Paypal and vaporizer

Hello,

I'm currently buying a vaporizer through FC, but when I've sent the payment I wrote on the description that the purchasing is related to a vaporizer.

Sound pretty dumb, but I wasn't aware of Paypal policy with vaporizer :/

What do you think is better:
1) ask for a refund and loose the 20$ Paypal fees
2) or keep going with the actual payment (with vaporizer word on the description) ?

Apparently they can block the account and keep the fees...

Any feedback or advices ?

I don't understand, why can't you buy it without calling it a vaporizer?? Why is the only choice to cancel the order...? It doesn't matter what you put in the description of PayPal normally so why would you or they have to put vaporizer, say aromatherapy

From what I gather from the op, I think they could have put something other than 'vaporizer' but didn't realise this would cause them any issue at the time - so they sent the payment & now they are worried as they probably can't edit the description since it's been sent.

Personally, I would take my chances & continue with the transaction - vaporizer suppliers use PayPal here in the UK so I have bought many vapes this way. Idk for sure in your situation though, & of course it's your call, but that has been my experience.

From a quick google search Apparently PayPal can suspend your account (most likely the seller's) for 180 days if you use the word "vaporizer" in a transaction. I am unsure if this is a fact or not, or is completely random about per PayPal's terms. But OP accidentally put "vaporizer" in the description instead of saying something else. I think UK doesn't have same mail vape ban issues going on as the US currently? I can't speak on that for sure though. I'm actually the seller, and I'm the one concerned because I can't afford to have my Paypal account suspended. On the other hand if I were to issue a refund now to try again using different language in description , it could take weeks to 30 days to post back to the buyers account. This is an international transaction as well, if that might factor in in any way to Paypal caring.

Descriptions totally matter,. I make knives, sheaths and holsters and I 've had PayPal block transactions with the words knife sharpening and Damascus in the the description not to mention holster.

Sorry I meant, why would it matter to the buyer or seller, put aromatherapy instead of vaporizer if you have to put something. But I didn't realize it was already done

It's likely that PayPal will only take action if one of you complain about the transaction and demand a refund. Just keep going at this point. If you are concerned you should pull any balance out asap.

Did you make the same mistake as OP? I assume there is only a problem if it gets flagged by PayPal.

Yuuuuup. Tomorrow at 6 is hour 72, which is how long my notification said it might take.

I'm a complete dumb ass and wrote a little invoice in the message, AND put a bit about me being anal retentive so I rounded up by a dollar.

Which got flagged? The itemized list or the anal?!

Seems weird. Vaporizers are a common name for humidifiers. Just send paypal a message saying it's a Vicks Vaporizer for your bedroom and you use VapoPads and VapoSteam for allergies. Might be worth mentioning to Vicks the company that PayPal is blocking their items from being sold.

I didn't use the term vaporizer, but I did make an itemized list with my address. I really think the word anal got me flagged lmao

If the product is not affiliated with tobacco or vape as such (consumer electronic products) is this a problem? a lot of online stores don't offer paypal anymore, yet I still buy vaporizers (to avoid naming brands) and other accessories via paypal, how come? I'm a vapoteur of eliquid and in my country only a few online stores still offer the paypal payment method, what's really going on? others mentioning paypal's refusal to be affiliated vaping equipment .. Will these companies be blocked at some point? What do you recommend? is there another reliable alternative? Why do some stores still offer paypal without any particular problem? what's the trick?

This is mostly about appearances. Paypal doesn't want to be associated with any bad press regarding vapes, cannabis or lung disease of any kind. They don't want to spend money or work at banning vapes, they want to make a token effort so they have a policy and some actions they can point to. They will start regulating this more strictly in future if there is bad press, otherwise they will likely let it continue as is. Worry about alternative payment methods when they become necessary.

In the past PP has held funds from sellers, they are really notorious for this, if you can take the risk and make sure not to leave any money in your PP account ever then you can get by perhaps selling paraphernalia and using PP payment processing until they finally stop you like they have for almost everyone else
