail and do a big dab.

I am gainfully employed and have no wives or children to allocate my spending to, so I am pretty much open to whatever's out there, as long as the price of admission isn't too high...

Cheers all!

Herbalizer lol

I was kind of wary of anything that uses whips because I feel like it'll end up tasting weird over time. In the past my friends have had whip vapes but we always stopped because the whip would start tasting nasty. I'm more of a bong guy and even though I didn't read much of the Herbalizer thread, is it good for hooking up to a rig? I'd like to keep using my dab rigs to vape thru.

But I like it!
Zion. Instant on log vape. But not quite shipping. I have no13, and feel quite lucky to have one...

A Solo, Enano or EVO or buy all three. Check out those three threads.

Solo - portability - the work horse of portables
Enano - flavor and uses little product to get you there - it's a log vaporizer
EVO - power hitter and you can use a nail with it for concentrates or use flowers - it's the most expensive.

All three have an all glass air path.

Jack of all trades, master of none.
Underdog. You can run it 24/7 and will help conserve herb. Also, the Herbalizer can be hooked to water rather easily and effectively. See below.

I've never had an issue with whip vapes. I'm using the same whip on my Vapir rise 2.0. By the way it's an excellent vape. Does both bags and whip. Sure a whip looks gross and you can't make it look brand new. But never had an issue with taste after boiling the whip.

Do you just boil it with plain water and that's it? I will have to try this as i have some whip vapes around still i have not been using.

Is there any difference between the underdog and nano? Seems like they're more or less the same but the nano has temperature dial built in?

I'm not sure if the zion is for me but it looks cool. However a solo looks like it is a safe bet. I may consider that and see if i need a desktop unit too.

Really portability doesn't matter as much as quick & instant vaporization. An "on demand" vape sounds nice which is why the underdog and nano seem interesting. The Evo looks nice but it's a lot more expensive than the rest.

Edit: I wanted to make it more clear that because I am used to doing huge dabs, my tolerance is probably pretty high, so any vapes that take a little while to "get going" or don't offer much vapor quantity, i'm probably not as interested in.

the Persei with the Herc sr74x is an instant on concentrate monster

I haven't even consider vaping concentrates! I thought I would be switching back to flowers to move to vaping but I can't say I have any objection to vaping concentrates :)

Is there a desktop thing that's similar if I don't care about portability? I'd rather not mess with batteries if I don't have to.

you can try the VXL Cloud EVO with the VapeXNail concentrate attachment. That way you can vape flowers and concentrates. Or you can set up the SSV or LSV for concentrates pretty easily

@DrNick420 how much concentrate are you using on a daily basis (what's your tolerence level)? What are the whip (or other) vapes you own/have tried and how do you feel about them? This information will help us to make a more appropriate recommendation.

Or you can set up the SSV or LSV for concentrates pretty easily

I can confirm that the SSV w/ DDave mod is a BEAST at vaping concentrates.

I have a Da Buddha. I would like it except no matter how much I clean the wand, screen or whip I feel like part of the taste is still there from before and I can't get rid of it. I used to enjoy doing a wand or 2 in a row with it. I would like it more if the whip and wand didn't "remember" old tastes.

I i use about 0.3-0.5g a day of concenatrates.

I'm less concerned with whether or not I'm still using concentrates as how quickly I go through them, I think. So I would be happy with a vape that can't do concentrates if it's efficient and doesn't have parts that absorb flavors etc.

it might be time to buy a new whip. the glass pieces don't "absorb" flavors.

When I use concentrates too much I find that my tolerance goes up. I use concentrates but not every day. The Cloud EVO works well for concentrates or flowers. Look under Vapexhale's website. There should be some good sales too. You can get an extra 10% off, visit @stickstones

Sometimes the glass pieces have some nooks & crannies I can't get even with isopropyl, pbw or q tips. I think those spots are what's causing some of the stuff to not get washed away.

Honestly I would get a DDave mod for your DaBuddah before spending the big bucks on a new vape. IMO it is a huge improvement over the standard setup of the DBV/SSV and also offers much greater versatility in regards to dosage and session length (an extended session is no longer necessary). Oh, and it comes with a new whip as well. :2c:

I will give this some consideration before going for a whole new vape. Still wary of whips, but I may give it a shot.

Maybe someone with both the evo and a ddave modded vape could chime in with the differences? Because the way I see it (with lots of lurking experience), pluggin powerful vapes are simply expensives. There is the sublimator in the big one hitter to consider too.

To be honest as a relative newbie to all this stuff this is how it's looking for me. I will probably try a ddave mod but the concept of whips is still not all that appealing....

Evo could be cool I guess. It's a lot of $ but it looks like it's aimed at what I want to do. Looks like it can only be right side up with the vape nails though so that's a no go...

My suggestion would be the Herbalizer. It's rock steady for me and hasn't skipped a beat for two years solid. Heat up time is as close to instant as it gets.

Other than the herbie, if the Sublimator can hook up to the op's glass it might be a really good choice too.

Is there a desktop thing that's similar if I don't care about portability? I'd rather not mess with batteries if I don't have to.

W9/UP Tech, the makers of the Persei+Hercules combo, make a pass-thru adapter for the Persei called "The Core". It works great, never need to deal with batteries with that option engaged.

However, if you are looking to lower both consumption and tolerance and are averse to whips, a SOLO is pretty hard to beat. I would probably recommend one of those or something similar.

Sorry, but I have to disgress with the core and w9 in general. Many cores have a connection problem, and w9 doesnt care to sell them anyways like they did with their previous wrongly built perseis (my v3 persei cant fire the hercules sr-71 on full batteries and I was told its the protection circuit; with the option to pay for the v4 that is supposed to have all that fixed :disgust:). My core needs to be bent to the right side to give power. Feels really cheap for a 100$ power supply. My opignon is w9 is greedy and lack responsibility. They do not deserve our vaping dollars. They are still the only internet buisness I dealt with that added shipping and handling fees to the already highly marked up items. Even on returns if I had chose to exchange my persei, while paying both way shipping..

Their hercules cartridges paired with an eleaf stick is amazing and reliable though.

I feel you for the silicon. I much prefer the glass feel on my lips. And dirty glass stems dont stink compared to silicon. I can get away with maintenance for quite a while with my solo.

It seems like the Solo and the Herbalizer are the two popular choices. I might try to find a used deal on both. I don't want to ask too many questions about the vapes themselves as i'm sure those sort of questions belong in the product threads, but I want to thank everyone who took the time to post in this thread and help me out, I really do appreciate it. Vape on bros

BTW I broke the Da Buddha back out and I boiled the whip but it still tastes a little off so if the DDave kit doesn't fix everything for me then I will consider a new vape I think.

Up to you, but 10 feet of new tubing is cheaper than a new vape
