Recommendations for a cheap (but usable) butane vaporizer? :)

I am going to be traveling in the jungles of West Africa for around 2 months! So I need to get a butane vaporizer.

To be honest, I hate butane vaporizers (personal preference, hate the smell) but I will have no electricity so I have no choice. Any suggestions for what I should get? I have a ton of other vapes, so I will likely just give the vape away afterwards, so I want to spend as little $ as possible (but still have it work of course!).

I don't care about clouds or anything at all. It is for personal use only, not groups.

Criteria:
1. Butane
2. Discreetness (not quite sure on West African ganja acceptance)
3. Cheap (will likely give it away)

I vote on a VG, it would be the least expensive but still will provide great convection vapor. I can pull nice vapor from the coil but the Bronze or wooden models are more convenient as you can see the flame position.

The Hammer I personally love and would recommend you spend the extra bucks for as its wonderful and a bit more discreet than the VG (no open flame). Plane friendly as you can entirely clean it and herb doesn't contaminate it anyway

But if you're planning on giving it away make just snag a 39 dollar coil, can also be entirely cleaned but would be more reasonable to give away.

The Vapman would also be fairly stealthy depending on usage, but you can get a Hammer for 83 dollars from VaporSeller

Hammer will cost too much butane... Lotus and vapman.. will take less.. but still need much more than i would carry for two months in the jungle.. lol.. Lithe is your best option IMO .. works with normal bic lighter and can vape numerous bowls with torch on a single loading .. instant vapor.. otherwise Vapobowl metal one costs 7.50 with a bamboo bong or smth like this .. Vaporgenie models are fine too the coil and the classic but i don't like the ceramic filters.. they are giving me strange taste..

If you somehow manage to get a lithe and are giving it away I'll buy it from you, the manufacturer stopped making them and they are one of my favorites.

But the lithe goes through way more butane than my Hammer, same for the VG.

The lithe does use up a bic pretty quickly but you can use hemp wick with it, I like that better then a torch.

A lithe vape or glass vaporgenie bat with a few yards of hemp wick and mini bic could last months

I'm a cheap bastard, if I will only use it shortly and give it away, I would get a gn0me or Vaporgenie. Probably lean towards VG because it looks like a pipe and more discreet and acceptable than exposed bud in glass.

I have been in the jungle for two months last year and had the VG and MFLB with me. I hated the butane taste of the VG and battery charging of the box... If I was there again I would sure get my Lotus with me. A can of butane would be more than enough! Vapman is weaker and Hammer also has some butane smell from what I have read... Get a Lotus and enjoy the wilderness mate!

Only if I set the dial too far to the right, the flame will start but blowout with butane. Same goes for the Hammer if you tune it too far right.

Never have I had a whiff of butane while the lighter's flame was going, but I can't say the same for the Hammer. Since then I have modified my technique to never inhale while powering.

I rarely smell any butane when using the Lotus... Maybe only when i keep the pipe very low and the lighter is under my nose...

I get no butane smell with lotus and IMO is your best bet.
Durable stem, priced ender $100, killer hits, no butane smell or taste, and I have found it is also the most efficient with my butane- meaning you will have to carry less butane with you, than you would if using something like a Hammer....

@RUDE BOY i dont think vapman is any weaker than the lotus at all.. It just takes a little more work with the torch.

The Hammer is very adjustable and has an inner dial, this is how my Hammer has been able to noticeably heat up faster and get vapor in 8 seconds rather than 20. I rarely smell any butane when using the Hammer but its not like the vape is anywhere near my face when heating initially, the vape I smell butane the most with is the Lithe, it can really get foul.

I've personally had issues trying to vape with a torch when fighting against the wind, but I am assuming Africa to have less wind than what I am dealing with in the Midwest.

But I also think you should probably go with the Lotus because I wouldn't want to chance breaking a stem over there and not even having a vape. And I wouldn't want to deal with the loading process of the vapman when I can just do straw method with the Lotus.

Unfortunately the Lotus isn't discreet at all and the Vapman would when in that category, same with the Hammer but I understand not wanting to spend extra money on silicone that may not fit and wooden/rock stems. But nothing is very discreet when you're putting things to your mouth and exhaling fumes.

Oh, if i were to go there i'd sure want my pipe with me. But not any VG pipe, no... I mean i wouldn't go with anything else but MY modded VG pipe and the bad news is you can't have it - but i can tell you how i implemented mine though...

I had no idea that the vapor genie cool was an actual vape...I'd seen it before but I ignorantly thought it was just part of a vape. My mind is blown.

No problem though there's no secret really, as i even tried to share all details in picture right from the begining actually:

In retrospective i'd say my VG modding is about 2 items:

• Extension tubing
• "Defocussed" core

Butane "taste" issues were practically solved by providing eye-contact on my flame, because soot is generated if/when it touches anything and hence this helps a great deal with it. Additionally, i've noticed the tube also results in more pleasant aroma/taste than a genuine short Classic path while on occasions the later made me wonder if i was tasting CO2 or even some petroleum-based contaminants - in any case it vanishes instantly once my tubing is installed somehow...

The "defocussed" thing was because my cannabic loads used to roast quick in the bowl, as if they were under a heat lense, so i thought lets experiment with some obstruction of radiative heat and it effectively delayed combustion long enough to enjoy the VG pipe.

Like others, Lotus would be a nice bet for the jungle if you take a few lighters. Vaponic could be another bet especially for discretion but not for longevity (cleaning, broken glass).
