I to one of those xing lighters by mistake the othe day. Great apart from the plastic adjustment ring broke on the first fill. You can still adjust it but need a screwdriver or something similar.

I've had the best luck with the little torch that's sold with the Vapman vaporizer. I haven't found that exact model anywhere else. It was $10 + shipping and you can pick one up on ebay right now for $14 with free shipping(search for vapman torch on ebay and you'll find it.)

Over the course of the many years I was a cig smoker I had a number of very nice name brand lighters but always tended to go back to my Zippo. While not having a lot of cache it just did the job efficiently and reliably. Many lighters that cost 10 times as much worked only a fraction as well.

I am finding similarly that many of the best torches I have found were among the least expensive. I have a dozen or so now and the ones I like best were all under $10. I think the best looking one I have, which also feels best in my hand is the Zico T-38

That doesn't mean that any of the "nicer" ones are crap, I'm sure some are fine. But you don't HAVE to spend a lot to get a good one. The last ones I included are available for under $5 delivered from Amazon.

I just got this torch to use with my Daisy and pending Lily and it is a huge upgrade over the stock one that comes with Daisy:

Stands up by itself, except is a bit wobbly and will fall over if bumped.

Well worth the $10.59+free shipping I paid on ebay, I got mine here. They shipped me a blue one instead of the black, but it's still a great looking lighter and even better in the function dept. It's from China and took 12 days to reach me on the East Coast of the US.

Have only had it a few days, but the quality is obvious, my only question is how much butane does it consume over time, hopefully it is conservative.

I can highly recommend this torch, especially for Daisy (and I imagine, Lily) owners.

Edit: have one big CON for this, there is no window to see how much butane remains in the tank, but if you can deal with that, it is an excellent product.

I'm just using a can of "Xican" premium butane that I got at a tobacco shop. No idea if it is quality or not, it does not list on can as being 14X or 5x filtered like some on FC suggest. However, this butane has given me no problems whatsover, produces a nice steady clean flame as far as I can tell. I've used it in the Jobon (again, just a great torch), the stock Daisy "Power" torch, and a chef's creme brulee type torch that I use on a quartz banger on the rare occasion I dab.

Reminds me I am running low and need to go get more bute, hopefully I have enough to ride out the storm coming here tonight.

Well, I have a "why not" now. Last time I ordered one of these it was shipped from inside the US and only took a couple days. This time it is coming from China (by boat presumably) and will be a month or more. If it comes through the West Coast, who knows when it will get here. At least, unlike with DX, I am confident it will GET here, but who knows when...

Edit: OK, I found another from a US shipper, so if you want to order and get this fast, order from Amazon vendor Bubble Star, not from Louisa Store. I don't know that there is anything WRONG with Louisa Store, they re just shipping from China. They are only a few pennies apart in price...

Both of these orders have arrived. Even the one from China took just over 2 weeks, the closer less than 1 week.

So, I have been looking closely lately at the burning behavior of several of my torches. For the most part they burn cleanly with blue flame. Often, however, there are flashes of yellow from all of them, particularly when the flame meets a surface like the metal plate of my Lotus. I use high quality multifiltered butane so it SHOULDN'T be a purity issue, though even with the multi filtered stuff purity may play a role.

Does the carbon flame suggest unburned gas in that moment? Is this from a lack of oxygen due to the proximity of the flame to the surface? There is nothing on the surface of the lotus to burn off unless it is material that has come from the constant hit of the torch. And there is no visible soot like with a bic.

Questions about refilling a torch lighter with butane: Sorry I'm a newbie at filling a lighter. This is my first time. I watched several videos and I have a good idea, but there were a couple questions/scenarios that weren't clearly answered after watching 4 different videos about refilling a butane lighter.

• Can you go ahead and top off a lighter with more of the same butane (Colibri). It's halfway full or 1/3 full of colibri butane. I know you are supposed to purge it of the air/propellant by pushing down on the valve, that would leave the rest of the butane in there. Should I wait for it to be spent before filling? I don't want to have to purge it and waste butane...

• I have another butane torch lighter that I bought that came with some fuel in it (probably some cheap stuff), is it okay to fill it with a different butane to top it off with Colibri? Is it bad to mix? Do I have to purge it of it's fuel? Should I just wait till I use up all the present butane and then fill it?

You *can* but the problem is you'll end up with a bubble of air and you won't be able to fully "fill" the torch. If you do this too many times without a full purge, you could end up with a bubble so huge you can only fill 10% of the original volume!

Depends on the torch. If your torch is working with the cheap stuff, I would use that up until it's depleated and then do a full purge (to get rid of the aforementioned bubble), and go from there

I jsut wanted to chime in that i recently started using the vapman torch you get with their vape, and it's a damn fine little torch. I use it with my, gn0me, daisy and lily too

Tough to tell. But as long as the torch works and doesn't sputter out on you. I wouldn't worry about it! The only reason to purge is to hold more butane and to increase reliability/performance. If something works, why mess with it!?

If you *REALLY* need to, you can try to "burp" the bubble out. But it's not really necessary (and a waste of butane).

Just wait until you run out of butane, and then fully PURGE the torch.

My Vapman torch has an integrated plastic cylinder around the fill port which significantly limits the amount that it can be purged. They must be filled upside-down and it is impossible to bleed off the last 1/2" or so of the tank.

This is a minor irritation and other than that, I really like the Vapman torch. It is a slightly larger volume version of the Honest torch that shipped with the Lotus. The torch looks, works and feels the same as an Honest (obviously made by the same company) and seems of a higher quality than other cheaper torches I have tried.

Amazon reviews for Vector say they've changed their formula and it's not good anymore and I've heard similar things I think here on FC but can't remember exactly where, it was awhile ago. I got collibri recently, can't find much negative comment about it out there and it's working decent so far in my torches.

Really enjoyed Vector back in the day when they were just 5x filter now all of their cans say 14x and I have found them not to be as great as the old cans I got in 2012 so now I just settle with Newport 5x.

I'm having some issues with my vapman lighter and I'm seeking some help.

I went to use the vapman lighter today and found my flame to be shorter and fatter. Did not have the usual internal secend blue flame either.

I tried adjusting the flame with the dial on the bottom, which just made the flame bigger but still had very fat and stout characteristics, not the normal flame.
So my next move was to purge the fluid from the tank.

And thats where im stuck. Everything looks normal from the outside as far as I can see but I don't really know anything about torch lighters.

Any suggestions for trouble shooting and any help and info is greatly appreciated.

I can't have the vapman out of commission for too long.... thats a staple to my the vape rotation.

Have you tried a different butane? Sounds like it could be clogged, or you need to 'burp' the air out (turn it over, and quickly press the refill hole with a toothpick to get a little air out - just until butane starts spewing out - try that a few times until you've gotten all the air out - see if that helps
