Quadcopters and Drones

Does anyone have any toy/hobby/professional drones or quadcopters?

I picked up a toy Hubsan H107C for $68 on Amazon the other day (You can get the H107L w/o the camera for $35), and this thing is a blast! I still suck at flying, so I haven't taken any good videos yet, but I will post something if I get anything worthwhile.

Its great because it works well for flying in my living room, and it even works outdoors in the wind, I had it probably 100-150 feet up, it looked to be twice as high as some of the tallest pine trees around.

Anyways, I am hooked, I already ordered more batteries, extra propellers, and I keep looking at more quadcopters.

I picked up one (syma x5) for about the same price. I had it up about 399ft as to not incriminate myself and managed to get it back safe. So, feeling confident I immediately got it stuck in the top of a 50ft alder tree. Good thing I have a modified .25 cal air rifle that can shoot through branches or it would still be up there. I picked up 8 pack of batteries last year and I am down to one left that's not preggo.

Ohhh my fucking god, ha ha ha. I was about to come on here and suggest it! The Husband X4 (and it's rebranded clones under other names) is one of the best mini quadcopters on the market in that price range.

I bought a few before I ended up with the Husband x4. Have you mastered advanced flying?

Sometimes I love taking it out on a windy day and flying it around the backyard, the wind makes it challenging, but fun.

Ya know, I haven't played with mine in 6 months, time to bring her out again

Edit, my wife also bought me a Parrot AR drone a few years back. I've used that thing a few times, it's pretty cool to go up 300 feet and peek around with a live streaming feed (wifi connection).

More than once i've gone chasing my Parrot down the streets of my neighborhood as the wifi lost connection and the wind started to carry it away. Thank god there's a "LAND" button that uses ultrasonic sensors to avoid collisions as it lands.

I was trying to get a video way up high, and caught a big gust of wind, it is somewhere in the forest now. Spent about 20 minutes looking, had to stop back at the house and grab the Crafty before back out and look more. Wish me luc, it's probably gone though. Does anyone know where I can just get the quadcopter since I already have the controller? :)

Edit: Still lost.

Edit Edit: Got a $35 H107L on the way to replace it.

Good luck on the search, Buzz.

I don't have one (yet) but my buddy got a Phantom and he lets me play with it quite a bit. I think he's getting bored with it though so I'm probably going to buy it off him for cheap. :D I want to make some vape videos with it.

Just got myself one of the Hubsan X4 models from Amazon (without camera) and it is extremely fun to play with! Really brings back some great memories of my childhood spent playing with plenty of RC vehicles and aircraft. I completely suck at flying it and have already had to change multiple propellers but damn it's fun! I am amazed that 7-8 minutes of flight time is possible with that tiny battery.

That Phantom drone looks like a serious piece of hardware. I wouldn't mind getting something of that caliber once I nail the controls. At this point I would most likely crash it on my very first take off.

Yeah, it took me a couple of tries before I finally got the 'hang' of how it works (The LED colors REALLY help orient yourself as to what's the "front", especially at night).

I found practicing outside on a windless day was much better than flying indoors because usually crash landings don't do as much damage in my backyard

The little guy is a handful, the Blade is incredibly stable and the most fun to fly out of the 3 I have tried, but it doesn't have the longest range (which would have ironically prevented the hubsan from ending up in the forest)
