How would you like you see bowl makers do it @Haze Mister ?

I posted in the injector bowl thread... of course I am always being tongue in cheek when i comment on other people's choices being different!

Basically, handles get in the way, and break. The bowl will not get too hot if it is thick or double wall construction. I have managed OK by just grabbing the bowl from the very bottom when it is usually not too hot to touch, and I use a torch-fired injector.... I recently added 4 silicone o-rings around my handle-less 19/14 adapter bowl and that made it easier to handle. I also like holding a symmetrical cylinder in my hands without things sticking out , and I torch my injector attached to the loaded bowl sitting on my bubbler, so I need to rotate the bowl to get the injector evenly hot... so a handle is particularly awkward.

I do like the look of the Herborizer bowls- the 14mm version has been sitting in a tab on my browser for a while but I am not sure about the glass stone and how the airflow will be. This is in my search for a solution to the "geting the screen to sit in a 14mm bowl" problem.

It's funny how we're all different! I did see your post in the other thread, and I like it. Not sure how expensive the 2 inner grooves will be to make but hopefully you'll make it work.

My z8 bowl is the first one I've had with a handle! (I'll be looking it for more) Despite the fact it's a little low I really like using it. I tend to blow the bowl out as if it is a TM stem to keep it cleaner for longer, and the handle makes this a little easier being able to spin it in the vertical axis, especially when the bowl is hot. I would like to try a Maria where the ID of the adapter is maintained though.

It's a bulge created by pushing a tube while heating it. You will see them on adapters and bowls often. Also they are good for straws and carb caps.

They are sometimes called a Mariah or even heard them called a ring.

^^that, but, iirc, it doesn't have to be a bulge, like the grav upline, those pinch points can also be called marias I think. It's just the name of the technique of pushing together a heated tube.

I tried Auber but they said there is little demand so they discontinued them. They said they could put in a special order to their factory but it is minimum order of 50 pieces, I don’t need that many haha.

Would prefer to avoid aliexpress.

My z8 underwent surgery this morning for a ruby replacement. 3mm -> 4mm. I picked up some 1/2" titanium screens. Not sure what mesh, but they are more open than the stocker. She is doing fine in recovery and maintaining a temperature of 500 degrees. She'll be undergoing additional tests throughout the days ahead.

Excellent news!! I'm expecting copious physical therapy to make sure her motor skills are staying coordinated

I actually use 4MM myself - But I could get something to bridge that 3MM to 4MM gap (no it's not 3.5MM beads )
I'll order a few.

I like the idea of more open screens, I'd be willing to try that too.
I'm thinking potentially, the bowl screens probably need to either be more fine OR more open to help keep the corners cleaner (does a circle have corners?)

Yes definitely interested in 18mm jointed bowl as most of my glass is 18. Cheers, can’t wait to try the SX

Re: Handles - The adapters I get made are pretty low profile so the handle gives you something to grab onto. Also as I've said recently I like to use it to push off of with a finger if anything seizes up. Though I don't really experience much sticking with my Z8 when I use it, I know other people get it a bit more. As I said once I have friends who get my Z8 to stuck every time they use it, which I haven't totally figured out lol.

I like the idea of an ambidextrous handle though, and I've got some ideas on novel ways to implement that, which maybe I'll try to do on my next round of glass parts coming after the SX glass lands.

The custom Z8 bowl has most of these ideas already integrated, along with a few other cool things. Obviously the Z bowl is not going to be super cheap as it's pretty advanced (for a bowl at least!) but I would like to get a few in soon for evaluation. Ideally I'd like to get the next round of Z8's started first, but we'll see! Business things are coming along to get more Z8's going, though I'm still waiting on some banking stuff.

Main goal for right now is to get these SX's sent out soon! Still waiting on glass and rubies for those. A little behind on the rubies due to CNY. Housings are already here.

Good question! I know a bunch of people were running 110V setups and putting on an adapter down range on the PID controller, rather than getting all the 220V specific setups.

I’m so stoked you folks are looking forward to this upcoming SX and more Z8’s! I’ve been getting a lot of comments lately from people excited about the efficiency of my gear. I know a lot of other ball vape “injectors” have a reputation for flying through material so I’m excited for people to see how fuel efficient these can be.

Like @Grass Yes said, reach out to Shane @710Coils he will be able to hook you up for sure, I’m running a 220v Z8 right now thanks to him. I’ve bought all my coils from him for ~5 years and cannot recommend him enough. He’s another longtime FC member whose business grew organically out of his passion and desire for quality bangers and coils.

So y’all, I’ve seen a render of inverted’s Z8 bowl design and can happily report that he is so much smarter than I am and has considered every little detail concerning the premium Z8 experience. And it looks SO much better! Where my drawing was based on my limited experience of glass bowls, inverted really understands what’s possible with zirconia ceramic and has taken advantage of all that with his unique design. Of course it’s early days and he’s got lots going on so I’m sure it will be some time before there’s a product but it is so exciting to know that day will indeed come!

Anybody have a good starting point temp for hash? Got some old-school from India and Pakistan that I’ve not tried with Z8 yet

It should be about 100 3MM. That's what they will be coming with.
4MM is like half of that, 40-50.
Not sure on 2.5? Probably around 200?

Let’s talk about coil handles for a sec. I’ve been using a walnut coil handle that iDB made for me to go with the Atlas handle, it’s figured grain and it’s gorgeous, he does beautiful work and his communication throughout is excellent, the whole process was a pleasure. Another old-school FC dude, super cool and honest; he’s mainly on his cloud_connoisseur account on IG. There will be a wait, since handles are custom and he‘s a one-man shop, but he’s definitely worth the wait.

I really like dfreeze(sp?) wood handles too, they use all sorts of species and also do these fancy stone inlays. They keep some handles in stock at their online store so you can get immediate gratification and they have a process to order exactly what you want, if that’s the way you want to go. I know a few people that have these and all have nothing but great things to say about the handles or the dfreeze guys.

However, the coil handle I’m really looking forward to is the Phase3 coil handle! I cannot even imagine what inverted’s come up with but I’m here for it. You know it’s going to compliment the Z8 heater & bowl and I wonder what the material will be? It’s good to have important things on the horizon to look forward to!

I’ve got a confession and I hope you all won’t judge too harshly. You see, I went a bit consumer-mad for the last couple of years. Did a lot of online retail therapy for desktop synthesizer toys, vape gear and honestly, entirely too much glass for one person. So this year, I’m only buying flower & Z8 stuff and going to focus on enjoying all the cool stuff I acquired during my multi-year anxiety attack.

Still, 2023 is still gonna be ultra-mega dope for me with the bowl & coil handle coming down the road. Which is really convenient, since basically inverted’s killed any interest in another home vape, the least he could freakin’ do is make some badass accessories that I can’t live without! Just sayin’, he is directly responsible for this current state of affairs. That’s a reasonable viewpoint, right?
