Wtf?

I laughed around 10 yrs. ago when Cadillac started using Zeppelin songs to advertise. Counter culture gone mainstream. Geez. I was old for sure. The worm had turned and all that.

But Akron/Family? I thought I was the only one who ever heard them and now they're selling michelin tires.

There must be a black whole sucking on my head.

"I’m getting really tired of everyone playing to the lowest impulses in our society.

Today the Brexit won. It was clearly about the same fears in Britain that Trump and McCain are playing to in the US.

It will cost Britain and the world a great deal as the markets plummet to compensate for their withdrawal and may even send the US into recession along with them.
Why? Fear of foreigners is the biggest impetus, followed closely by a decade of the working classes being shafted by the financial system and its penchant for cheap labor abroad.

The sad thing is that while Britain may now limit foreigners a little more easily, it will surely make it much for difficult for working people to get work—because that’s what economic collapses do: they hit the bottom rung of the economic ladder first.

So here’s to the reich wing, Trump, McCain, Adolf Hitler and every other TWAT that thinks it’s fun to run on people’s lowest prejudices. While their followers light the torches to run up the hill with their pitchforks, sure that Dr. Frankenstein is one of those small, brown-skinned people who is taking their jobs, they blind themselves with the flames, thereby missing the sight of the town’s financiers who quickly rush from house to house in the village, pillaging their savings and everything else they’ve ever struggled to earn.

Hear that? It’s not the howl of a frightened monster running through the moonlit landscape, trying to escape from the mob of frothing idiots chasing him; it’s the mob stumbling all over itself, trampling its own members with jack-boot heels while its torches set its ragged clothing aflame. Not even all the saliva from that many frothing mouths is enough to extinguish the burning anguish.

"Oh, the humanity!" (Somebody please cue the Zeppelin)."

The other day I got a call from what I thought was a cell phone. It ended up being United Breast Cancer Organization. I've donated in the past. My mom had breast cancer when she was 50 and lived to be 91. So I'm all for donating to a few worthy causes. I pick and choose frugally.

The person on the phone said, hi you are sure hard to get a hold of. I though maybe an old friend was calling. I've been selective who I answer the land line phone to lately because of the election or telemarketing. Then she started talking about screenIng for breast cancer and would I like to support breast cancer again. I said yes I could donate a small amount.

Immediately someone else got on the line and wanted my credit card number. I said, how do I know this isn't a scam. No I won't be donating. Not interested, then hung up.

We have caller ID and we keep getting calls from now it says Breast Cancer Org. I'm not answering my phone and they keep calling, like 5 times a day for the last three days. Now the last few times I answer then hang up. If I knew how to program my phone to not accept calls I would. I'm going to have to make a statement and hang up. I didn't want it to come to that. What a hassle. How much money is breast cancer org paying for this person to solicit money and harass me? I like to be a nice person.
I needed to vent. Thanks, I feel better.

Carol that is horrible. Damn aggressive of them. I know that there is a phoney organization called "Breast Cancer Society". You were smart to hang up. I always make the first move on donations by being the "aggressor" and initiating the phone call to the organization I choose to give my $$'s to.

You never know who is on the other end of a unsolicited call. Unless your number is known to me I don't answer. If its important the person will leave a message. Its 'Guilty Until Proven Innocent'. Survival of the fittest. If I do decide your call is worth following up.......I'll call you back AFTER I verify your number and I'll be using the service that blocks my number from being displayed when I call. My phone blew up after I entered my phone on the ACA site. Constant calls about health insurance and every time I said I've already gotten insurance please stop calling.....the frequency continued.

I can't count the numbers I've blocked. I called a number back and the person I called didn't pick up and their voice mail said 'Please stop calling this number if you do not know me. It is being used in a telemarketing scam.'.

So in case any scammers are reading this post.....
- I don't have a computer virus and you are not from Microsoft.
- I don't want that free, whatever the fuck it is, that you need my social or credit card number for so you can send me the free shit.
- I don't care that you're calling from the FBI or IRS and I owe you money. Come at me Bro!
- If you're name is Fred how come I can't understand a word you're saying.

The sound of vapor
Sounds like a nice opportunity to waste scammers time (doing a good deed as that'd be less time for them to scam others), just sit down with a drink or a vape or both and let them go at it, then ask the dumbest simplest questions, and make sure to have them explain everything 5 times, if you make them hang up then you win! ;)

As for legit calls when they bother me a simple polite "No (thanks), I'm not interested, have a good day." works fine. Granted if they harass you then blocking the number has to be done. That said I've vented frustration a couple of times during calls I've received from companies that had done me wrong or were taking the piss (i.e.: "we're having our customers best at heart... by the way we're increasing our fees and you'll get less for it, we hope you'll keep on trusting us for business..."), not always the most constructive and the person behind the phone is just a pawn but as long as I remain polite and express my point of view I believe it's acceptable feedback.

"Drumpf voters don’t believe in Drumpf himself; they believe in the magic Drumpf leprechaun that his word-constructs have created-as if a cereal box had created his candidacy in their six-year-old minds with the words “Magically Delicious!”

People are attached to ideas like:

He’s a billionaire-so somehow is magical. Gold is good and beautiful, so a lot of gold is really, really beautiful and should be smeared all over everything and that’s what he does, so that’s good.

He’s a business man-and so can run things the way they imagine businesses are run (which is nothing like what they imagine) which is more efficient than anything in the whole world ever. Multiple bankruptcies are just fine.

He says he’s a big shot-and he wouldn’t be able to brag if it weren’t true. You’re not allowed to lie in a presidential campaign.

He’s a stud-and we know that because he has a beautiful wife. He also has a beautiful daughter who he would like to date.

These are people who believe what advertisers say. When they hear an advertising claim, they think it’s science. When they read a cereal box, they wonder at the end of the rainbow.

When they speak with a person of color, they assume that person will adhere to whatever behavior that person’s race is supposed to endow them with-like laziness, theft, shiftlessness. They will tell you that because a person is Asian, they are good at math and because they are Asian, they can’t drive a car very well.

Some Drumpf voters are more stupid than others, but, yes, their hallmark is that they simply can’t think clearly.
They rely on myths instead of facts and they don’t when their buttons are being pushed.

Drumpf keeps pushing a button that says “Me Alpha Dog” and they obediently bark."

I just randomly thought of a cousin of mine I have met only once (at my grandma's funeral.) He has Downs Syndrome & when his mom told him I work in radio I suddenly became the closest thing in his world to Michael Jackson.

He really liked Michael Jackson.

As I was one of the closest family still alive I was tabbed with being one of those who had to welcome family & basically herd them. His mother spent the day trying to keep him from spending every second from talking to me about Michael Jackson (not that I minded, but she has been doing this a while & it obviously had become instinctual.

I really enjoyed the positive energy he brought to an event that wasn't fun.

I know MJ's death must have shattered him. :(
