Question about glass thickness

Hi, I'm looking for a bong which is harder to break than most bongs, and I see several different bongs which might work. But there's not much information on the thickness of the glass, or the strength of the glass on the website. I don't see bongs like this talked about on this forum very much (I joined yesterday), but I was wondering if anyone would think it's silly to get a 9mm thick bong like some website sell? Here's some examples of the kind of bubbler I have taken an interest in talked about on this forum, I assume these aren't the thickest you can get, but are any of them thicker and sturdier than any other? It's never easy to tell.

This one seems to have a lot of what I'm looking for. Reputable glass, small enough to fit on my desk, water filtration, not too complicated of a design, in my price range Goo Roo Designs 10" Disc Perc Bubbler (9301)

This one doesn't have water, but I think it would be perfect in other ways - filtration, flavor retention, thick glass 14MM GLASS J HOOK w STAND and COOLING SPIKES 16MM 11"

Then there's another goo roo piece which is good for the reasons the other one is. Large Inline Bubbler

This one looks pretty thick TAG - 9" Bent Neck Interior Showerhead 55x5MM (14MM Female)

This one looks nice HOUSE GLASS VORTEX

if you're from USA I'd suggest looking into iDB CC Glass too, you can use them also as a dry JHook as it has dimples... and thick also

They don't have a website right now because they are setting up in a new state. But you can message them on Instagram (probably here too, but I think he prefers Instagram DMs).

The one you would be interested in, called the protege, has not even been complete yet, so just keep an eye out in his thread... I would not recommend the prodigy (base isn't necessarily that thick) but prophet is amazing for dry cooling...

Depends on the vapes you're using, but inline is the best perk to work with everything basically... So I would get that over the honeycomb for sure, I have a different honeycomb that has inline below it, without having that the honeycomb does not use all of the holes in the disc, depending on the air flow of the vape you're using... The reverse shower head TAG could be good, it is smaller though, not as simple as the inline... And I wouldn't bother with that vortex perc personally.

Just because glass is thick, does not mean it's indestructible, my goo three piece is very durable, but other people have had a lot of breaks with goo, you never know...

Another really great option to look at though super thick high quality US glass, Fire Within Glass, he makes inline and shower head percs, wide variety of styles and can do custom...

I have a lot of pieces that are crazy thick glass, many Chinese, not that hard to find necessarily

I assume it makes no difference that some of them are made for concentrates? It says 14mm banger or something but I don't know what that means. I'd assume it would be compatible with the 10-14-18mm adapter for my dynavap. I like that this one has the curved tube so it aims away from my face with the hot dynavap cap sticking out, but it says it's made for dabs HIGHER STANDARDS RIG. The beakers look really nice on that website, super thick, but I don't know if I like how you have to tilt the whole thing sideways to take a hit and I don't know if my adapter would work.

Thanks for the great suggestions. By your suggestion it sounds like the inline from goo roo would be best out of the ones I posted. Fire Within Glass appears to be all sold out right now.

I ordered the large inline bubbler from goo roo with a 14mm female adapter. It has the large but not too largeness, the inline feature, the bent tube away from the heat source, 5-7mm glass, and seems very reputable.

Oh that would have been fine, it just says that because that's how they designed it and it might come with a banger for dabbing, but most dab rigs are great for vaping too and this one would have been although I'm not a fan of the style personally (nice perk though)

Yeah you can hit him up on Instagram, he sells other places to like a glass auction app where they go pretty cheap I think?

Nice! Yeah this is a pretty tried and true go to now, can't really go wrong, although it is not what I would have suggested specifically only for dynavap use, but I'm sure it will be fine (I don't like that vape anyway so probably not the best judge!)

Is there a specific bong which would work better with a dynavap?

@Green420 , most vaporists prefer the smaller pieces marketed as "dab rigs" rather than more traditional bongs. For vaping you don't need, or really want, a large volume or an elaborate perc, they tend to steal flavor. These labels are somewhat arbitrary so there is plenty of overlap in designs. My favorite piece is a little globe that is only 3 inches in diameter (Magic Flight Orbiter if you are curious), it's not heavy like you were asking about.

You might want to check out Thick Ass Glass at some point, they list the thicknesses of all their pieces, info that's hard to find from many sellers.

I can't say for sure, but I would think you would want something smaller for the DV because it is small? A lot of people use it with small rigs that I see, but I guess some people use it with larger stuff, but that seems more like Dani Anvil territory to me?

BiaoT does nice work, available from Greek Glass some designs, very thick colored glass and clear, a lot of small pieces with simple hole percs and recyclers as well, I think they would be really good with DV stuff as I see a lot of people with them together??

This is a nice little China rig, I have a 10 mm version, that I think would be very solid with DV? Check out the Biao Saki bottle too

Oh oh oh and actually this would be a great option, it is the grav upline bubbler, identical to the one they sell but a fraction of the price, suuuper thick glass, unique cooling features, simple perc, probably amazing with a DV I'd think bc of the draw restriction...

And this is a cheaper version of the larger CaliBear straight fab btw seller has some other unique pieces that could be good with DV and pretty thick glass too.

Ah and this is an amazing deal on a little TAG recycler... Oh and check out the cup style and puck bubblers

I was able to catch the order before it went out at goo roo and decided to go with the "small inline" bubbler.

Nice, yeah that probably makes more sense for the DV, if you like that sidecar style especially, @AJS has one and has done many nice videos with it, posted in the cheap glass thread and on his Instagram...

By the way, just so you know, the photo you shared, is not what it looks like. That is an extremely old photo and they never updated the site no matter how many times we've told them lol

The small inline currently comes with a base, you can see photos of it elsewhere here if you search, or on their Instagram, or look at AJS like I said

That looks pretty cool, although I'm not sure if the dynavap would be sticking out and hitting my face with how it's angled. The burning cap is always sticking out several inches from whatever you stick it in.

Yeah that's the tough thing with small pieces, it has a little bent neck at least, but probably best to use with an extra drop down adapter to move the vape further away (I always use these now, they help keep my water cleaner with extra cooling, and yeah move the vape further from face, can put it on the side, better ergonomics for me)

On second thought, since I'm spending less than I planned, and this is only 40 dollars on clearance for a 150 dollar rig, I'll just go with this as well as the goo roo small inline to see what it's like.

Nice, I'm sure you can sell it too if it's not for you, but fun to try a recycler I think! Maybe you will end up using it for dabbing with a banger instead too...

Here is a 10 to 10 drop down adapter that seems nice, and here is one that is 10 to 14 (though it does not seem as nice, this style is a bit more fragile, especially if the glass is thin, so the first one seems much better) I can suggest some others from DHgate if you are interested, also check vgoodiez

That will go well with it, thanks.

Thick glass isnt always stronger glass, Its a tough one.

Generally the simpler the piece the better. Optic clarity means even walls thickness which is good for strength.

Having a properly annealed piece is also a big part of it, a simple polariscope can be made with some sunglasses and you can see the stress in clear glass, showing how well annealed your piece is if your really thorough with the import pieces.
