Purple Dragon Strain?

Wanted to reach out to the FC community and ask if anyone's had experience with a Strain called Purple Dragon?

First off, it's an Indica --- but feels like a pure or dominant Sativa. Energy! No couch-lock. No heavy feeling. Does cause one to become a bit talkative and it's very difficult to stay angry at something.

Secondly, it's fricking harsh as all hell! So that got me wondering! (Maybe just a characteristic of this strain, but would rather be safe!)

Anyhow, I've vaped many different strains. None have come close to the harshness (there's still great flavor, but can feel in the throat after exhale) or the leftover/heavy feeling in the chest.

I love the effects, but if they're caused by something other than Cannabis..... I'd definitely pass on this strain!

So looking for help with two things?
1) Your experience and comments about the Purple Dragon strain. (there may be east coast & west coast variances of this strain, so will account for that....).
2) Looking for suggestions on most cost-effective way I could get this strain tested for contaminants? (Because if it's safe, this will be my Go To Day Time Strain for sure!)

And I've done my online research on this strain already, but relying solely on that would be under the assumption that the strain I have is actually the real Purple Dragon and that it has not been "altered" to enhance effect.

Thanks FC Community and Vape On!

How much of this did you buy? Id think you would need to have quite a bit of it to bother getting it tested.

Got an Oz. My dispensary always has this strain and the effects are exactly what I was looking for in a Sativa - Day Time med.

The reason that it's as harsh as hell is because it comes from the same people that brought you this:

Here's what I've found re harsh:
"As with most purples, they tend to absorb a lot of phosphates, so you’ll have to make sure to give it proper flushing. This is where some novice growers fall short producing this strain. The looks and smell may be there, but when you smoke it and it’s not flushed correctly, the taste is not good. Some patients have report a popping sound, followed by a harsh acrid smoke- the tell-tale sign of little to no flushing. Recently some good cuttings have been available in Northern California."

Thanks Snappo!

I don't really want to combust it to test for the popping sound, but assume a small quantity on a piece of foil and a bic lighter underneath would suffice to trigger the popping reaction?

Much appreciated!
Ultimately, I may have this tested, as it's always available at my dispensary and has the daytime effects I seek.

Also, wondering if any way to do some kind of home test? Maybe soak a bud in water (room temp) for a few days, then allow it to evaporate and see what's left? :uhh: Not sure, kind of guessing here.

Great info, I assume it was not properly flushed either. I have had bud like this and I just ended up making a concentrate from it because I could not vape it. Try water curing some of the buds to see if it smooths them out. It should get all those water solubles out of the flower.

If the buds aren't well cured they can also be a little harsh from my experience. Try burping the jars once or twice a day for a week or so to see if the vapor quality improves at all but I'd put my money on an insufficient flush.

Edit: I would try to return it, at least get some sort of reimbursement. IMO it isn't acceptable for dispensaries to sell meds like this.

You don't have to combust to test the assertion posed in the excerpt I posted: is the taste bad, and is there an acrid smelling burn-off or vape odor ? Anyway, it sounds like you have the standard Purple Dragon that hasn't been flushed/cured properly. If tested, it should prove out to be about 60% sativa/40% indica. The effects you describe are exactly as they should be for this strain.

Thanks Snappo! This is great info!

I'm going to pay close attention at next opportunity to look for Acrid Smell or bad taste.

Thanks z9, am going to give burping a go.

If it's curing, which seems to impact taste/smell mostly, then am going to keep the batch. My taster is a bit off anyhow and the effect of the batch is what I have been seeking for a long time!

Thanks All!

So much California medical fits this description. Kinda sad.
Typically the bottomshelf, but still.
