Palm 2.0

I think I'm giving up on the Palm 2.0. I just can't find that spot of good flavor. With the exception of maybe one or two, every other hit I've gotten from it tasted like combustion, not good at all. I've given it a lot of chances.

I fill it, push the battery in for about 3-4 seconds (long enough to see vapor) release the battery, take a small drag, and bam, ass taste. Good cloud, horrible flavor.

I really want to experience all the 'killer taste' reviews, but have lost a lot of patience, and essentially botanical.

Sorry your having trouble Bass Vaper.
Try pushing the battery and taking your hit at the same time. I don't hit the power for more then a second or 2 unless I am drawing on it.

Thanks Rude Boy. I'm sure it's user error, but if it's taken me this long, it's probably not the right one for me.

It took me months trying to get the original palm down, same results your having now with the Palm 2. I really like the palm now. The palm 2 wasn't as hard to learn for me but took a week or two.

I know it would have been really frustrating if it was my only vaporizer.

good luck to ya and keep layin' down them Bass lines, Being the backbone of the band is a glorious though often thankless job.

Hang in there bass!! I just got mine Monday and only today did I taste that sweet nectar... I always end up combusting my keif... but the buds I found out I was putting to much in, try half what your putting in, and go slow... I sometimes leave the battery in during pulls... not sure but I don't get that instant crazy heat rude gets I guess... I managed to hit 5 great tasters before started to go busty...

Clean it good again, hit a small bowl and go up til you find the spot...

Is there a way to measure the heat to ensure its getting where it should be? Whats the temp on this bad boy? anyone know?

Thank you very much Pak, your opinions mean a lot to me. I appreciate you being so honest, I think having you as a tester was a great idea. Thanks to Sticks for the recommendation.

Sticks has sent me a PM requesting that I start releasing true beta units so that I can actually make changes based on feedback. That is kind of a slippery slope for confidentiality, but I am intrigued by the concept. Do not be surprised to see all of your feedback in the palm 3.0 next year :)

So on that note... its a year later... whens 3.0 coming out mate? ;)

Loving my 2.0 by the way sir, GREAT portable! thank!

Since I got my palm though I put the screen back in my grinder and every load I rub over the screen for a few minutes after the grind... end up with a nice trench of kief to get my night started nicely, all thanks to dogman!

I'm throwing in the towel with the 2.0. There's only so many loads I can waste. I cleaned it again, thoroughly, still tastes like combustion, really bad. There is one tiny spot in the trench that gets cooked and the rest of it doesn't get touched, like it looks totally green but underneath in the very middle is charred black. Not sure that's normal, but I can't seem to figure it out and I'm done throwing away botanical.

The Pinnacle Pro and VB 2.0 never disappoint.

Bass I think that you have a bad unit, I lucked in second day and went back to shop and got a new one, it was doing just that, one spot would heat up in seconds the rest nothing... the replacement I get is bang on, I can hit it as I like, either hard heavy hit or small tasty hits when the mood suits me, lasts about 10 pulls a trench, less if I hold it down for a power lung hit... after that it kinda smells... but goes away next two trenches.

I would have it replaced if you can, its not the best little unit out there, but it works for small hit and runs :) Still doesn't hold the same candle to my Iolite org. still going strong... sounds like your batteries are powerfull enough... mine only one works with a shite out of box...

did you try pulling the screen? they pop out if you do it right... might not be making proper contact with the rods....

purchased palm 2.0 at a local store. Very pleased with it. I understand why people have a hard time with it. It can be very sensitive. Which is a good thing. I have learned how to hold the button in continuously and not get any combustion. You simply have to pull harder. Pull slowly at first and once you see the vapor begin to pull harder. The heavier pull causes the heat to be less. With a strong enough pull the material doesn't burn at the same heat it would have. You are fully vaporizing all product and getting no combustion. sorry. this is probably written very poorly.

Guys my friend buy today Palm 2.0 But when he put battery in Palm no light turn on. They try to charge battery in charger. After about one hour green led show up and then again put battery to Palm and press and nothing happen :/ So it`s must be damage vaporizer or is something wrong with battery ? Can he use any normal AA battery ? Or is must be this from Palm ?

The battery must be AA NiMH with the wrapping removed. This is important because the entire bare casing is the negative pole. Once you strip the battery, do not use it in anything else.

The batteries that come with the Palm 2.0 are already stripped, so I don't know if that helped much. Are you sure you pressed hard enough after inserting the battery? The P2 has a pushback ring in the battery chamber that must be compressed to make contact. In some of them, including the one I had, it required a strong press to make it work.

Hey fellas. I am new to the vape scene. Got tired of coughing and decided to go the 'no smoke' route.
I seem to be on the same learning curve road as new Palm 2.0 users. I am getting actual combustion. And my batteries don't seem to hold a charge for very long AND they take at least 4 hours to charge. I want to like my palm 2.0 (I spent what I consider to be a lot of money on it and I want to lose tha chronic cough, not the chronic) but I am starting to get discouraged......

OK disagree with me, I can't force you to be right

Welcome to Vaping...you'll wind up liking it better.

First thing to remember is that not only is there a learning curve for virtually every different vape there is also a learning curve for your mind and body. No longer are you having to react to all that crap smoking puts into your body and the high is different but more enjoyable (in my opinion).

Things to experiment around with: grind--needs to be fine/dryness of material/loose packing/vary the strength of your draws. Some prefer puffing some prefer slow steady draws. Practice, practice, practice. Try to keep track of the different things you try (harder to do with more experimenting) and only vary one thing at a time (draw, battery time, packing, etc.

Remember practice, practice, practice :smug:

Are you a Palm user? Since it was my first vaporizer I didn't want (couldn't?) to spend a lot of money so it was the choice between the Palm 2.0 and the MFLB, and I chose the Palm even though it was a little more expensive. Why am I having a problem with combustion? Am I holding the battery in too long? There are actual scorch marks ion my screen.....

If you reach combustion then yes, you've held the battery in too long. Are you using the batteries that came with the P2?

I am using the batteries that were supplied. Each battery seems to have about a 20 minute to half hour life. That seems meager to me, considering what it is powering. And the charge time is significantly longer than advertised. It is supposed to heat to about 380 F. That should not be enough to cause combustion. Do I have a faulty product?

Starting to wish for the MFLB........

I've owned both, so I can say with certainty that the product isn't faulty. Your particular unit might be, but I'm not convinced yet. A properly functioning P2 can easily reach combustion. I'm not sure where the 380° comes from, but if you hold the battery in the P2 will heat up well past that.

20 minutes of full power is actually quite a bit. Magic-Flight estimates about 5 minutes of battery life. The P2 draws less than the LB but the battery also has a slightly lower capacity. I'd say (this is a guess) that it would deliver 10 minutes tops, and most likely somewhat less.

I'm pretty sure the P2 batteries were about 2000-2100 mAh. The charger included with my P2 is rated at 500 mA so 4 hours is about right if the batteries are completely flat. Check the back of your charger for the mA rating. If you want faster charging, get a better charger, but avoid those 15 minute chargers. They'll destroy your batteries. 1 A is good and cuts your charge time in half. Don't run the batteries completely flat anyway.

Try inhaling gently as soon as the battery makes contact and pull the battery as soon as you taste something. Gradually increase your contact time. Pull as soon as the taste changes. It shouldn't be too long before you master the skill.

Thanks for your input. My charger is rated as 600 mA (whatever that means...). Maybe I need to get some extra batteries for longer sessions. I am pretty sure that I got the 380 degree temp from Palm's website. I am an everyday all day smoker so going from a pipe to a vaporizer is...... different. No one tells you this. I am trying to balance the 'different' high with my retreating cough.....

Actually FC is peppered with lots of posts telling you about the different high and how to adjust. The conventional wisdom is that you will adjust more readily if you stop smoking entirely and vapourize only for at least a week and preferably longer. A major difference arises from the lack of carbon monoxide and other toxins that are products of combustion. Eliminating those explains why people talk about a more clear-headed high.

600 mA means it charges slightly faster than the one I got does. Since VaporBLUNT doesn't reveal what batteries they use, we're left to guess at their capacity but I concluded that they were 2000 or 2100 mAh. To get the charge time for a completely depleted battery, you just divide the capacity by the charging rate, so 2000/600 is 3 hours 40 minutes.

More batteries are a good idea, but be careful. I found that higher capacity batteries such as the Imedion 2400s that were the LB stock batteries for a long time almost overpower the P2 and would make your combustion issue worse. The new Magic-Flight glyph batteries turn the P2 into a lighter.

Once again, thank you for your info. I feel like a newb all over again and I have been enjoying getting high for almost 30 years. I will keep on keepin' on. Yesterday's gaming session was quite enjoyable actually, at one point I thought 'I think that I have a pretty good buzz.' But as you and I said, it is different and takes getting used to. It may be the more clear headed buzz that you are talking about and I am used to feeling all kinds of other things like the CO and other toxins. I certainly won't miss all that goo that used to clog up my smoking piece. And its not the same mechanically. Smoking a bowl or a joint is easy. Fill it, roll it, light it pass it, repeat until satisfied. The Palm (and probably other vapes) require more attention.

Can I ask why you retired your palm but kept your MFLB in use?

I liked the P2 a lot and in fact, it delivers truer flavour than the LB, which gives a slight woody tone to the vapour. That's not a bad thing to me, I like it. I have the power adapter for the LB though, and it doesn't work in the P2. I used the LB+PA as my daily driver at my desk up until the FV arrived, but that's another thread.

I would have kept the P2 because I enjoyed using it, but a friend admired it a lot and kept asking me if I was interested in getting rid of it. Since it was not essential to me and I knew it would get a lot more use with him, I agreed to give it up. The last time I heard from him he was in love with it.

Yah, the nice lady at the store expressed concern about the wooden construction of the LB. Although others have talked about the plastic that makes up the Palm so......

The FV looks pretty sweet. It is adjustable? So when you find the 'sweet spot' temp wise your are good with no combustion? My Palm 2.0 cost me a 135 so I wish that I had researched deeper since it looks like I could get a FV for about 120. Maybe next tax return... (hear that NSA?!? you guys are FUNDING my habit!)

And you are a generous soul for giving your friend your P2. :)
