Pen Puffco Pivot

One thing I'd like to point out is this is really discreet. It looks for sure like it could be a nic vape in public and while not in use so far after a gram or so I cannot detect noticeable smell and I heard no comments from my wife when I left it out (and loaded with a fresh grain of Pomelo) who is what I would call a super smeller.

When it heats up, there is a noticeable hint in the immediate area and if you aren't using a personal filter then of course the exhale is going to be picked up if inside or directly downwind.

The truly impressive thing for me was I was able to take it preloaded to the restroom, have a quick session using a Sploofy Pro, clean up, and exit in about 3 minutes and nobody had a clue which is exactly what my wife requires. I do this with my Tempests and Huni Badgers etc, but usually need 10+ minutes to allow things to clear enough that it's not detectable or spread throughout the house by the black hole vortex that is our central air intake which loves to distribute fragrance among the family members.

This is a fucking joy so far, what incredible flavor

This is one thing I absolutely love about this little pillar! I hated using carts in public, because there aren't very many good batteries that are stealthy and hide the cart to make it look like an e-cig unless it's some shitty colourful disty battery/cart all in one. I can completely palm this thing and get better/quicker hits with shorter puffs than burning an atty at whatever voltage with waaay better flavour since it's not constantly being reheated. I know it's apples and oranges, but this has completely replaced the carts I quit over a year ago lol.

Does it matter where this hole at the top of the chamber is oriented considering the angled air inlet in the cap? It sits right under the intake air path when the chamber is put in on one of the three possible orientations and made me wonder if there's any point to it...

I've run a gram or so through it and am starting to find a happy draw strength! Zero issues cleaning and I never really go over 2/3 a pea size for a session. I think that's a perfect size for this chamber on red.

Timps27

Feel like I’m winnin’ when I’m losin’ again
Or even psychologically, wasting dab, is what I meant, like just seeing some vapor come off of the knife when you drop the dab in, tiny bit of oil remaining on the knife... end up heating the oil twice kind of too etc. ehhh

I can’t be the only one that pulls my hot knife past my mouth and inhales that little bit of vapor…

Got me a wpa that @Shit Snacks posted earlier made by Jeff.glassart on insta. Bought it here. Sold out now and they took it off the website. $60 is pretty pricey, but it is a specialty piece that involves quite a bit more work than other wpas. Doesn’t get the silicone out of the air path, but lets you hook it up to various pieces. Might need a drop down though for clearance. Even though I only got the wpa, the store also sent me a box of terp wipes. Thought that was pretty cool.

Did I mention it rips?

Nice! Have you tried to use it without the silicone, he posted something on Instagram showing at least one of his WPA designs, where you could take out the silicone and it would seal with an o-ring or something??

He has different variations. They were all sold out. One variation has an open top so you can use a peak joystick. Not certain, but I think all of them use the o-ring around the silicone, some just gotta cut off the top portion of the MP. If you take off the silicone sleeve, it’s just the oven. Not sure an o-ring can withstand that kind of heat.

Yes I think it was some cut silicone that he was using and maybe including?

So i have a question about my new Puffco Pivot. Not sure whether this should be a new thread or everyone seems like they want to keep things within the individual device thread. Mods: Please move if this should be a new thread.

I was cleaning the original chamber that came with my Pivot. I am ONLY using 90% iso w cotton squabs and this is the best i can get it clean. I tried soaking the chamber a few times too. I'm not sure about using anything but the cotton swabs. Is there a way to get this cleaner or am i getting too anal about this? Don't want to scratch the inside of the chamber. Is this burnt? Is this a flaw in the chamber i should contact Puffco about?

I did switch over to one of the spare chambers i bought. How often should i be cleaning this? Each time i use?

Advice and recommendations welcome, thanks!!

Yes. Just swab it out good with a dry cotton swab after every dab, the oven and the mouthpiece. I’m still on my original chamber and ran through 4 grams without a deep clean yet, just swabbing after every dab.

Not sure what you can do about the burnt marks though.

I never really vape with my Pivot beyond green setting so i don't know why this would happen. I am going to be a lot more diligent about this second chamber i am now using, but just not sure why it happened in the first place

I read in some reviews that the temp varies from device to device. I've not had any issues with char and both chambers (my warranty pivot showed up and I've been rotating them charging) look as clean as new. I wonder if your green is calibrated crazy high or something?

I clean after each dab and I do not baby it with the qtips... I apply a pretty good amount of pressure which gets some of the more baked on material at the end of a session depending on what I'm using.

I'm sure it could be a variety of factors but it seems more the temp calibration may not be right since you have char in the bottom. Isn't the 3d chamber only supposed to heat the sides?

Yes. That char is wild, looks like chaz on chaz and nothing i've ever seen before. Only time I had stubborn chaz was my own fault for ripping it way longer than I should have on red or white and it gets baked on good. Hot iso and/or a bit of a dark crystal cleaner scrub will melt it right off. Didn't know about variability between temps on Pivots first i've heard and would love to see those reviews.

About to pick up the Puffco Pivot from a friend of mine that works for a vape shop. Price will be 115.. I hope this is worth it. Reading the prior comments seem fit what I’m looking for. Interested in traveling with the pivot and take it in Disney or universal

Well ya called me out a bit, I did say "reviews" but now I should clarify I mean one review specifically which actually did do temp measurements:

I'm curious if it could be the 3d chamber being a bit off on its resistance or if the unit itself would be the issue with calibration. I'd imagine if it happens with more than one chamber it's the pivot battery, otherwise it may have just been an out of spec chamber.

I just don't see how you could get that on a single dab session otherwise without reheating it unless it wasn't fully cleaned each time and continued to bake. I wouldn't think it'd be left with THAT much leftover material after swabbing so I doubt there's only user error as the cause. Plus the char on the bottom unless that's a thing... Still new to 3d chambers but I understand the underlying tech at least.

Maybe I skimmed through it too quick, but are you referring to when he tested the temps in the chamber and they didn't correlate to Puffco's set temps? If so, this is a nothing burger imo. Did I miss something about the claim of temp varying from device to device? That would be the real gravy. Either way, you can def chaz on the first hit on a clean chamber. I think any temp variation has more to do with airflow and technique, but of course there very well could be an issue with that atomizer or potentially the battery. I wonder if the battery oxidation/arching whatever has something to do with it and is perhaps pumping out a higher voltage? Just don't understand how that shit gets in the silicone mouthpiece?

My best guess is that it wasn’t cleaned good after every dab. Happened on my OG peak when it first came out. I didn’t swab good after every dab. Bowl was black and nothing I did took it out. If you check out Vapefiend’s review of the pivot, it looks like they don’t swab after every dab. Their pivot bowl was quite filthy also.

Not a good idea. There’s no smoking in Disneyland, and this thing chucks clouds.
