Reccomendations for my first vaporizer

I hate to admit, I have never owned or tried any desktop vapes except a whip and hose box vape, that currently lives in the recesses of my closet (we had some good times, combusted alot, got higher than I thought I could but we grew apart...not to mention it was SUPER GREEDY!)

AND a volcano liked it enough and could have purchased it...but at the time paying nearly 300 for a vape seemed out of the question (fuck you mighty!)

I would like to get a desktop or borrow one from a future-friend the universe will send my way...eventually.

But i agree with you better to prepaid for use on the go...the OP is a student afterall!

No, unfortunetaly I can't openly vape at home. No one in the house knows anything about what I do in my spare time. That's the main reason I was really looking at the flowermate since it looks nothing like what it is. If anything people in the house would look at it if it was on my desk and think it was an external HDD. I've been having to use a air purifier and lots of candles since the beginning and its honestly such a hassle to set up and tear down for a session. I'm getting a vape for 2 reasons: 1 to save me money and 2 to be as inconspiquous as possible.

I hate to burst your bubble, but if you think the Flowermate won't smell like weed when not in use...Your fucking tripping.

I wouldn't leave my vape anywhere... if I were you.

Whenever I hear your dilemma, I automatically think: high shool student.

Bias-aside...you better get a smell proof case for whatever vape you have.

The only way the vape won't smell is if your flowers don't have any smell...aka bunk weed...or prepped weed.

Generally if your flowers are smelly, the smell WILL intensify when exposed to heat.

Are you planning on vaping inside? Ifso..I would go back to the drawing table.

Sorry to fixate on the underdog but I see people suggesting vapes that are $150 when for $10 more you can get an underdog while the sale is on. Because they are only sold by the underdog folk many people have not tried one. It has 0 learning curve unlike some of the ones suggested like the vapman and almost no problems.
It is also the stealthiest vape I own. Have you looked at them? They are small attractive pieces of wood. They come with a copper cup for essential oils. It would be very simple to let your family know that this is an aromatherapy device- because it is. After you vape you can put some scented oil in the copper cup and your family will be left with the scent of orange or peppermint. And the underdog folk are here should you have any problems.
Otherwise get the FM and vape outside.

@little maggie that does sound really good. And correct me if I'm wrong, when your ready to vape you load the stem and insert it? That way if you ever had to cut a session short...you can pull the stem and place in a smell proof tube. The aroma therapy dish seems ideal too.

Alot of folks diffuse essential oils now.

Take a peek at a vapcap and a smokebuddy.
Under 50 and you can get a passable vape set up.

Make sure you save that avb. Makes some decent edibles and will help for times where vaping isn't an option.

Exactly. And some people leave theirs on 24/7 so there is no wait time for warming up. You can just add the copper cup or a loaded stem whenever you want. But the $160 is a holiday sale and after that the price will be over $200.

You'd do a LOT better off saving up for something better. The FM is an OK vape at best and isn't exactly what I'd consider efficient. Its electronics are also not sealed from the air/vapor path.

That solo for $100 in classifieds would be an infinitely better choice. I've owned both the FM and the solo and the solo has easily paid for itself in consumption costs alone.. Let alone it absolutely destroys the FM in terms of tastiness. FM5 is also the stinkiest vape I've owned.

This has got to be confusing with so much info. So here's my summary: UD if you can afford it
Used solo from classified

ebay store has it for $115 but I'm a bit wary about ebay products.
The first site has the fm for $73 and mini for $93.
It's true that the fm is not the best vaporizer but it's not the worse and is good enough for a first vaporizer given the price. I just bought a mini as a backup. I suspect that most of us started with an inexpensive first vaporizer like the MFLB and the flowermate has been around for several years and they have been making improvements. Don't let comments about it not being as good as more expensive vapes stop you from getting it at a good price.

I think a pretty fair comparison for the OP would be to look at the following vapes

FM V5.0s $85ish (inc a grinder & replacement stem)
  • Small, discreet, can sell as a powerbank to the curious
  • Very fast heat up time
  • Only 3 temps (195, 205, 215c)
  • Can be smelly
  • No passthrough charging
Solo $135+ (50% price premium on FM)
  • Powerful performance even through water
  • All glass airpath & is extremely common for replacement parts
  • 6 usable temps (185-210c)
  • Larger than FM & less discreet
  • $100 barely used one available on FC
Once you start getting above $150USD that opens up a whole new :worms:

Great choice mate, what colour did yo get? You only have 1350 pages of posts to play catch up with :). Go back about 25 pages in the Solo thread & start reading up on all the tips, tricks & techniques to get the most out of your new toy. If you got the $135 one then hopefully you get a free grinder with it as you already get 2 stems in the package.

All you need now is a jar for bud, a jar for ABV & a container for your pre ground buds. You should get change from a $5 in a $0.99 store. Hell you may even find a nice little storage case/bag for you vaping equipment there.

I don't know anything about your seller. But if you can find out if they are an "Authorized" Seller of Arizer, then that can help you if you need to RMA, worst case.
Arizer wants buyers to send their return to the original seller for RMA-ing. Otherwise check out the Arizer solo thread. :peace:

Went with black. I've been looking at the solo thread a bit just to see what I needed to know. I've also got some tightvac containers from amazon coming in. Pretty excited to enter the new world.

Looks like you are well equipped @General_Led. Essentially you now only need the consumables to replace periodically & if you are careful never since screens last forever & you don't even have to use them.

Since you are a student a sturdy Ed's TNT would be a good investment when you get a few spare $$ as a combination of unbreakable stem that is also a 14mm male joint will serve you for the life of the vape.

How long will an Arizer Solo live for? 2-4 years?

Solo is a decent vape. I didn't like the air though due to draw resistance. But glad you solved your delimma. Hope you enjoy it.
