Pre-Filled Cartridges always clogging. WHY?

I have been buying pre-filled cartridges for 2 years now. I have used many different battery sources over that time. Once I learned about VV and VW batteries instead of the cheap fix wattage pen batteries, i started upgrading. I like a low temperature vape (2.6-3.0) for a few reasons. Mainly to conserve material, but it also helps on the old lungs.

Currently I use a a VV cheap Pen battery at the lowest settings (2.6), or my small Box MOD at 3.0v. I always wait a few minutes between hits, clear the chimney after each hit, ect. No mater what pre-filled cartridge I buy, they end up needing to be cleared by sucking on it hard without powering battery before i can use it. This is driving me crazy.

Over the past few years, I have met people that claim to never have their carts clog. some using the same brand as I have just with different results. This makes me think it maybe user error and not device, or settings. I have looked into the Ccell cartridges and found they clogged just as fast.

What are the leading factors that contribute to "Chimney Clog"?

Thanks for any replies, Cody

I really like the convenience of the pens but the clogging is an issue with me as well. Not quite sure what the cause may be as to why this happens. Thanks for the thread. Looking forward to hearing what others have to say.

Were they authentic enscribed Ccells? The knock off ones seem to clog more for me. Most of them are knock offs.

Yes, They were the real deal. I found a thread on here talking about Ccell and one other cart. I read the warnings. I did have to buy online because Ccell does not sell directly. I found an Ebay seller. He made me a deal on 2 TH205's and 2 TH210's. When I purchased the carts, I also got 4 grams of distillate in syringes. Each of the 4 carts started clogging within the first 10 hits.

They were awesome hitters. Used a lot of material though in the process. That 4 grams went twice as fast as it would have in the pre-filled carts. i save 10 a gram buying it in syringes at my local store, with the ccell's using so much material, I needed to stay with pre-fill just ot avoid going broke.

I also found tips on filling ccells with cap on bottom until material fully settles. I dont think the tips helped really.

I find with ccells I don't have to hold the button or inhale near as long as other carts, and I tend to hang around the same voltage as you. The airflow is much more open than other carts and I get more vapor in the same amount of time.

Does it work any better if you fire at higher voltage for less time?

Also keep in mind 3v on the stick battery will never be the same as 3v on a box mod which is a true 3v being applied based on the cartridges resistance. Just curious if they clog at the same setting on different batteries?

The only other thing I could honestly think of is make sure you aren't drawing so hard that you are pulling oil into the chimney during your inhale or during your cooldown hit that could be clogging.

Other than that you might try a pod system like the Ald V Fire.

That was my initial thought as well. I can take big hits, I'm only 46. I just find in my older years, 3 small hits are better than 1 or 2 bigger hits. many will disagree I'm sure. I do know I don't need to cough to get off. After the 1st gram cart went so fast, this is what i had to do the rest of the time just to conserve.

I was also thinking the same thing. I go though half gram carts in 4 days. I usually buy 6-10 carts at a time. each time i try a different store, different dart, looking for one that doesn't do this. I tried bran new carts, after priming wick and starting off low for first 2-3 hits, i would then run the whole cartridge at the same temp. I dont think it matters what temp there at, I always end up with clogs. I always felt the hotter the cart is after the hit, the more chance of it leaking through whatever its not suppose to be leaking though.

This is where I'm still a little confused. If these VV batteries are truly VV, dont they have to be able to adjust with each carts different resistance? if not, they're not VV but rather VW. I did feel better even if I was using a Pico istick.

The only reason i switched from my Pico was all my cartridge packaging was refering me to "Use battery with Pre Heat function for best results". I started preheating, specially first hit of session, hoping to avoid clogging. No luck. Guess i'll go back to Pico.

I noticed right after I got the Pre Heat batties, I was actually producing vape during preheat. I starting hitting this pre heat so not to waste. I guess I could pre heat at 1.8v on Box Mod, if pre heating even helps.

Drawing hard during hit and or after hit during cool down is the only thing i can think of. I think my Pico may have had better air flow.

Thanks for the help.

I think there is a problem with vaping cartridges too low.

I started vaping with divine tribe and really enjoyed the low temp. When I went to carts, I blew up a few coils and started thinking "Keep it low" like the DT. This kept me from burning coils, but i kind of think thats when they started clogging.

To be more honest, even with myself, most of my hits are 2.6- 2.9

Its either that or air flow.

Thanks again, Cody

I just got a new CCell of Co2 extracted Shishkaberry, it's on my Evic Basic @ 5w = 3v. Will comment back if I get any clogs.

Just writing on the wall here throwing out ideas,

Honestly I think what could be happening is the oil changes viscosity when heated, and when doing cool down pulls it could potentially be drawing oil into the chimney that needs to be cleared before air will flow. If it was just the heater clogging it should loosen as soon as you apply power, but it seems like the clog is a little further up. So maybe try doing cool down hits a little more gently, or for less time just to see if that helps.

I notice I tend to get clogs more often on 1g carts which is why I now avoid those and stick with .5

This, big time!

The type of pen/battery you use makes a difference too IME. My Puma Mini is my "unclogger"!

I just think with disty and ambient temps, etc it's just the nature of the beast, but also preferring .5g TH2's for that very reason.

I'm also pretty sure I get way less clogs with co2 oil than disty.

I use the half gram cartridges they don’t seem to clog as bad. I’ve used a long hat pin to unclog. I like the full grams as well they are cheaper in the long run. I’ve been getting the Crystal Clear by NW Cannabis Solutions - a good price and I like their flavored blackberry and pineapple flavors. They were $19 for the 1/2 gram and $35 for the full grams at Cannabis 420 here in WA.

I’m using a cheap cartridge type vape I bought at a cannabis store. It looks very small like an ecig. It’s the gGO by Ganesh made here in WA, only $20. I’ve had it for over two months and it’s working great. This is a much better way to use concentrates for me. I didn’t like my Dabbler to use concentrates.

Since it is colder in many parts of the country, try heating your cart a bit with a hair dryer. Don't cook it, but warm it up. Does that seem to help?

I don't have the patience to stand there with the dryer and put the carts in a baggie and drop them in some warm water to get it flowing. But, that's usually if there is some dry hits coming off, not when clogged.

I know this isn't what anyone really wants to hear, but out of frustration
from not being able to effectively get good hits when it gets cold in Vegas.
I got this for my bub & he loves it, I picked one up also after he kept raving
about it, lol. It warms up so many things so targeted & like my glass globes.
Sai Bubbler, Mole Poseidon attachment ect

Also nice, I just used it to setup my christmass gifts with AF & atty all
set in box & shrink wrap it with this, hehehe.

also very useful for re-wrapping batteries!
I actually need to replace my old heatgun, this is pretty cheap.

I was pleasantly surprised how quite & efficient this little thing is.
I think you'll really like it, "Tunes" I have it chair-side now, lol.
I see someone just released a Top Air Flow cart with ccell coils.
The Best ccell cart (bottom air) out in Vegas is the Select Elite
oil carts, 88 - 94% and smooth great hit on mod at 5.5watts.
Thick clean oil, check it out at Jardin's in Vegas also Tommy
Chongs Shango's.
Real ccells in gold cart.

The leading causes of cartridge clogging are condensation, flooding, or buildup of oil residues. Once you realize that the device is not functioning correctly, unclog your device. Clean the cartridge as soon as you realize liquid droplets are reaching your tongue during inhalation. Second, remove the excess fluids in The chambers. You can also clear the air holes by melting oil residues or poking them with sharp objects. Always remember to open the air holes enough while inhaling. Remember to ensure the cartridge is loose as tightening it might block the air holes.

I see peeps drawing too soon and too fast. If its clear, 2s on the power before drawing. Then draw as slow as possible for a few secs, then off the power and clear it.
I think of it like a little bucket - if its not up to temp, you have all sorts of reclaim (on a banger etc - temps too low, oil falls out of suspension too fast).
Doing this has almost solved my clogs

And then if/when they do (usually towards the end of the gram) I have a small tool I made from some stainless safety wire. This goes in and very carefully spun around, reclaim sticking to it. This helps for awhile

Even my ccell powered cart bought from a licensed dispensary and is legit has had mini clog ups. Cant puff back to back without a small clog. I just consume more oil per puff due to tolerance. I prefer dry herb vaping if plausible. However some CDT carts do smack but raise tolerance for a couple of days. Clogs happen if I hit it back to back.
