Thanks for the notice. Not sure how I missed it. Must have been a busy week!

This is amazing in my mind. As little as two years ago the guys who got this off the ground were the whack balls of the senate. I've been highly skeptical the whole time, so if they sign off, I'll be more than happy to be currently living in a modestly-reasonable-mided state. I had also been caught off by the restriction that cannabis would not be dispensed for 'smoking.' Then I read this link and said 'duh.'

While the Keystone State’s first dispensary held its grand opening on Jan. 27, 2018, it didn’t have medical marijuana available for patients to purchase, but now the wait to buy products from Pennsylvania medical marijuana dispensaries is almost over. Starting on Feb. 15, and progressing through the week, six of the 10 currently approved dispensaries will open with products available for patients to purchase.​

A state medical marijuana advisory board voted Monday to recommend allowing dried leaf marijuana into the market.

Pennsylvania Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine must decide whether to accept the recommendation for it to become statewide policy.

Levine chaired the advisory board meeting, which voted 11-0 in favor of allowing "dry leaf or plant form for administration by vaporization." One board member abstained from the vote.

The board also recommended that people be allowed to use medical marijuana as a treatment for opioid addiction. Six members voted for that recommendation, while four members opposed it and two abstained.

The medical marijuana law does not require additional legislative action beyond Levine's determination, state Health Department spokeswoman April Hutcheson said. Levine has up to a year to make a final decision on the board's recommendations......​

The list of approved recommendations is astounding, really. I mean this is PA. The med program it put in place was laughable, from approved ailments to approved forms of cannabis to how they dispensed the meds. I mean if an opioid was a pharma-approved treatment then cannabis was not an allowable treatment. That they made the logical, necessary (and dare I say progressive?) corrections that they did so soon after they opened up for business is a very positive and very unanticipated sign.

Medical marijuana expands to leaf form in Pennsylvania

"Pennsylvania Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine on Monday approved a recommendation to allow the sale of medical marijuana in leaf form.

Her decision means Pennsylvanians will soon be able to buy leaf medical marijuana for vaporization. The law forbids residents from smoking it.

"We anticipate dry leaf will be available in dispensaries later this summer," Levine said during a news conference in Harrisburg.

She said dry leaf will most likely be cheaper than other legal forms for patients."

ALSO "Levine also accepted the board's recommendation to allow medical marijuana as a treatment for opioid abuse and agreed to expand the list of qualifying medical conditions from 17 to 21."

It only took one week from the board's, majority, recommendation, to get accepted and starting to implement by the Pa Health Secretary. Great work by the advocacy group and the PA gov't.

So, back in high school, me and my buddies would get high and dream of the future. "Medical weed is taking off!" "More states are getting it" "One day in our lifetime, we can buy weed from the store"

Well, last week, was that day! I don't have my card (I want to buy guns and figure true recreational is right around the corner), but all my friends seem to and, WOW

It's super expensive. Roughly three times as much for flower and double for concentrates/cartridges, but it is honestly SO cool that we can just pick and choose. And all the bud/dabs have been out of this world! I had Slimer OG Live Resin, it was the best, cleanest, purest tasting dab I ever had. Finally can put my SiC nail to good use!

I've also had some various thoughts about MMJ and Recreational MJ as a whole. This stuff is powerful. Strong. And now it's being pushed out by the government.....reminds me of Soma for the masses. Not that I mind, I love weed, but I wonder where we will be in like 40-50 years. The weed is so expensive, but it's soooooo good. I can fully see people not living their lives to the best of their potential and being "satisfied" with the 25% LA Chocolat waiting at home :p I know I was. Just was a high thought I had the other day, as I've noticed my motivation/productivity has decreased in the days after I get legal weed. Been taking lots of naps :lol:

Also, it's somewhat a scam. Lots of people I know just met doctors via Skype......"restless leg syndrome" gets you qualified, $150-$200 and 2 weeks later you can go to the store and buy weed. This just reinforces my "soma for the masses" thought I had as well.

All in all I'm happy we're getting it and happy that full blown legalization is right around the corner. I expected to be middle aged/old man by the time we finally got to this place in PA......wasn't even 10 years, so I figure the recreational will pass sooner than later.
