As I said, date went well.

Girl tells her best friend who is practically married to my buddy, date went really well. Score.

Hit her back up and try to set up plans.

What an arduous process........it takes her sooooooo long to respond and get something set up  and on one hand, I can appreciate her not being attached to her phone like every other person seems to be in this day and age. Phone/social media is now basically an extension of the self today-so it's cool she's not blowing me up constantly with small talk and is only using it to finalize plans (just very slowly).

But "the phone is now basically an extension of the self today" lol, I know you got the message, it gives me predate jitters and causes me to second guess, I am cracking myself up with how much I'm overthinking - for instance, "tonight" or "this week" lol, I spent waaay to much time thinking. Which, I shouldn't worry cause content of messages and since she is actually coming over tonight shows she digs me still. But damn like the 6-8 hours it takes between "you free this week want to do xxxxx" and the response is causing me to PR everything at the gym

I recommend you stop trying to predict the ride and just enjoy it. No matter how much time you spend thinking, you're thinking in YOUR head. Girls are different from boys. If you try to figure her out for the rest of your life, you will still fail.

That's why it's so fun.

o matter how much time you spend thinking, you're thinking in YOUR head.

I remind myself of this daily, thank you :) I have a tendency to overthink alot - it's a habit I'm working on breaking. The gym has been my best friend and honestly best thing I ever did. Wasn't even super out of shape.

Cause, when you don't have a positive self image and lack confidence, it's a viscous cycle you know? You lack confidence, which lowers your self image, which in turn leads to more situations where your low self image causes you to lack confidence, and then in situations where you need confidence, you fail since you have none and in turn again lower your self image.

The gym has given me discipline, which carried over into my everyday life. I found more successes in all aspects, which in turn boosts my confidence, which boosts my self image. Having a high confidence lets you take challenges that you wouldn't have with no confidence, which in turn boosts your self image as well. Getting compliments on physique and knowing people desire you is intoxicating tbh  and gives you more confidence and positive self image.

As to confidence @HellsWindStaff , fake it until you make it.

I know I have, as a self image, the same thoughts and feelings as I did as an adolescent. There has been a LOT of water under that bridge since then with many attempts and efforts at gaining confidence. Over time, I got better for a number of reasons. Now, I can walk into a room and own it.

Even though, in my heart, I'm still a fat, shy, ugly kid who has no clue to life.

Glad you got some sage advice from @OldNewbie. Overthinking. Yea, I have to remember to live in the moment more often and allow the spontaneity of the moment exist without that self awareness/ critical filter. Looks like the gym is a healthy outlet for you plus the setting goals and meeting them with willpower. My mountain bike does that with adventure and vistas to explore.

It is cyclical or perhaps a spiral. IF I find the source, I'll share it here. But essentially,by programming your brain to think with positivism for 29 days. Then you can become 'positive'. So many ways to weigh the exact same circumstance at the moment it occurs. O.K now I'm starting to overthink or babble.
Not at all related to your date. Just a broad generalization unto itself.... How to detect overthinking and obsessing over problems. Then later the self deflation and defeatism. :worms:
I do try to discern what exactly is a 'proper' amount to think through a problem/be concerned and put it down. Sometimes that alone makes me laugh. That's right it gets a timetable.

Setting goals and meeting them with your willpower can do that. :) I've had my own turn around and have stopped stinkin' thinkin' from surfacing for very long. :peace:

I can get obsessive about things. I must be insane, as I just spent several hundred dollars to buy some laserdiscs & a laserdisc player because I have wondered if the meh quality on some bootleg dvd-r's i got off ebay 15 years ago was due to the bootlegs, or what was supposed to be excellent quality. So I bought all this to see if it's better quality & to end this curiosity. If they are better I'll record everything to my own dvd-r's. Regardless, I will be reselling everything & hopefully not lose too much money! LOL

So there's this kid directing other kids at pre school to hold a baby doll by both ends and I watch him take a saw out and start using the saw on the baby.

I calmly ask the kid why he's cutting the baby with a saw and his response is classic. I'm not making this up. He throws his hands up in frustration and says "It's not even a real baby. It's make believe. I'm pretending to be a doctor and we don't have the right toys, so I'm using what I have."

I wanted to bust out laughing but I nodded my head in agreement and said "Right on. I can see it now."

You FC members in Florida or in the hurricanes path take care. Hopefully everyone has gone where it is safe. Don't be brave and stay if you were told to evacuate. It sounds like it's going to be a monster.

I was watching this dad with his 4 year old on the news. They lived in Key West and he's not evacuating. They also have a 1 year old at home with mom. It's one thing risking your life but these parents are risking the lives of their children. The newsman that was interviewing the man said that he would give him addresses of safe storm shelters in case they change their mind.

Enjoyed all the sharing. Good stuff.

The gym has been my best friend

:2c: That's the ticket. Not always easy, but the more we do stuff we like (I mean 'real like' - the kind that makes us feel connected to life, not the 'pretend like' stuff that we do sometimes because others do it and we think we therefore should), the more peace of mind we have. We're taking advantage of life. We have a better more meaningful relationship with life. And that's the most important relationship. It's really all about our relationship with life. Things grow out from there.

Hoping tomorrow to take my tired old butt on a day trip down to a place where I most enjoy riding my mtb. I could go any number of places locally. But I'm yearning for that special place, and tomorrow I'm going for it. I feel especially connected to life when I ride there so I'll spend more hours and gas than I should to do it.

Ok enough randomness.

If you live anywhere near the forest fires that are decimating the Northwest or in California, please be aware that the animals are fleeing the fires and they may show up in your yards. The forestry department is urging you to bring your own pets and animals in at night, and let the wild ones pass through. Please put out buckets of water for them. They are desperately thirsty and dehydrated. They are also scared, exhausted & have lost their homes. They need to refuel. Please show love and kindness. (not original. copied & shared.)

Yeah, this one looks like it'll pack a whallop on Florida. Stay safe everyone. I already checked in with @stickstones and he assures me that he's stocked up for this. He told me "I've got 12 charged batts, a fully barged portside, five cans of butane and half a bottle of water." So he seems set.

I can't get this song out of my head today....

Just got back from Vegas. So many Florida flights cancelled. Got two flight cancellations because they were starting off in south Florida before I was to get on them in Charlotte to get back to north Florida. I was so pissed when the second one got cancelled but it actually was a good thing. Each of the flights that got cancelled were leaving Charlotte before 9am to go to Florida. The final and third flight change had me leaving Charlotte 4 hours later than the first two which meant a f'n 6 hour lay over in Charlotte. Then the starting Vegas flight got delayed by three hours so I would have missed the first two cancelled flights anyway. The best thing that happened to us was those two cancelled flights. Go figure.

I've spent the entire day preparing for Irma since getting home today....making ice, storing water, picking up some food supplies, recharging all my portable battery packs and moving everything inside that could become a projectile, etc. While doing all the above I had all my vape batteries and battery vapes charging in case the power goes out. In the meantime I'm using my desktop vapes. I think I can get by 3 days without power before running out of vape alternatives.

You gotta keep your priorities straight so you don't have to be. :D

About vape you should reconsider butane imo
I could stay litterally months off the grid at anytime (with 6 butane refill) and having differents vapor signatures too

I need to convert a rural, seasonal indoor/outdoor cat to an urban, balcony-confined mostly indoor cat this fall/winter. It's giving me even more anxiety about moving to the big city than I already have, which is really saying something. He's a really cool, smart cat, but Idk if or how he's going to be able to handle having his freedom limited, along with the stress of moving to a new home. The cat will be the only soul I know, at least very well, in the entire city. I love the little bugger (he's actually pretty large), but need to expand my horizons and get better access to health care etc. It will be much better for me being close to the coast, climate-wise. It's just that the cat has different needs than I do, and he wants me to spend more $ in order to meet them. I tried a harness/leash setup with him, and he didn't totally hate it so that's a plus :\

Not a cat owner but from what I've read so far, having familiar toys, smells and things from the older place might help with the readjustment. Maybe it will consider the old litter box as an anchor to the old house. :D
How can get a rural cat accustomed to urban traffic? Dogs are more territorial and you can let them know where the sidewalk ends and the traffic begins. Well at least you got him to agree with the leash, so you can slowly introduce him to that.

City and Country Cats: Preparing Your Cat for a New Environment

Dogs and Cats generally like me at first glance. I've had dogs and cats that are normally considered unfriendly, climb up into my lap to the astonishment of their owners. And quiet people tend to start conversations with me.
Guess I have that kind of presence.

Chihuahuas will attempt to sit on my leg, but they shake so bad and try to get themselves comfortable. Poor things. I've walked by cats and got a 'meow' good afternoon greeting as I passed by. Adult cats generally only talk to humans btw.

Yeah, I know how you feel, @CuckFumbustion since animals like me right away usually. I have learned to not even freak out if a dog is attacking under certain circumstances. I've been attacked a few times by scared dogs. They bite, but stop before biting all the way down, then they love me like they've never lived a human before lol.
Both times I had a very slight skin abrasion, but very superficial.
Children also like me really quickly most of the time. I've had kids start interacting with me out of the blue, and even leave their parents at the grocery store to follow me. Lol
I work with kids and they treat me like a rock star. It's pretty fun. Maybe I should find a way to put animals into my job when I move to Cali in a few years.

Maybe I could be the guy who introduces kids to animals and teaches safe play with pets. I could sing songs on the guitar that I write about people and animal feelings. I could make illustrations to push the agenda, too.

I could go around to schools, daycares, anywhere there are children.
