Hey guys, I bought my arizer solo about a month or so ago and I am in love with it.. NO problems what so ever... except draw resistance. I wouldn't necessarily even categorize it as a problem it just sometimes gets annoying to constantly suck on the stem..

I was looking at new stems and I came across the PVHES stems and I don't really know the difference between the regular PVHES or the turbo PVHES and if anyone knows please let me know.. also leave you reviews if you have either or these two stems and whether or not they're worth buying..

I don't buy PVHES stem's, however i make modify my stock stems to be very similar to the Planet Vape stems. A turbo stem has the 4 holes in the center of the stem turned into one large hole, allowing better airflow. Both versions have the 4 slits down the side of the stem for better airflow. the turbo model will offer the leas draw resistance.

I only saw these today. Are they a big improvement over the regular stems? Also does the added airflow effect the taste at all ? I have noticed when I cracked my stem the taste changed. In fact that is how I noticed the stem had a hairline crack. The vapour tasted more like hitting a da buddha, still great but not as tasty as the pristine stem

I can assume that the reduced resistance would be useful paired with a high drag glass piece... I posted a question regarding that in the solo thread, but it was quickly burried by other topics. So lets stir this thread a little, now im more curious about the turbo or standard choice in the PVHEGonG... Since it seems to be an add on that can be selectivly paired with glass pieces that have diffrent draw.

Almost feel like this should go in the glass catagory...

I see the standard is getting most the votes. Is there a reason why you wouldn't prefer less draw resistance?

Does the standards milk up better?

PVHES bent turbo! or the shorty for those lonely nights. I wore my solo out all the bowls except i never tried the wood ones, but the bent turbo rocked for me. I wish i would've gotten to try the wood bowls before i lost it....bummer.

Many think the standard PVHE stem is a happy medium between stock and the turbo. Yes less resistance could be a bad thing since the solo has to keep up with new room temp air being pulled in. I havent tried the turbo just seems to be the consensus in the solo thread. Now that there are new solos with larger holes in the bowl its becoming debateable if even the standard PVHE stems are needed.

I never had a problem with the temp being affected by the air being pulled in from the turbo except for when i had a few "impatient Vapists" that super sucked all the air out or just too many people smoking it in general. I havent seen the new models with bigger holes but like olivia said, who knows if theyre even needed after that, i just liked the open hole because it was easier to clean and it seemed to bake a lil more evenly. All in all im sure its just personal opinion, but if you havent tried a turbo give it a shot!

Wood is my fave won't brake and has a bigger bowl

Stock glass for home wood on the go

No way would I pay 3x what a stock stem is for a PVHE
I have one of ED' S Wood Stems and it serves a purpose.

Glass is by far the best material to enjoy the flavor profile of CANNABIS!

I have stock GonG' s & stems.
Love them!
I have PHVES GonG' s & Stems..
Love them!

Which is better?
Both!

If it was a money issue I would just use the stock stem with a seal fitted in the cap and a cheap low resistant bubbler.
I use the Stock Glass because it works.
The PHVES work different.

I mix it up!

Sorry to HIJACK!

Turbo to me is unnecessary!.

@ataxian I dont think its a highjack since the op never responded since Nov. Of last year :)

Now, I dont see a passthrough diffrence between a turbo stem and a eds wood stem, outside of material, which "will" effect flavor... Thats logic since even a dirty glass stem gets a flavor after a while.

So no doubt i will stick with glass! But that is a personal choice.

I was mostly curious about the turbo being matched with the fbomb in 14mm. I have a 18mm bubbler im waiting to get a gong for once PV restocks, but last time I took a sec to think and they disapeared! So im prepairing this time.

Edit, there is a good chance I will be using a cotton or hemp filter to which will add drG, but would a turbo help? Guess I will have to see.

The PNWT did not work for me on the SOLO.
The FBOMB I would get a 18mm fitting in lean of the 14mm.

Wood is the worse tasting path for me however some like it!

Glass is the best material 4 my liking.
I clean all my glass every week to sparkle clean.
ABV I throw away.
I prefer freshly made well purged concentrates.

We all have different needs.

The TURBO is a waste of $!
The built in glass screen is enough!
I use 1/2 SS screens.
With FINN'S cotton sans SS screen.
Just the stock stem is fine.

Abv, is yuck. I pitch it now, I only reclaim the oil from my solo stem in an everclear tincture... Which spanks me and puts me to bed when I drink it. Ive been getting back into extraction, but have only a micro tube, 3-5g max... Will be getting some new supplies for that soon, in lue of my current waiting on PV to resupply gong bowl I may go fiddle with that instead lol.

Ed's stems are kind of like a half-PVHES stem, it has the notches on it but not the ridges. I believe Ed's has 4 notches (at least the Solo stem I saw in person) and my PVHEGONG has 6. Other than that, for the Turbo, it's a straight bore with a little ridge for the screen. Ed's stems have a 5/16" hole for air. My PVHEGonG stem (at the load rim) measured 1.2cm, which is 0.47something inches, which in fraction terms is pretty close to being 8/16", or 1/2". So the airflow may be a bit different, but this is just going off of his given measurement, my measurement, some hard thinking, and acting like I actually know what I'm talking about ;)

As for stems and flavors, yes, glass stems give a flavor after a while, but unlike wooden stems, you can completely clean glass stems and start over again :)

super late to the party, but just noticed this thread.

the turbo does NOT have 4 holes drilled into it (that's the standard that has 4 in it's bowl part). it has 0 holes at all. it's just a big opening with a screen put in place. very little resistance, and does not work as well as the standard imo. it does have 4 channels cut out along the sides of the outer part to allow more air to flow in the side though.

too late to vote too, but i'd say the standard works better for me. the slight restriction allows you to stay in the right zone more easily.

Can anyone recommend a pvhes stem that has less resistance? I consider myself to have decent lung capacity so draw resistance isn't an issue. If it's a bit harder to hit, but produces thicker vapor than the stock stem, I don't mind! Thanks to all who are comparing back to the stock stem in physical description and in usage "experience" good objective and subjective reference points for all.

I use a PHVES straight stem dry for 3 years or a 18mm PHVES gong for a water path preferable!

Whatever you like I guess?

I like the bent stem reg turbo PVHES. I've been waiting for them to get in. I've been watching for a week. The straight reg PVHES have been in. I will buy 4. I will only order exactly what I want. The cost of shipping is a lot. I have one straight PVHES stem left. The PVHES mouthpieces are made of thicker glass that the stock Solo stems. The stock stems break easier.

This is a topic I have been thinking about lately.
With the standard and PVHE stem they are both configured with 4 holes in the stem. What I am finding I cant get a full roast happenig due to the positioning of the holes. When looking at the ABV puck you can see the heat path is in a funnel shape.
A question for the turbo users, do you get an even roast for the full depth of the stem load?
