IMO if you are commenting on vapor quality you are a connoisseur. And in your situation the Arizer is a better choice. However you don't HATE the pax it just doesn't fit your needs.

Then i guess i am.

But then, all those other mega-conoisseurs don't hate the PAX either, they just don't fit their needs. :whoa:

vorrange,
On this board, sure. On some of the other boards I've read there are quite a few Solo Nazis out there trying to convince people that the pax is actually the devil. I understand and agree that the specs for the solo make it a better vaporizer overall. However, my main goal is to get as lifted as possible, as discreetly as possible, in locations that may not be my home. I'm willing to sacrifice some of the accuracy of a device like a solo for even more portability and ease of use and that has lead me here. Just wanted to let people know that it exceeded my expectations greatly.

Yup, turtle hit the nail on the head:

The most effect, in the least space, with true portability.

Yes you do load a lot for the best effect, but it's analogous to rolling a joint every now and then. Sure it's a bit wasteful, and the flavor suffers pretty quickly, but it's extremely effective and satisfying and because you can just prepare it and than set out for an adventure anywhere! It can offer big sesh's in places that you'd never dreamt of before...

So yes, not a good 24/7 vape unless you have ounces, but as a "treat yourself" powerful vape that can be used anywhere, it is pretty damn effective!

The Pax is my daily driver and I love it. It's not a "science project" to get high, it is ready to hit in 30-45 seconds, as opposed to over a minute and a half or more for other vapes, and has gotten me away from combustion completely. I am fairly new to vaping and was going to buy a SSV as a backup. But then, I wouldn't be able to walk around the house or my yard, vaping as I do other things. I don't want to be tied down to a vape with a cord, and I don't want to look conspicuous in my yard. If anyone asks what the Pax is, I just say it's an e-cigarette and that's the end of it. So, I got a second one and damn, I'm happy I did

:DJust got my Pax in the mail! W00t! One happy dude. Came fully charged (put it on the charger and it went green immediately) They said they ran it through the tests to make sure theres no defects! This is my Pax tally so far. They gave me 3 extra mouth pieces, (Yup, boss. And one old style), two shirts (green and blue :D) 3 deluxe cleaning kits (on top of the 1 in the box, the one they sent me last week, and the 3 other small kits, I have a fuck-load of cleaning supplies!) an extra lid, a shit ton of stickers and magnets, and probably a life time supply of lube (about 30 packets of lube) I think I am set for a while hahah. Now I want a car charger. Damn I am pretty happy right now. I am honestly scared to use it  it looks so happy and peaceful on the charger.
edit- Jesus fucking christ. Its purple and wont go off of purple. I've been sitting here 5 minutes trying everything to make it green. Someone find me a baby to punch please.
edit- my pax wont go green once its on. F u c k m y l i f e.

this is a new problem non of the others did this. Anyone have any remedies for this? Just got off customer support they seem pretty embarrassed. I am basically on a first name basis with them now. Its brand new, not even used once, just staring me in the face with that stupid evil purple light. They said they are going to forward it to their engineers and get back to me by today with a solution. :ugh: Its flashing orange 3 times and pooping itself now, power setting is on red so its not a temp thing. meh. MEH I SAY!
Did you try to use it before connecting it to your house? I think your haunted outlet strikes again...

I have no clue how your house voltage would affect the Pax, but it sure seems like it is doing something...
No, but I didn't leave it on, put it on and it was green so I took it off. It heated up ever so slightly once but didnt go green. Now it wont even warm up. My others worked fine as far as vaping was concerned, they just had slow charges. This boggles my mind.
edit- Still no luck. I found in another part of the thread someone was told by Ploom that the orange light issue is somthing that is not self-righting, so I guess I am fucked. meh.

Hello!

Long time lurker, first time poster.

This board has been an incredible resource for me when researching vaporizers. So many of the "regulars" here (Pakalolo, OF, Vitolo, others...) have consistently provided great info on so many makes and models! I cannot thank them (and every other contributor) enough.

I have a few MFLBs that I don't use anymore, but which served me well for a few years. My main vape now is a ThermoVape T1. I use the standard performance standard voltage T1 core with the power adapter, and I use a beta low voltage high performance T1 core with the the standard RCR123A batteries. The low voltage core with the standard batteries heats fully in 6-7 seconds and provides strong vapor. Occasionally I have to "pulse" it to avoid combustion, but overall it is my favorite setup.

I have three Evo cores (one standard, two "betas") but they are not my favorites.

I've had my Pax for about a week now and it has already taken its place in my toolbox of vapes. I thought at first that it would replace my T1 as my main vape, but I quickly found out why it wouldn't.

SMELL

When I use it I generally get a good whiff of odor just as it is reaching temp. Not overpowering, but noticeable, especially on the high setting. The other day, however, I heated a fully packed oven of my T1 ABV (more on that later) on high, but had to turn the Pax off briefly to attend to something. A few minutes later I turned it back on and heated it to temp again. It worked fine, but the smell was very strong and pretty much filled the room! Most of the time I vape inside, and stealth is critical. This experience has me thinking that for me the Pax is an "outdoors only" vape. I assume that what happened was the first heating started producing vapor that continued for a while after I turned it off (I did not suck out the existing vapor). The second heating then started producing more vapor and more smell. In any case, for me the T1 beats the Pax for stealth hands down, if for no other reason than the smell. The vapor smell from the T1 is almost non-existent, since I always cut the power and clear the vapor at the end of each hit. In some ways (e.g. appearance) the Pax is more stealthy, but the smell is a deal breaker for me.

Now on to the good stuff...

I find the Pax to be my easiest vape to use. From loading the material to finishing the session it is the only vape I would recommend to someone who is new to vaping and wants it to be simple. Load the oven full, pack it, turn the Pax on, wait for the green light, and draw slowly. It just works right out of the box. Maintenance may be trickier than some other vapes, but I don't think you can beat it for ease of use.

I have somewhat of a different opinion than most when it comes to Pax's efficiency. My T1 really does the job for me, but I don't think it performs too well once the material has been vaped to a degree. I dump out the load, crumble it, and put it back in, but the T1 doesn't seem to produce great vapor past a certain point. My T1 ABV is usually light brown to yellow with some flecks of green. I know I could go further with it, but it gets a little frustrating with the T1.

Since I've had the Pax I have been filling it to the brim with my T1 ABV and packing it down. I start it on medium temp and move to high when the vapor gets thinner. It just vapes and vapes. ABV comes out even and coffee colored. I get several sessions out of an oven this way. I think that in some ways the Pax may be MORE efficient than the T1 because it just keeps heating the load and producing vapor, way past the point that the T1 would. Of course the flavor is not desirable at this point, but it really does the trick!

I haven't had any temp light or mouthpiece issues with the Pax (yet). I love the Pax. It is easy to use and works very well. Aside from the smell I think it would be super stealthy.

I agree and as I said above this piece SMELLS. Luckily the dudes next to me in class were cool but caution would definitely be advised in indoor situations. Definitely something I could use in any bathroom though. In fact that was one of the top places i would use my mflb at venues. Jump in the stall sit and puff for a bit and go into the movie or museum or whatever

Drain the battery all the way. Make sure you're using your newest charger. Let it charge for as long as it takes for it to turn green (up to 24hrs) then use it, and let it die again. I had the same problem with my new one. My charge time went from 18 hours back to 1.

Can people that have had their PAX for awhile and never had a temp light issue please respond and post how long you have had your PAX please?

I have the lube and all that but even with the lube its hit or miss for me, I still get the temp light issue enough thats its a pain in the ass. Personaly I live this thing, but can not reconmend it to anyone because of the temp light issue, just because I am sure they will fix that flaw somehow in version2 of this thing and they will be stuck like me with this damn temp light issue.
It really does drive me crazy.

Is it a bad idea to use a Highly Educated flat tip dabber to scrap the inside vapor path? I say someone do that and it looked like it got some nice oil like stuff.

So I forgot how well the High setting extracts in the Pax, I have taken to loading my golden brown ABV from my other vapes, full packed load into the Pax, and getting pretty thick vapor using my bubbler. Taste isn't the best, but the vapor is still very potent. This is a good thing as I have been blowing through my herb like nobody's business, and I have a HUGE pickle jar full of golden ABV. Time for a little re-vape to conserve the greens :D You can give it a couple of stirs and it just keeps on producing vapor...Pax for the win!

I don't know how you do it jam. I'd throw up re-vaping ABV regardless of how light or dark it was. Then again, I throw my ABV out...it's such a nasty vile smelling and tasting substance! Oh I still have nightmares of all my ABV edible experiences...lol

I wouldn't say I find the taste enjoyable, but it is not that bothersome either, for the medicating effect I get. I guess I am not as sensitive to it. Maybe using the turbo PVHES stem has something to do with my lighter ABV from the solo.

Hello fellow pax users,

Figured I'd use a generic introduction. Alright so I have had my pax for about a month or so and I love this thing. I've been following this forum for quite some time and have browsed through a good amount of the pages. I've never had any problems with the pax other than when it gets cold. The spring that works the mouth piece needs to be held down to heat up and its once its heating up I just jiggle it up and down a few times and it works.

I clean this piece religiously and to clean it thoroughly I heat it up for about 15 to 20 seconds, just to low, and then use the pipe cleaner and Q-tips to clean the tube and oven. I do that a couple times. I'm not sure if that is necessarily frowned upon or not but it has been keeping my Pax, which I call "Tron" or "The Tron" (to friend a predator), very clean.

This is however my first vaporizer and most likely my last seeing as I'll be out of school in a few years and won't be able to indulge quite as much in grad school or after for that fact. I've learned how to smoke it pretty well but I want to go to the next level of vaporizing and honestly I'm not even that knowledgeable about smoking in general.

and

I watched these videos and thought that my life would be complete if ONLY I could smoke like that for the rest of my days. My question to the forum is how on earth can I get the attachments used for that. The second video is self explanatory because there is only one attachment but the first video has a bunch of tools that he uses for the cleaning and packing of the oven, attachments for the mouthpiece, and some metal ring he put under the mouthpiece. I'm not completely sure what these things do but I'm sure it enhances the experience. Where can I get these attachments and what do they do exactly? (mainly referring to the metal ring)

I was experiencing a similar issue. The fix was actually very easy. It seemed the problem was with how clean my PAX was & how the mouth piece aligns when clicked to the "on" position. And is quite common.
So the unit was fully charged, but was showing a red light. that is the Temp setting, not the "low power" light. For a few weeks I was pressing the mouthpiece with my fingers to get the light to change from red to green & be functional. Then I contacted PLOOM's customer service. They sent me a new mouthpiece & their brand of mouthpiece lubricant. I assume this lubricant is pretty basic & could be replaced with most food safe lubricants used in food processing. They haven't offered it for sale on their website yet.
Here are the steps I do to keep my PAX fully functional.
•take off the mouth piece. make sure the chrome stem is clean. I use an alcohol swab, wipe it down & let it air dry. Then I apply a small drop of the lubricant to the moving ring on the mouthpiece stem. I rub it in there good & make sure it's applied evenly & thats it. I try to keep it clean & simple. I then put the mouthpiece back on the unit. click it down to the off position. then click it up. that should be it. but sometimes it seems like its just slightly off on the alignment like I mentioned before. In those situations, I click it on, get the (red, orange, yellow) light. I pinch the top of the mouthpiece , lightly turn it counter clockwise & I barely feel it click into place. green light.
Now I just regularly keep it clean & lubricated.
Hope that helps.

i was smugly thinking yesterday how trouble free my pax has been and sure enough i turn it on and get the temp light issue for the first time. I tried wiping the mouth piece section down with iso applying the lube and no joy. It took soaking it in the iso then the lube to work
