Get Ripped With Just a Pinch

Intro Message

What's up FC!

Cal here, the founder of Vapvana. I'm excited to introduce the Pinch Hitter to y'all. After spending 10+ iterations refining our diffuser + bowl connection, we are excited to use that R&D to expand our ecosystem and offer a more affordable option to our flagship product - the Screwball.

I have some ideas for a contest that will be launching soon - until then let's hop into the details below

Overview:

The Pinch Hitter is designed to maximize clouds and flavor with small amounts of flower (.05 -.1g of ground herb / 1 mini scoop). We also took into consideration the price point, and made decisions to make this (anti) ball vape as affordable as possible.

What’s the difference between the Pinch Hitter and the Screwball?

OMG OMG so I will be getting a screwball in a few weeks then will be getting this by the looks of things :D

@AndyO have you seen this??

Thanks for the tag man, I hadn't seen this thread/announcement.

I love that they're producing a cheaper/more accessible version that doesn't seem like a massive downgrade on the Screwball, I think it's going to be a product that is super easy for them to market and sell at this price - but it is still a downgrade, so probably not something I'll be buying, especially with the Screwball microdose bowl on the way.

Like that you’ve put together a very nice “beginner” setup. If I hadn’t already gotten and fallen in love with my Screwball this would probably be what I would choose as it is less expensive and leans more toward single hit extraction which I’ve come to prefer. Really looking forward to the updated bowls and the Big League Bubbler.

Seems overkill with how much heat mass it uses. I see the ZX as thr ultimate ball vape microdoser. Not just because of the small bowl, but because it's using a 16mm coil, and has less mass in the heater. This allows comfortable use with just a dry j-hook, while having more than enough calories to crush small loads in a quick snap.

This is something other manufacturers are struggling to fathom. It's not just the size of the bowl that matters if you want to tune towards small doses. You need to ditch the excess heat mass. I don't want to need to use a large water piece just to vape 0.10g, because I'm inhaling excess heat from the amount of rubies.

Hey y'all! I've been busy with the holiday week + getting ready for a trip to Colorado this weekend, so I haven't had a change to record more content yet.

Let's hop into answering your questions so far, and I'll update y'all with more content soon

Full vs Micro Hybrid Bowls

Looks sweet! Is the bowl different than the Screwball bowl, and if so are they interchangeable at all?
Both the full and micro hybrid bowls have the same Outer Diameter - so both the Pinch Hitter & Screwball heaters will work with any bowl.

The main difference is the Internal Diameter (15mm vs 20mm) and how that impacts the volume (how much herb it holds) and consumption experience.

Pinch Hitter Design Principles

What lead to your decision to bump up the gem size for the pinch hitter? I'm assuming you started at 2.5mm?
One of the reasons we were able to use 2.5mm gems in the Screwball is because it uses a 25mm coil. Because the Pinch Hitter uses a 20mm coil, the 3mm gems provide a more balanced airflow compared to using the smaller 2.5mm (it's a little too restrictive).

The goal with the Screwball was to make the strongest heater possible, capable of vaping up to ~.4g of ground herb.

Since the micro hybrid bowl holds less herb (up to ~.15g of ground herb), it doesn't require as strong of a heater to vape that amount in one hit. For the general / average consumer, this is plenty for them, and we can offer that experience a more affordable

Pinch Hitter Target Market

The Pinch Hitter is designed to be an easy and affordable option for the more common cannabis consumer. If you know about these dry herb vape communities already, then you're probably not who this product is intended for.

However, I've also realized people have smaller tolerances than myself, which is why having a microdose option is important.

No PID Kits?

Looks great, Cal! Will you also sell an EA kit without the PID? I'd love to try this out!
Since our goal is to provide the best out of box experience for first time ball vape / DHV users, we've decided not to offer any kits without PIDs at this time.

If you already own a Screwball, I'd recommend using a micro bowl instead.

Got one on the way with the Big Hitter bubbler, thanks for making these available Cal.
Cheers
Did the same yesterday!
Thank you both for the early support! @4-Aces King-High @Zagala

@Zuhdj send us a message with your email and we will send you an invoice for the pinch hitter at the early adopters price, and you can complete it come the 27th

Seems overkill with how much heat mass it uses.
Technically using the Screwball with the micro bowl could be considered 'overkill' - however the Pinch Hitter was designed to hold only enough gems to vape a smaller amount of herb (~.1g of herb instead of ~.4g)

I see the ZX as thr ultimate ball vape microdoser. Not just because of the small bowl, but because it's using a 16mm coil, and has less mass in the heater.
We tested the Screwball design in a 16mm version, and it didn't work compared to the 25mm version (the airflow was too restrictive).

Since the goal was to recreate a low temp dab (not be a one hit extraction / bowl snap), we found from our testing that by having more media / volume filled with gems, it allowed for lower operating temps on the PID.

The increased amount of gems / media allows for lower operating temps on the PID, and a more consistent stream of heated air. When you use 3mm balls (have less volume filled) you have to run hotter coils temps to compensate.

I don't want to need to use a large water piece just to vape 0.10g, because I'm inhaling excess heat from the amount of rubies.
Our new hybrid bowl design has removable glass joints, so you can easily choose which size rig is best for you. From our testing, the Pinch Hitter has worked well on 10mm dab rigs all the way up to 18mm bubblers like highlighted in the demo video.

100 Day Guarantee & Lifetime Warranty

The Pinch Hitter is also covered under our lifetime warranty and 100 day guarantee. So if you're not sure if it's the right choice for you, give it a try and you can still return it within 100 days of receiving it.

Remaining Kits

There's about ~9 US kits left and 2 International Kits left. After these sell out, they won't be available until the next round of production begins after receiving the early adopters feedback.

Next Update

I'd like to get more demo videos for y'all next week, so if you have any specific requests let me know. Otherwise I look forward to getting this in your hands within the next 2-3 weeks

I would like a video of a one hit extraction, with just enough herb to cover the screen on a j-hook.

Is it possible to swap out the gems? Could I use balls instead of gemcut stones if I found airflow too restrictive?

The reason I'm gettin one is to have an experience similar to the screw ball with a smaller bowl. I already have the smaller screwball bowl coming in. Will this much of a different experience from that?

The Vapvana Pinch Hitter has transitioned the ball vape covered wagon industry from a DIY, fringe
market into a solid refined product for anyone. This extraction method is so different from my
RBT and Roffu vapes. I can give smaller pulls on my Grav STAX bubbler and instantly fills up with
fewer bubbles and have concentrated vapor hits on tap. It hit's fast Like my BSS flame powered
vape. The air restriction on my standard battery on demand vapes is to high for me. The Pinch
Hitter provides wide open rapid flash vapor production like a heat gun and glass bong bowl
adapter combo without all the fan forced air. The Titanium Bowl and Wand are the best I have seen.
I get a feeling of confidence that the heater's precision fitting is around the bowl rim. It has a non
slip feet padded heater stand to rest on. Vapvana has cured my VAS. I dab my herb now basically so
it tastes better then my regular vapes. It tastes as good as it smells. This is the future of Micro
Dosing with the ease of use that kicks up hit potency. No more Dynavap CCD, basket screens
and stem cleaning. I load a SQP full into the bowl and It instantly heats to perfection. The brush
cleans the screen, reload and blast off again. My artisan vapes now sit on my Marley wood tray
like relics from a former era. This kit has everything you need for a quality and fairly priced full
herbal experience that provides instant dense sips or massive rips. Try it you'll like it.

What's it like on a j-hook though? I'm not buying a "microdoser" that needs a large bong.

I received my pinch hitter yesterday and did some testing….

Really like the efficiency of this device it is the same as the zx in terms of efficiency. The hits are more powerful than the zx with the same efficiency if that makes sense.

Ultimately would love an option to just purchase the screwball heater that way I can go back in forth between heaters

Hey RedZep I used the Pinch Hitter on my J hook and the hit really smacked me silly. The 20mm
heater works better on my bigger 14mm socket glass steamroller & Pinch Hitter combo because
it collects the dense pulls as it cools in the glass with the least amount of draw resistance. I have to be
mindful of the heater being closer to my hands using a J hook. While in my Vapvana Nirvana high :) it can
be tricky while hitting. The J hook positioning is concerning while heating I need to on the fly adjust
the bowl seating, while holding still I hit the bowl and it blows my doors in. I am to close to the heater for my taste. With a bigger
glass piece I can get behind it and roll with the puff the magic dragon intense dry pulls it cranks out.

The Screwball's comfortable on a V1 Xeric. I assume it is with most cooling-enhanced j-hooks.

So update after a few days of use, the roast of the material is un even for me when i just place the heater over the bowl without holding the handle. The weight of the coil and handle slightly tilts the fit of the head and bowl resulting an uneven roast. The fix is easy which is holding the handle and making sure the heater and bowl have a complete seal. When completely sealed the pinch hutter is a face melter! I did take the coil guard off which made it easy for me to see how it slightly fits uneven…fix is simple though..just hold the handle .

Tried to ask them if i can just purchase a screwball head and was told no….

When I set up my Pinch Hitter my heat shield was not allowing me a clear view
of the complete seal on the bowl during heating. I changed the position of the shield
so I can verify the rimmed connections are complete. By loosening the hex screws
I raised up the heat shield a little. Then I secured the front screw on the side of the
coil shaft so the screw sticks out a little when securing it to the handle. The bottom
of the heater is now slightly more visible. The small lip on the heater can be seen
meeting the bowl's lip. I get ruby gem stoned with an intense airy rush that roast my
herb for Pinch Hitting one bowl out of the park :) This Vapvana product never ceases
to amaze me.
