PD Replacement for med user?

I'm a medical user (no big parties here) looking for the cleanest, safest, easiest use in a discreet package (in that order of importance). I currently use a Volcano (see my comment below), the PD, and a MLFB. I'm fine with the MLFB for now. I'm essentially looking to replace (in use, but probably not literally) the PD and the Volcano. I believe that my first two criteria are self explanatory -- I want clean vapor in terms of content, taste, and everything. Relating to the third, I rarely use my Volcano because I find that it's too much fuss and too noisy, and I'm not a fan of bags. The fourth is the least important, but I like that no one has ever walked into the room and seen the PD and asked, "What's that?" But I'd be willing to sacrifice the fourth factor for the first two. I'm willing to pay for a good unit. What does the esteemed FC crowd recommend? Thanks for your help?

so you are looking to replace your home units.

taste, an clean vapor , that is easy to use, and preferably not look like a pot contraption.

humm I think the SSV/DBV/LSV fit the bill on the first 3 criteria.

I wonder how big of a hit you are looking for? maybe something more like the vapolution 2.0 would be a better fit if you don't need such a heavy hitter though. this one is truly an all glass vapor path.

I recently purchased an Underdog log vape, and the first hit is lovely regarding taste! but most hits after that while still potent, do not have the same flavour anymore. it is a monster hitter too though. I was so surprised a log vape could hit like that.

Abysmal, you're recommending vapes that haven't even been really tested yet.... Persei and Stealth Vape have yet to be independently reviewed.

They could suck. Hopefully not, but we don't know yet.

I have a PD, I got a CRZ and since i got that my PD has pretty much retired. I have used the DBV and the LSV, no where NEAR as clean as far as path and taste and feel goes. So yea, i am recommending the Ceramic RockZap

Yep! Sry i misleaded.. Had to add that.. Anyway Stealth vape as far as i know uses same heat the screen tech as the mflb . So if calculations are done right i don't think it would suck more or less than the mflb ,but yet is to be seen.
Pete Jones,
I would have been better if i just said check out the new line in portables.. :) There must be smth coming for you :) or already out. Do not buy anything without doing a research .. ever :p . Few guys got burned with the Atmos Raw just like their weed :)

Thanks for the responses.

- I'm inclined to continue to use the MLFB until the portable options shake out some more. So, yes, I am looking for a desktop/home unit.

- Your observation about UD is often the case with the PD. That probably is attributable to uneven "cooking." I'd like a unit that hits cleaner throughout.

- About "heavy hitting," I'll say the MLFB is at this point a light for me. I wouldn't mind something stronger than the PD, although I have appreciated the PD's convenience for medical users wanting more certain doses and its efficiency (although I'd sacrifice efficiency for the other factors that I've mentioned). Probably go through no more than a Q evenly spread through a month, if that helps you judge.

- How does the SSV differ from the log vapes, putting aside appearances of course? (Nycdeisel seems to recommend the CRZ over the non-logs.)

- Is there a consensus best log unit for my needs?

- I checked out the SSV website and saw all the glass. Do the glass hookups help produce cleaner/possibly more healthy vapor, or are they more for fun? (Pardon my ignorance. I'm a middle aged, relatively new medical user.)

- Doesn't the Oracle have a pump and bag? I'm not crazy about the Volcano due to the noise and the bag.

- Should I hold out for The Cloud? I've been reading these threads, and there seems to be great excitement about that unit. I realize that there is some uncertainty as to when it will be available. I could either stick with what I have or hop on the Vapolution 2.0 deal or something like that to tide me over.

Thanks for the help! Much appreciated.

The vapo 2.0 deal is a bargain IMO. I'm enjoying testing mine out. For the price it's a nice option to tide you over until the Cloud arrives. SSV's are nice, too. But for less than half the price I'd go with the Vapolution.

the SSV is a really solid vape, I think there is more going on in terms of control using an ssv over a log. and that maight = more fun. (I think it does)

having only used the PD and UD, i can't comment on the CRZ but i can tell you the UD will fit your needs for the most part yes.

I also think maybe the vapo 2.0 might be a great entry point for ya! wont break the bank. should be delicious, and seems to offer up bigger hits than I originally thought possible!

ofthose 3 that i mentioned though I think you will be pretty happy no matter what :)

Water filtration(aka diffusion) not only helps to moisturize and cool the vapor(vapor is often more dry then it is hot) AND to filter out small particles that may come through if there was no water to catch it. It really cuts down on the irritation for some people who need that, so it can be partially for health reasons for some people , but everyone would agree that glass is a lot of fun :)

However, please try to avoid the China glass like that sold by 7th Floor(their water pieces are china glass, NOT the DBV/SSV/LSV wands and glass parts) buy quality American made glass. You can find high end glass all made in the USA at aqualabtechnologies.com, rxindustries.com, and highpriorityglass.com. See the glass section of this site for more info

Nycdeisel,
Pete,

You noted your dislikes regarding the Volcano, but I don't think you mentioned what you don't like about the PD. I'm also currently in the process of (possibly) replacing my PD, so I'm exploring other log vapes as well. If you explain what you don't like about the PD, it will be easier for other users to suggest log vapes that meet your preferences.

It hasn't been mentioned yet, but you should definitely add the HI to your list of log vapes to explore. The main benefits of the HI are:

-variable power supply (which should help you cook your ABV evenly)
-extremely small form factor
-tons of different tube designs to meet various circumstances/needs
-better airflow than the PD (most log vapes share this characteristic at this point, I believe)
-5 minute heat-up time (as opposed to 30+ minutes with most log vapes, even the UD Twigs (which are comparable in size to the HI) take at least 15-20 minutes to heat)

In a head-to-head between the UD Twig and the HI (I haven't used either, so I'm going on product descriptions/FC member reviews), I'm currently favoring the HI because it features so many different stem designs (inside the heat port, outside the heat port, material combinations involving glass, wood, silicone, high-temp plastic, etc.)

Well, I'm also looking for a desktop vape.

Some time ago, the best desktop I could think of was a difficult choice between an SSV and a PD.
I think I would have plumbed for the DBV, the cheaper bro of the SSV, and then decide if it was worth investing in a peacock (SSV).

The Herbalaire was also in my sights.
Its versatility was impressive.
But I get the feeling it's more for the 'sober partygoer', if you know what I mean.

Well anyway, a lot of people are now singing songs about the CRZ and UD.
There seems to be some hardcore vapists who like the CRZ.

Of course, a good person to ask may be someone who already has your vapes and can recommend a better one according to your criteria.
Good hunting.

Thanks for the suggestions and information. Here are some answers to recent questions:

OkComp: What I don't like about the PD. I've loved the PD. It shines with respect to its convenience (I keep mine plugged in), efficiency, looks (in my opinion), and easy, consistent dosing. The first "hit" tastes great, but the following ones often don't. Regardless of my complaints about the Volcano, I really like the pure taste that you can get with it. Partly, I've had the PD for years, and I wouldn't mind trying something new, so I was shooting for purity.

Seems like I'll probably go for an upgraded log, try something like the SSV, or wait for the Cloud. Decisions, decisions.

Pete Jones,
If you're looking for a up'd log I recommend the HI. It tastes better then my UD, and LSV, and reaches a broader spectrum of terpenes then the dog.

Great Scott!
If you want to part with the volcano for a steal let me know. Bag filling is the one style of vape I rarely got to use. I wouldn't mind adding one to my collection, but the cost is INSANE. Even used ones have been too pricy to add to my list of vapes I've owned.

I think those options are all great choices. if you dont want to wait, then id suggest the Log for now, and then get a cloud soon when they come out! Personally i suspect that the cloud will retire a lot of peoples vapes. if my ssv hadnt been confiscated (my at the time almost daily driver), I can see the cloud being the vape to retire the ssv on me. no more need for bong tokes though my whip once that happens.

This might be an obvious answer for some, but what is the appeal for the Cloud, please?

If there are a load of orders for the device before it is actually made or delivered, then clearly there is something I must be missing...

Apart from the internal cooling system, I can't see any other USP for the VXC.

Can't find a youtube vid for it somehow.
I'm sure I saw some vids for it a while back.

I still don't understand why so many have pre-ordered?
Isn't it similar to an EQ?

Woah!
That is a bold claim indeed.

It would be similar to a scientific instrument if the temp gauge is so sensitive!
Very interesting device.

I'll wait for others to test it...

And what's your verdict on the VXC?

I found some vids on youtube (search thread: 'vxc').
There's some guy using the device with different glassware.

I wasn't sure what the vids was for, but the glassware performed well.

i pre ordered over a year ago. I have never gotten to use it yet.

from what ive seen read and heard, I think its going to be the next vape that raises the bar for all vapes in the future.

Over a year?
Have you had to put down a deposit at all?

There is an entry for the thing on Vaporpedia.
Apparently, they were ready to 'ship units until approximately the end of the year'.
So I think that entry may need updating since were are at the second month of a new year.

The article also states that one of the masterminds behind the scheme 'constantly daydreams of different ways to increase and enhance the vapor experience'.
Lol! That's what I do too when I'm on FC!
So it's nice to know I'm not crazy or anything!

They've also arranged for a lot of glassware to be produced too!
So it'll be great to use them once the vaporiser has actually been made.
It looks like a tiny water dispenser.
But i think it will 'dispense' THC much better! Lol!
Soon.
