Portable Dry Herb Vapes Vs Ball Vapes

Is a baller head a specific type of head?

I see so many options when looking at the ZX lol

You just need to select your region (US or EU) to ensure the electronics are the right voltage.

You're already at "squeaky clean" with the TM2 for vapor path, especially if you use it with water. Ball vape will have more power and keeps the metal heating coil out of the airpath, but something else has to be the heat matrix, like ruby.

If you're a light user ball vape will be overkill unless you get into mostly rocking it for CBD/CBG hemp. And it's great for that, too!

Lately been seeing everyone moving towards ball vapes and had a few general ququestions.
Hi! I will relate my experience. Take from it what you will.

I quit combustion two years ago by buying a Pax. The taste was OK, but the experience lacked punch.

Then I bought an Arizer Air Max which I occasionally still use. The taste is quite good. And more importantly the vapor has a bigger punch even though not much herb is used. I use a bent stem with little "nubs" for cooling.

Finally, I bought a Pinch Hitter ball vape and run it through a water piece, either a Mega Cube with a whip or a 10" beaker bong. It will blast me with vapor when the controller is set to anything above 500f. I run it at 560f. A TINY amount of herb will do the trick... in fact, I have to be a little careful! And the taste is great (very customizable too).

Good luck!

Hello everyone,

Happy new year!

So I was never really a combustion smoker in the past besides the casual joint sharing at a party.

Once vaporizers become more popular I started with a Pax. Then went for a mighty plus. Then most recently purchased at Tinymight 2 Purple Heart.

- pax was great for starting out and honestly no real complaints at all.

- mighty plus was a game changer for me when it came to vapor quality, I could dramatically tell the difference between this and the pax. I’ll be honest mighty got me with the whole medical approved device stuff lol (I know that smoking in general is not healthy, but like most of us we are trying to find the healthiest/cleanest way to do it)

- Recently got the Tinymight 2 Purple Heart and it’s been an absolute beast of a machine for me. Great taste profile (mighty always gave me a small sense of plastic taste for some reason even at the lower temps I consume with which was generally 350f-375f. I use the Tinymight exclusively at level 5 on the dial. Really enjoy everything about the Tinymight and simply feel better enjoying it through glass stems or a WPA through my Mobius matrix. Feels “cleaner” and significantly better taste.

Lately been seeing everyone moving towards ball vapes and had a few general questions.

1. Are ball vapes generally a cleaner air path for vaping than the portables such as a Tinymight? I see that these ball vapes generate very high temps compared to portables vapes. I was recently looking at the screwball/pinch hitter or Elev8 SSV since it has a lot of glass.

2. I have a pretty low tolerance as I limit myself to only smoking on the weekends generally a bowl or two at night at lower temps with my mighty or Tinymight. Do these ball vapes only operate at these insane temps? Does this not produce vapor closer to combustion? Or is it that the heater itself is at a higher temp and the actual flower is not being cooked at the temp set on the heating element?

3. I see that many use rubies to contain the heat, are these safe to be heated and in the air path?

As a very casual late night weekend smoker, should I just stick to my Tinymight? Or is a ball vape a better option and “cleaner” air path for vaping?

Looking forward to all your responses and suggestions and insights.

Thanks everyone!
I agree that a ball vape might be overkill for a casual user. A log vape, on the other hand, might appeal to you.

When I had to make a decision between a ball vape or a log vape for my first desktop way back, I ended up getting a Couchlog which is a hybrid of both types of vapes. It's a log that also contains balls to assist with heat retention.

I love this thread as I am in about the same place as the OP. I’m running a TM2 and have been eyeing the phase 3 ZX. I use small amounts mostly around the weekends and share with my partner almost all of the time. We also are quite mobile around the house partaking in the hot tub, on the couch, or while cooking dinner. The TM2 has worked really well for this. If/when the ZX becomes wireless maybe it will be time for us, but I struggle with the need for a ball vape to have a station of sorts. Also there is the hot metal sitting around…but I bet it is amazing and I’m watching the ZX thread with envy and the responses here have cemented it as a good choice if ever it begins to make sense for me.

I strongly prefer wireless ball vapes to their wired predecessors, but you do still need a little heating station. Both of mine pack up quite easily but it has to be cooled down etc.

There are much more compact setups than mine but this one is nicely self-contained
