@virtualpurple thank you for the kind words and support!
Since receiving my Tubo Evic a few months back, I've only once used the stainless steel screened OEM setup. I've just been kramming unground budlets into TopHats and vaping through the 420EDC stems. With the regulation and temperature control, I'm just loving the extraction through the TopHat unground.
A few months back when visiting RBT, I did give a medium 420EDC stem & TopHat a go with a Zion that was under evaluation from an RMA. I was stoked at how well the extraction worked out in just that one session. Looking forward to Zion arriving in the next few days/weeks.
My advice for anyone using the TopHats is to just go unground to prevent anything from pulling through. Even with unground budlets, it is a good idea to just take a trial/test drag on the load initially in case there is any small particles of flower that pull through prior to deployment, take a mouth pull on it, not a lung pull.
The TopHat doesn't need to lift off of the heater screen in order to work, just pull as you normally would and be careful with the TopHat when you are finished the session, as they are hot, real hot. I normally just invert the stem with TopHat in it and then place the TopHat on something metal until it cools off enough to handle by hand. Use a thin toothpick or metal poker to push the spent budlet out into your ABV storage or trash.
