Reclaim Catchers?

Hi FC Community,

I have been looking around and couldn't find a straight up answer so I would like to ask everyone.

What are your thoughts on a using a reclaim catcher with an e-nail and a glass piece?

Here is a example of a reclaim catcher I am talking about:

I have this exact reclaim catcher and it's pretty well coated but has yet to drip into the cup. It's not perfect but it works.
Someday I'll get in touch with @VaPeD&CoNfUsEd and order the "The World's Greatest Dropdown" :rockon:
If I remember correctly this piece was an original concept from FC's very own @PoopMachine and then "refined" by Joda Glassworks to be, IMHO, "The World's Greatest Dropdown".

Sadly I broke it about 7 months ago. It did work well tho. Reclaim did drop into the cup and the stuff in the tube, hitting it with a torch would cause whatever was in the tube to roll down into the container. I would have gotten another one made but I switched to a Liger and dont use a dropdown any more. Its a great piece tho and Joda is awesome.

Thanks for the pics + info!

I may also get a custom one made in the future. Just want to make sure I invest in a reclaimer thatll be good for daily use and is as efficient as possible.

Wow that sucks, howd you break that? if you dont mind me asking.

Looking at the picture Vapehunter had sent it seems like the tube holding the collecting jar + joint for nail seems quite long (well to me).

Would there be any difference in performance if the tube was like 1 - 2 inches shorter? It seems like itll be easier to break since its longer (correct me if I am wrong).

I am also planning on purchasing the 20mm liger! You said you dont use the reclaimer anymore. Is this because the liger doesnt really drip any reclaim? If so do you think it is worth while to invest in a reclaimer if you are pirchasing the liger?

Sorry for asking so many questions! I have been on the fence trying to figure out if I should purchase both

I was fumbling around in the dark where I keep my glass and it somehow got yanked off the rig on to the floor.

Shortening it up some might help. What he sent me wasnt exactly my design and I think my original design would have worked better but I think at the time that was where he was at skill level wise. Now he could make it easy.

The Liger does make reclaim but not a ton. I figured out a better way to get reclaim. Heat up some Everclear, dump it through the piece, run it through my Source and you get a glob of reclaim back and the Everclear for re-use.

I use basic drop downs as reclaim catchers. I find that what little claim my Liger produces is caught in the drop and a little heat and it runs right out into a container to be used in my edibles with no ISO required!

Thank you so much for both of your tips!

I am a bit lazy and like to keep things as simple as possible so I think I will stick with heating a down stem and letting the reclaim drip out :p

Also, I just came across this Downstem/reclaim catcher that is really similar to Poopmachines custom made one. Any thoughts on these?

I'm trying to find a adapter for a couple of beaker rigs that I have (14mm female joint) like this one. I want to use a Quartz Enail but would like it to be straight (90deg). I ordered a couple from DHgate (hymanquartz01) but it takes forever to recieve. Does anyone know a local distributor who sells these reclaim style adapters? Thanx

I've never seen a retail reclaim catcher that actually collected all or even the bulk of the claim in the jar section. IME, they still get gunked up in other parts of the path that is unable to be scooped out.

That one probably wont work all that great. The one Joda made for me worked pretty well because gravity was assisting. When gravity didnt get it done, a small burst from the torch would cause all the reclaim to run right into the cup.

I hate I broke that thing. I need to get him to make me another one.
