Hey everyone -
New to vaping and to this forum, but I've been cruising around here for the last couple days trying to get this thing figured out. I'm hoping someone here might be so kind as to help answer a couple questions -- or at least give me an idea of whether I'm headed in the right direction or not. I've done a lot of research on vaping, and I've pieced together quite a bit of info which has helped. But there are still a couple things I'm not quite getting -- please bear with me here...
For background, I'm a daily MMJ smoker (pipes) -- just now entering the world of vaping. I really want stop with combustion altogether for health reasons. So I just purchased an Eclipse Vape, and, as far as I can tell, I'm doing everything "correctly" as I've seen on YouTube and read about. But I still can't tell if I'm even vaping much... or at least, certainly not to the potential of this unit.
I know that dry herbs are not ideal for this unit, but it's all I've ever known and haven't dealt with oils or concentrates at all. So that's what I'm trying to run through the Eclipse.
1. It doesn't seem like I'm even getting any vapor, either collecting in the vial or when I exhale. Shouldn't I be able to clearly see some vapor? Only a couple times have I've seen anything resembling vapor - looked just like a little condensation near the top of the vial. Sometimes it feels "sort of" like I'm getting a hit, but I can't really see anything when I exhale. I've tried holding in hits and not holding in hits very long - same result. I'm not combusting it - I can tell that much -- as the herb turns from green to the typical shades of brown gradually. And, there's no cough for me at all. I've read all these people saying how it made or can make them cough really bad, etc., and I'm not getting that at all. There's nothing to cough at, it feels. So I'm wondering if the Eclipse Vape is just a lame device for someone trying out vaping without spending a ton at first.
2. I'm really surprised at how mild the high is. Is that normal for vaping? Actually makes me think that I'm not getting the full effect. It's almost like it's barely there, imho. I've read that some people feel they don't get as high. And I know that the high is different -- more clean, etc. But I almost feel like what I'm experiencing is even milder than that. There really isn't a substantial high for me. So that, along with #1, got me thinking that I must be missing something or not doing something right.
I've tried the unit 4 times now, and each time I get the same result (except for one hit where I actually did see a little vapor... out of maybe 25-30 hits). And I wasn't feeling anything that substantial even after taking like 5-8 hits in a shot. I mean, I felt the slight presence of the herb, but that was about it.
I've been following all the recommendations I've read (wherever possible); Grinding up the herb, paying attention to flame placement/proximity, drawing slowly, heating air above the plant matter first, etc. So I'm stumped.
I am thinking about picking up the MFLB. It looks like it's more along the lines of what I had in mind - in terms of creating some visible vapor. Is this a better portable choice for dry herbs given my experience so far? And could this maybe provide something closer to the experience I was after in the first place? Because this has been a bit of a let down so far.
Big thanks in advance for any enlightenment offered
