Prefilled Carts for Noobs

what wattage seems to work best for the prefilled carts? I bought a Pico Mega and a Clieto tank to upgrade my experience with co2 oils and I don't know what watts I should be at. I don't know how to set the Pico Mega to voltage or to adjust the wattage by voltage if that is what I need to do instead of changing the wattage.

Start at like 4 or 5 Watts and move up if you need.

This is going to sound stupid probably, but how do I know if I need to move up? I tried a higher wattage than that, and it seemed fine but I have no clue. The Clieto tank is rated for 20-40 watts. I think I tried lower 20's and I didn't get any burnt taste but I didn't take many hits and they were short puffs.

Did you empty the prefilled cart into your clieto tank or are you using the prefilled cart?

You should be able to get an atomizer resistance reading on the cart if so. Just to put things into perspective, the standard lithium ecig batteries are 4.2V when fully charged. With a 1.5 ohm tank without variable voltage and watts, the watts will start out at 11.8 watts and slowly drop as the voltage of the battery drops as you use it.

Personally, I would keep it at around 5 watts, but I tried them out on my variable voltage device and ran it at 8 watts and was puffing fine. The problem with burning the wick, as you probably know, once that's done, the atomizer is basically trash and you'll have to move that liquid to another tank.

I am using the Clieto tank. I did buy extra coils in case but I won't really use this option of delivery too often so I am not as worried with burning out a coil. I just don't really use it enough to really figure out what the sweet spot would be. I much more prefer strong concentrates like BHO wax or Live Resin shatter, but I do want to be able to use this to supplement when I am not able to get away from crowded places or just as a back up in general. I just wanted to have an idea of where to start and how I might now I'm getting better or worse performance before I just burn out a coil.

Higher watts seems to medicate faster, probably because it's delivering a more dense hit. You'll find your sweet spot, but best to keep it on the low side as you'll have less problems. These coils hang on to a bit of the precious cjuice, something else to consider if you end up swapping coils.

Ask questions, post your favorite brands and strains, share your least favorites, battery preferences, etc.

Discuss and enjoy!

This is not a forum to discuss why traditional atomizers are better, all these devices have their purpose and it is impossible to beat the discretion and convenience that a cart offers when travelling or in public places.

So what batteries do you all prefer for carts? I had been using a dr dabber battery before upping to a variable voltage, but now i find i like buttonless batteries the most for carts- like from the blu ecigs.

The worst cart I've ever used and tasted was a Spliffin.
You must have either compromised the atomizer or put the Spliffin cart on the wrong battery.

Well there's lots of different terps, I'm guessing they match the dominant terp in the strain. They do that with "clear" now, the extraction process leaves it very strong but very bland so they now have a new line of "terp added' clear that explodes with the strain flavor. They just look at the test for that strain and see Pinene is the dominant terp so they bump a few drops of that in,etc...

"The Clear" has been branching out their product line(s), now they change the name from Clear to the new 'boutique' line? "extra virgin" just like olive oil...and maybe just as many fakes as so-called 'extra virgin' olive oils.

http://clearconcentrate.com/baroni.html

Supposedly BrassKnuckles was created by former Heavy Hitter's members. HH carts tasted chemical to me, but I tried the BK and they are good...but...so damned runny (just tilt Tangie from side to side, don't need to invert) that it moves in the cart with the slightest change in angle. That runny, excepting adding 20% terps, which is unlikely; makes me worry they have added PG/VG/PEG to the mix). Bad part of a glass cartridge, is if you have tile in the bathroom or any hard surface...drop them, and they break *very* easily...money down the drain!

Spliffin carts are some the best I have tasted, coil works well, hits very hard; too hard for inexperienced users...big clouds. Spliff currently, have clear *plastic*, not glass<<<found out when I tried to heat up the remaining dregs with a disposable lighter, like you can do to the Honeyvape carts that are filled with very thick oil.

I tried Xtracology carts late '15, not much difference btw those and same cart design in the 710 King Pen/Loud Pack carts.

I know Rumpwax did some carts back in '15, but I was never able to find them.

Tried so many of the Shattertanks™ @HTCC April '16, but did not think so much of them as they are top-price $60-75ea.

I've just switched from a generic battery I bought at my local dispensary to an eVic Basic for some evolab cartridges and more importantly a Divine Tribute V3 to use with concentrates. I feel pretty overwhelmed by the amount of settings the Basic has and want to understand how to use it (and not have it explode in my face) before it arrives. All of the tutorials online are for people using vape juice and I don't think it's a direct correlation. I emailed evolab to see if they have any advice for me, so I'll see what they say.

The eVic Basic has the following settings: Temp, TCR, Power and Bypass modes (I believe that I'll avoid the last two settings). Anyone have one of these devices or a mod box that uses the same OS from Joyetech? Anyone willing to help out a n00b?

@cloudblower Hi. I bought granddaughter a Smok Alien as a way to get the stupid heart patient off cigs. It overwhelmed her with the multiple settings, cleaning and use so I took it back and set on shelf. I saw the DT Weed accessory for $24 so figured what the hell and ordered. I have it. I have usd it. The settings I used are from the video (M1, 350 degrees,35 watts) and I can get one hit of true vapor and several follow ups of undetermined quality. I dump chamber and very dark duff. I haven't complained because it is so minor an expense and it gives life to something I have no use for. I tried bud, medium and fine grind. I have increased watts to 50 for a bitter hit. It reminds me of my NO2 that while it works (vapor) chamber is too small and constant fiddling required for those of us with "higher" needs. Other folks like it. I don't want to piss in their punch. I just use other vapes more to my needs and preferences. It worked, just not enough for Sir Piggy (myself.) If anyone reading has "Why you idiot, this is what you do!" advise I would love it. I put prefilled cart on it and get good results but I prefer flowers. Just do. ( I hate to beg even from a plant)

tltr Lots of different vapes, get what suits you.

Hi @cloudblower, I'm in the same situation you are in, go to the DT thread, a lot of knowledgeable folks there willing to help.
To learn about settings, start on page 92 that's my recommendation.

I have the Evic Basic. I tried to do what you want to do and couldn't find any videos either, but honestly it's easier to figure out when it's right in front of you. 5 clicks to turn on/off
Turn on, 3 clicks to get to the edit screen. Use the temp buttons on the bottom of the unit to navigate the menu and put in TCR mode. I'm using my DTV3 @ TCR 300 30w 370-420 on the large donut.

To set custom TCR the unit has to be off (5 clicks)
Then hold the fire button and the right button (on the bottom of the unit) until the TCR screen pops up so you can make your adjustments. 5 clicks to get out of this mode and back to the main menu. It's actually really easy once you get used to how to navigate with the two bottom buttons.

Not sure what you should run your cartridges at, but I imagine you would run them in watts mode and start real low and work your way up til you find a happy medium.

Hey guys!
Came across something weird so just a heads up
It is also worth noting that i live in a state with very poor access to MMJ, so this might just be a black market problem, or maybe not, I cant tell.

But I was looking for c02 recently and came across some diff brands, mostly FlavRX in the black market (yes, i Know theres a warning about those, everyone seems to love them even when i inform them of possible/probable pesticides). So anyway I wanted something different so i grabbed some of the SpaceVapes brand. I had always heard good things. Its also worth noting that ive seen the packaging before, and it was a bit different.

So these SpaceVape carts are printed with diff strains on the front (alien og, alien king louis, alien this and that) and on the back the same logo thing ive seen before, thc count and testing number). Heres where I noticed something strange though:

Keep in mind these are 3 different strains and obv the tracking number and thc content are fake. I've tried them and honestly theyre pretty decent, they do not seem "homemade" at ALL (oil itself is comparable to alot of other c02). However someone could easily open them and seal them again. The design itself is cheap but good oil, BUT: i am used to all the c02 i see to be kinda firm when cool and when it is heated is when it gets really liquidish. However this c02 is very syrupy and flows like liquid when you even turn it upside down. Other brands dont have such flowing liquid, usually i wouldnt be able to pour them out even if i tried. So prolly some sort of glycol/additives are present here. I wonder if SpaceVapes makes certain legit but untraceable carts like these, or if they're counterfeit. Taste and feel very nice, so, i kinda doubt its counterfeit. Diff strains do taste different too

I tried an Alpine cartridge last week. It was rosin from Gorilla Glue, best tasting natural terps I've had from a cartridge. My budtender chick tells me its the most popular brand ATM. They restock twice a week. SC LAbs tested at 77.98 THC with batch ID number, quality pyrex and stainless hardware. Google Alpine Vapor.

BTW, one advantage of a box mod over a pen battery is fine tuning the watts. The Alpine cart has instructions that recommended 3.8w, the Heavy Hitter I'm using this week recommends 4.0w. (I've read that carts work between 2.7 and 4.2 watts /shrug)
Another thing is my Cuboid uses two 18650's that can power these cartridges for days without recharging.

^i find the very common and cheap "Spinner 2" to be great for c02 carts cause you can set the dial anywhere from 3.3 to i think 4.7. Also it hits very nicely, as far as just pen vaporizers which i was never a big fan of.

However, these days, my main device for c02 is actually Dr. dabber Ghost. I originally got it for bho and i just twist that part off and it vapes c02 carts very well and uses up even less than the Spinner or any other ecig somehow (when set to the very lowest), yet its 3.7v. I think it might have to do with forced air? Not at all proficient with pens though.

(I prefer Firefly2 and even just SSV/Extreme Q lol)

Oh and my thing above with the pics of SpaceVape brand with all same labels. I hope people notice that im referring to fraudalent cartridges, and while they still seem to be "decent", this is def worth being aware of (just a post above the last one). Watch out for this if you see SpaceVapes, especially not in a dispensary

I was in WA state recently and bought a Nectar cart of Bubba Kush to put on my eleaf mod that I brought with me.

The criteria was ALL cannabis products only in the oil to include terps used to thin. No PG/VG/PEG. It was indeed very thick and viscous.

Indeed, this cart fulfilled those requirements. Its a steel and glass cart and made to be refillable.

I used 6-8 watts (more often 8) and it worked splendidly and I was able to sesh at my sister's house without disturbing anyone at all.

I did throw it into my checked baggage and I think the lack of pressurization hose it up. When I got home it was leaking out of the 510 joint and throwing globs of oil in my mouth through the MP. Up until that point, it worked splendidly.

Dispensaries in my state will open in the fall and while I don't see carts as my main form of cannabis, I do see wanting to keep one around (if I can get one like the Nectar) for complete ease of use. I medicate for pain and sleep and I see one of these being very handy when up at 2 am in pain and just want a quick knock-out.

So do most prefills work on mods? I use o pens and they arent enough i wanna be able to use flavored ejuice and some wax to mix or find good hash oils that wont make me change coils so much

Keep looking for answers but i get an hour to my self hard to study the subject

If i have to carry a cart and screw it on when i want its fine

I just ordered a YoCan Hive on Ebay for twenty bucks. Its a little Bic sized device specifically made for extracts and CBD cartridges. Anyone have any on-hand experience with this device?
The quality in both medicine and hardware has increased in the last couple of years with cartridges and I need new tech.

My dispensary recommended the hive to me, but I went with the Canna Blast from Mig Vapor. It leaks a little bit on the bottom, but it's not bad.

I may check out the hive another time, but i like the e-cigarette style shape of the canna blast.

I really wanted to get a Yocan Evolve-C but I can't find it for sale anywhere.

Sorry for back to back. The other reason I didn't order the hive was because I saw a huge discrepancy in prices. On Yocan's site it's like $56 but everywhere else was like $20-$25... So I didn't want to buy a counterfeit but also didn't want to pay $56.

Hopefully I'll get an official Yocan product. That price point on the website is foolish. An alternative is the Seego Conseal, it goes for around 17 bucks on eBay.

I've got this renewed interest in cartridges but I'm not spending another dime on Ego Twist type Chinese knockoffs when my box mods provide more reliable power for longer durations. I'm also not interested in vaping my shatter in the provided tanks. They eventually break down and you gotta get replacements. I'm not a cloud chaser or E-juice guy. I'll use Divine Tribe V3, or a HEnail on a box mod for portability, or my Enail for home use. What I need is a sneak-a-toke stealthy device for work that can switch out CBD carts on the fly.

Ok, the unit bought from eBay is legit. Plenty of vendors with sealed boxes and Yocan QR "stickers".
I got a syringe of Fruity Pebbles E-juice from Alpine Vapor and it was easier than expected to load. Kinda funny getting rips off something that feels like a mini bic. Also loaded some shatter on the quartz wick, good for a couple meaty, flavorful hits.
These tanks are pretty slick but they're gonna fail eventually and I'm not set on getting more. I got this device for pre-filled cartridge hijinks at work so I also got a 99.9% CBD cart by Flower of Life.
This cart is shorter than the tanks but the mouthpiece just sticks out the top.
Taking a hit from this is like kissing a mini bic lighter in your fist. But it's a great hit that will make you smile.

There are other options like the Eleaf iNano but I knew the Yocan Hive came with two magnetic connectors.

CA sales tax pushed it to just over $20.

Update on the Yocan Hive: the E-juice tank leaked! Caught some seepage into the bottom of the magnetic connector before it could creep out the vents and into the connector well (the magnet couples to a spring loaded pin). No big deal, had suspected leakage possibilities from youtubers. I was able to refill a spent Heavy Hitters cartridge and it worked, but the atomizer was noticeably weaker compared to the fresh Yocan tank. The two magnetic connectors make switching out tanks for back to back comparisons pretty slick. Still, trust issues with the E-juice tank but the wax burner works great.

Another downside is my favored Alpine Rosin carts are made with wider diameter hardware so they're going to have to stay on my mods. Looks like I'll be looking for other brands with conventional sized tanks like Heavy Hitters.

The strong suit for the Yocan Hive is it's simplicity and the stealth factor. Less versatility than a mod but superior to anything that needs a 510 threaded USB charger.

Hey man Im also from NY and yeah I've seen these. They are definitely not legit. I am assuming they're made somewhere in or around NY. They're so runny like flavrx and last so shortly because rhey add a lot of flavorings most likely not terpene based either. They are ridiculously cheap and use plastic parts. For budget theyre the best like 17 a half g but the health wise id stay away. i know us stoners want to believe that terps get insane but the amount of flavor some crts have is just unreal. flavrx for instance. definitely some ejuice there.

i stick to king pens.
honeys and kings have been my two favorites. Theyre clean smooth mīnīmal additives and they last a long time because they actually have as much wax as they claim to.

really hard to find in non mmj areas but if it pops up id recommend them.
