Purchasing my 2nd Vaporizer

So i purchased my first vape, a Davinci Ascent. I love it, or i should say i loved it as it just recently died on me, but i just sent it back today and will be receiving a replacement unit soon.

Anyways, I am looking to add to my collection and i see a few paths i could go with my next purchase.

I like the idea of having a "home" vape and a more mobile/stealthy one, but i'm really open to anything as there are so many great options.

I've thought of doing something along the lines of picking up a Solo and an F-Bomb for home use, and mostly using the davinci for when im out and about, but i would be open to getting a more traditional plug-in. However i am also very interested in the Haze Vaporizer, but i think it would be a bit redundant to have a Haze and Davinci while not having something else as theyre pretty similar. Would perhaps getting the Ascent and an F-Bomb to go along with the Haze be a good idea?

I dont really know much at all about the plug-in side of things and it is all a bit overwhelming so if any of you could help simplify it for me and suggest a few of the better models from anywhere in the $150-350.

Basically i am just looking for advice from all of you about what the possible choices i could make are in my situation.

Thanks in advance for putting up with my extremely loose guidelines haha there are just so many options i can't handle myself!

ps. Smell is still a bit of a concern for me as I am currently dorming for one more year. It doesnt need to be stealthy really, just not so obvious (i've used my Ascent many times as well as my friends' pax and we've never gotten in trouble, it needs to really be obvious for any RA to actually care enough to look in to it)

i own a haze and its a godsend. very nice peace of machinery. i would reccomend it.

Yeah, i really like the idea of having the Haze as a portable... the two chambers is awesome and the fact that you can prepack a couple of those things and go out for a day is very cool.

i prefer using conduction screens rather then cans, the cans dont give me the results i want. the fact it can handle concentrate alone is a plus too even though all of my oils taste the same out of it.

Are you a "session," user, or do you like to take only a couple tokes and move on?

How important is hitting through water to you? Is flavor a major concern?

How efficient are you looking to be? How big of hits are you looking to take?

How important is portability? What need(s) that the Ascent does not fill is the biggest issue for you?

Then your 'what should I buy?' thread could go on for pages and months. You really need to narrow it down to at least a home vape or a portable. Another portable is fine if you're in love with portability, but you pay a price for that with batteries that eventually need replacing, and smaller, harsher hits with a bowl that needs replenishing more often.

You should look at the vape threads, both portables and plug-in, and find the more popular models. Check youtube for vids (almost any vape that's been out a while has some) so you can see them in operation.

If you just sit back and let people suggest their own favorite models, you often won't know whether John Doe has tried a dozen different models or is suggesting his first purchase.

The post above, from EveryDayA, with nothing but questions, is more proof that you haven't narrowed down your options enough.

Having started with the Davinci Ascent as my first vape (It convinced me to fuck combustion!). Mine died after 1 month of HEAVY use. I was in the same position as you (though I wanted my vape ASAP because I knew it would take a week or two for Davinci to repair my Ascent - so I made my decision in less than 48 hours.

Long story short, I was so pissed at my Ascent, I was hellbent on finding a stupid simple vaporizer that wouldn't break. Which lead me to purchase the Lotus Vaporizer which is a BEAST - words cannot describe the Lotus - you can't compare it against the Ascent.

A 30 minute session with my Ascent can be finished in 1 minute with my Lotus (that includes loading and unloading the vape!) - Seriously, it's an amazing vape - except for one catch - it takes a while to learn how to properly handle the butane torch to achieve optimal vapor production (not a vape you can hand to a newbie and tell them to hit it!).

I have moved on to plugin vapes now (E-Nano FTW!!!) but I still use my Lotus as a portable/backyard vape (and my Ascent for road trips), In fact, I think I'll buy a few Lotus vapes as stocking stuffers for my friends.



FYI - The F-Bomb (PNWT) bubblers don't seem that popular (on this site anyway) - very few people actually enjoy them (who wants to crane their neck when you can buy a nice bent neck bubbler for $30?). I have one, for the sheer novelty of it, but rarely use it.

Sessions mostly, water isn't a main concern i just like the idea of being able to switch it up on occasion and stray from the norm. Efficiency is appreciated but i am a bit of a sucker for big hits so i would settle for less efficiency if the return is good.

And concerning portability, i guess im beginning to lean a bit more towards a plug in vape, or at least something to use more so at home. Would the Davinci with a bubbler be able to replicate a more traditional home set up such as the extreme q? If not, then i guess I am definitely in the market for a home setup to go along with my DaVinci for portable use.

If you're thinking about a home setup - Seriously consider the E-Nano - it's a powerful fucking vape for the price, literally cured me of any desire to find a "better" vape. This vape has everything I want (and my Exotic Afzelia Burl version is damn sexy to look at!).

(FYI, for size reference, the E-Nano vape is about the size of a small RedBull Can, it pairs VERY well with a bubbler)

Adding water filtration always gives you a smoother, more predictable vaping experience, and with the proper adapter you can use a glass piece with multiple vapes. Check the Glass section for some good, inexpensive bubblers.

Hopefully no one will confuse me with that other guy, EveryDayAsshole. I hate that guy.

Gah, I'm already drooling on the Herbalizer and the Cloud EVO, and now this thread got me googling the E-nano and the Haze... and now I'm drooling on those as well!

What I'm trying to tell OP here is that there is so many vapes, and part of the fun is the hunt for a new one. Spend some time reading the dedicated threads, ask some questions there, part take in the convo and I'm sure you'll find a new vape that suits you :spliff:

I would concur with @Ratchett.

Log vapes get recommended quite often, particularly to newer vaporists, and with very good cause. They're pretty affordable, they're simple as shit to use, they mate easily with glass, they all are small companies with great customer service, and all 3 current FC logs can create pretty darn big clouds while still being very easy to keep efficient - plus, you can leave them on all day, ready for use. Very stealthy too.

I would look into the E-Nano, or the UD with a VVPS - Variable Voltage Power Supply. Each have their advantages.

I would also check out the Heat Island thread. This is a log vape that has a year-long waiting list, and are generally highly sought after. If this vape interests you in the SLIGHTEST, then put your name on "The List." It's free to do so, and you just might kick yourself months from now for not doing so.

I never much cared for the Ascent with water tool. With an f-bomb or PNWT at higher temps, it can certainly be smoother as @max said.

But I didn't find the Ascent / water tool hookup to match a desktop experience. :nope:

Yeah i've started looking through the plug-in section to try and determine which i want. Do desktops tend to smell more, less, or comparable when compared to the ascent or portables in general?

Well, desktops are mostly convection, and this can help with keeping the smell down, since you're only heating the herbs when you're inhaling. But you can also create some massive clouds with these things - just check out the EVO thread! :whoa: Way too much for me, but it sure looks fun. Big clouds can create big smells, but they dissipate fast too. An open window is your best friend here - so long as no one hears your bubbler!

Many portables tend to lean toward conduction at this point. The Ascent is mostly conduction. This heats your herbs the whole time and can create pretty noticeable smells. I find the Ascent to be a particularly bad offender, but others have had better success. And if you've been using that thing with no problems, I doubt you'd have a problem with a desktop smell. :2c:

IME, big ol' convection clouds are less noticeable than a session of conduction. :shrug:

One of the advantages of a log is the aromatherapy cups to mask your usage... :tup:

Well, after all that i've decided on the LSV. Funny how none of you mentioned it, i just came across it and really like it. Thats how this goes i guess; there's so many options, that no matter what others tell you, ultimately youre gonna find something that grabs your attention.

now hopefully i can manage to remain committed to the LSV in the coming days before i make the purchase and dont find some other cool gadget that catches my eye:lol:

I have the Pinnacle Pro Hydra-tube and it is uncomfortable, the F-Bomb is a Hydra-tube so that would apply to that to. The D020 bubbler is a popular water tool around here at least your head is not positioned looking down. The cheap glass thread is worth a check. The Dhgate website is where you can find one. It's only about $30 including shipping in the States.

Yeah i've seen the d020 mentioned a bunch. What measurement adapter would i need for that? It doesnt mention any measurements on dhgate

I swear its probably a good thing im young with limited funds because i would spend every last penny on these things :lol:

The logs look very cool though. I admittedly havent looked in to them that much, however im a sucker for things made of wood so i definitely see myself picking one up one day.

I don't see the F-bomb getting much love in this thread. However, I do love mine.

Perhaps I'd love it less if I were using something like a D020. However...I can use my F-bomb in my bed. To me that counts for something.
