Putin is a War Criminal
I've been wondering if trumps choosing these people for these gigs was his way of trying to punish us all for being so mean to him. How dare we impeach him, et cetera, et cetera? And then it came to me. Trump wouldn't be smart enough to choose these people because they are the ideal choices to destroy the departments they run, and trump just isn't that smart. These are actually Putin's choices, and sadly he is that smart.

The city people are calling, "The Birthplace of Popes"
Uh, that's 'Da Pope', buddy. (just like 'Da Bears', for you non-US people on this thread). Yes, that's a thing, and no, I didn't make it up.

Every day since his ascension, the local news leads off with some new 'story' or other about him. It's Popemania, over here. Local reporters have been stationed in Vatican City, covering things out there. Today, I wondered if they would all set up permanent stations out there for the next 25yrs or so.

Rumor has it when the Vatican staff showed him the Popemobile, he got in, sat down, and said, "Hey, this is sharp!" :D

Seriously, though, Chicago is a pretty Catholic city, given its immigrant influx in the earlier part of last century. When I grew up in Chicago, and you would ask where someone else in the city lives, the response would be based not on neighborhood name, but of the parish name. "Oh, you live near St. Whozit's... oh, yeah, I know that area!" Now, it's more 'neighborhood' name, but the oldsters like me remember.

Big education presence, as well -- elementary schools in many / most of the parishes, to stay on the local level. Many have closed or been consolidated, with Chicago losing population, etc. Fun fact: My family wasn't Catholic, yet I went to Catholic schools from 7th-12th grades. I'll spare details. But they did their bit to provide me with a good education, IMHO.

Fucking Combustion (mostly) Since February 2017
Just a random thought that's been on my mind for the last week or two...I'm so sick of hearing about this new pope :myday:

So, they anointed a new king of the kid-diddlers, did they! Yay?!?
I feel like if the news is anything short of putting the pope and his underlings in prison, and then dissolving that criminal organization he runs, then It's just more bullshit. So much bullshit :puke:

To make as much money as Jeff Bezos working at an Amazon Fulfillment Gulag, you would have needed to start working 4.5 million years ago. You'd be an early hominid known as ardipithecus ramidus.

Try explaining to these hairy tittied monkey people that you work 60 hours per week in a sweltering warehouse to afford shelter while some bald fuck leeches off your labor so he can go to space with Katy Perry because he happened to be born to parents who could write him a $500,000 check to start the first internet bookstore when he was like 25.

While my wonderer is still engaged, I have to add that while it make sense in a perverse way that trump would let Putin pick his cabinet, I struggle to understand why the whole republican party would go along and confirm so many of them. I certainly buy that fear is a factor in this decision, but I cannot believe that so many of them are cowardly enough to subject their children to the inevitable collapse of what was the most stable nation. I am still missing some important piece of this puzzle.

Just shows how much you know, @florduh. Amazon wasn't even around back then. No internet, not internet bookstore. And I don't think ardipithecus ramidus could even read, so...
